I am looking to build a PC for a Skulls & Shackles campaign (using this Alia’s) but I am having some trouble settling on an idea. The only thing set in stone is a human (or human like) pirate type character with a parrot. Please no monster races.

I’ve looked at duettist bard (leaning toward this), but also sanctified slayer inquisitor, nature fang Druid, bonded investigator, beast bonded magus and many others but can’t settle on anything. I enjoy playing versatile classes with spells and skills that will spend time on the front lines. I think this PC will use a whip or perhaps a rapier and if we could get her a firearm that would be a bonus. I usually don’t dip but I am open to any and all ideas.

Also, a big part of my idea is for her to have a parrot familiar named “Silent Rob” (a not so silent) smart mouthed sidekick. Perhaps with the protector archetype but I’ve never had a PC with a familiar before so I am unsure.

Build rules: starting at 5th level,15 point buy, automatic bonus progression, feat at every level, elephant in the room feat tax, and 5000gp to start.
