I'm currently out of town waiting to find out if Mom's going to be admitted to the hospital, this is actually the hoped for decision, and from there to the rehab home. She's not doing real bad, it's just a factor of small things, so we're not worried as much as thinking that we probably caught her before any big downslide.

Ausk, his face increasingly downcast in sorrow for having to do this, lines up his next shot, "I know you're a victim in this, I'm sorry for what must be done". He fires, wincing as he does so. to hit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

Ausk had held his tongue during the discourse, his face downcast as his hands stayed ready to use his bow. The whole business with this intelligent, compelled, undead prince disturbed him. The creature was as much a victim as those he'd been sent against by his master, but the only way to release him was to destroy the body. With a sigh, and an apology both to Erastril and the prince, Ausk fired his bow, trying his best to hit home and hasten this unsavory process. to hit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Seeing the man in the armored suit take such a hit, Ausk joins Lysander in focusing on taking that wight down quickly. Taking a second to aim where the vitals should be on a living entity, Ausk takes his shot. to hit with deadly aim: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

"May we rest near your grave to gather our strength should we decide to continue now? You see, we also have a little girl that we need to try to rescue and thus avoid her joining you on that side. There is also the potential matter of rescuing a group of lumbermen, again to keep them from dying as well."

Rushing as fast as he can in his armor down the tree and to the entrance, Ausk gets there just as Devhyn finishes his warning. "Is it truely safe then? What type of spell is it?" Ausk asks as he silently prays to Erastril for protection as he walks through the columns, eyeing them warily.
Male Half-Orc Paladin (Divine Hunter) 1
"Yes, there were those hired by my Dad that treated me odd for being what I am. Those didn't last long afterwards. If we survive this, perhaps I'll introduce you to my father, he's always looking for able bodies to help protect him on his trips," Ausk replies, "I wonder how the others are doing inside."
Male Half-Orc Paladin (Divine Hunter) 1
"From travelling with my father. Many times during his digging around ruins, all I had to entertain myself with was the nightly meal. As such I started hunting as it was more interesting than gathering berries. In fact was during a hunt that I first felt Erastril. Yourself?" Ausk replies as he climbs a tree.
Male Half-Orc Paladin (Divine Hunter) 1
"I agree, Lysander and I should stay and cover as you rest go in. I may be able to hold my own in hand to hand, but I'm far better on the hunt. The whistle should be able to alert us well, just don't hesitate to sound it should you need us to help." Ausk says as he nods to the inquisitor's wisdom.
Male Half-Orc Paladin (Divine Hunter) 1
"Are not both reasons valid ones? I'm not sure how Lysander was thinking of doing this, but I am sure that he had a plan in mind. I'll also caution you as to what our employer told us, we're not the only people after the item. Who's to say that the masked men are not our greatest threat at that? Obviously the undead wouldn't be interested in information, but wouldn't people?" Ausk answers quickly.
Male Half-Orc Paladin (Divine Hunter) 1
"As there is also the path that will take us the way the stone men took. I am uncertain which is right at the moment. Personally, I'd prefer to go the way the stone masks did, hopefully to save the girl on the way. However, the loss of so many men would hurt the community as well. Devyhn, which would you prefer?"

Unsure of what Lysander said, but taking it as a request, Ausk takes a five-foot step around to get a better, clearer shot at the one menacing the elf. Finding a better point of origin, Ausk again offers up a silent prayer as he lines up with the creature's head. to hit with Deadly Aim: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Sorry about the quiet yesterday, it got crazy around here unfortunately. I take care of my Mom as he main caregiver/helper. She's decided that she's going to smoke despite CoPD, and this is causing minor flare-ups. I bowed out of one game's application process because she was having a major one that died down. She's had over the last two days, minor flare-ups. The worst one being sleeping most of Friday. I've had to monitor more because of this, but it seems to be subsiding again. If it don't it still won't slow me much more because if she doesn't snap out of it soon-ish, I'll have to send her to the hospital. While annoying, it's not worrisome when she goes in. She's done it enough times that the nurses and I are mostly on first name basis, and so the process is pretty much routine.

"Erastril guide my aim," Ausk mutters to himself as he takes aim at one of the ghouls climbing over the logs, taking the briefest of moments to sight the more vital of areas, aiming for those over arms or legs. to hit with Deadly Aim: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

As Devhyn confronts him, Ausk's face becomes more and more thoughtful, until the inquisitor looks him directly in the eye. "It would seem that your Pharisma and Erastril send me even more guidance than was requested. I ask your forgiveness for the misunderstand and my thanks for the rebuke. May this be a reason for increased comradeship between us instead of the affront I accidentally caused. It is an honor to have you at my side as well." To show his sincerity, Ausk clasps Devhyn on the shoulder and gives him a slight shake.

Ausk accompanied, rather quiet as compared to the earlier interactions. He didn't like that the undead were taking precedence over finding the child, but he knew both problems needed to be taken care of. "Erastil guide our pursuit, may we find both quarries at the same place, may the child be alright." He muttered a quick prayer as he followed along. *Though if the child has gotten mixed up in this, speed may be the only thing that will keep her as safe as possible.* He rationalized in his thoughts.

"I heard that as well, I have given the guards my word that I would do what I can to bring the girl back safely. Sazed, I regret that should it come to delaying your quest or letting them have the girl, there is no competition, your relics will have to go in the other quiver." Ausk said, a simple look of sorrow accompanying the latter part of the statement.

"I'll try to talk with the nobles, though truth be told, I'm much more the common man than a higher up. In fact, most times, I can be found in the woods or helping on the local farms." I'll actually talk with the local merchants, and such that I would have had dealings with getting food, selling my catch of the day, and etc. Then work my way to the town guard and see if maybe they've heard of the area. "Agreed, the wand would be a great thing to have. The only question we'll have is whom among us should carry it. What are these specialty arrows you've mentioned? Perhaps I should buy some too eh?" To emphasize the statement, Ausk pats the bow slung across his shoulder, "Also, while not as exciting, maybe we should purchase tents as well?"

Ausk walked in, looking a bit as if hurried. He surveyed the room with nods while watching for any reactions to his race, something he grew to realize during the survey many had similar experiences with. He grabbed a pastry as he walked to the others, wiping some residual oil off of his armor as he did so, "I am sorry for the lateness of my arrival, I traveled to see my father last night to ask him to entreat Irori for a blessing on the endeavor, even as I did Erastril. I figured it only apropos given the nature of our business, given that Irori governs over knowledge as much as Erastril does family," with that, he wolfed the rest of the pastry, "That said, I am Ausk Wilkins, it is an honor to meet you all." |
