Born in poverty in Madzulan, Avele was sold at a very young age to a monastery in the north. At the age of six, he was given a name, and entered into monastic training, worshiping an obscure aspect of the Stone One dedicated to self-perfection.
As Avele grew older, he surpassed the other young disciples in every challenge. Soon, Avele grew to regard himself as the embodiment of perfection in the eyes of his god, an assumption that was not challenged by the lamas of the monastery.
Avele's self-aggrandizement came to a head when he purposely slew another disciple during a training exercise. In an act of retribution, several of the other disciples held Avele down while an image of the poisonous Black Spirit Dragon was tattooed into the skin of his chest.
This marring of the flesh, anathema to the followers of the Perfection Aspect, was expected to shame and ruin Avele. However, in "spoiling" Avele's "perfect" flesh, the disciples of the monastery instead only strengthened Avele's conviction that he was a man apart from the rest of the Stone One's disciples.
Believing himself to be the perfect being, he left the monastery to explore the length and breadth of Amahra. In gaining respect and experience, Avele hopes to one day transcend his mortal form, becoming a god himself.
