Liberty's Edge 4/5

4 people marked this as a favorite.

My axebeak is also Extremely Fashionable and wears jewelry obtained from a scenario boon that gave me mundane equipment of some specific value. It makes him better at Diplomacy. Better than me, in fact. He aids people by cutely cocking his head to the side and not biting people.

It also leads to some rather ludicrous outcomes like someone's pet axebeak having been raised by halflings so they can take the helpful trait.

It's like you know me.

I have never actually seen the "ultimate theoretical wizard" scrying and frying wizard.

I got to do it with my Witch on a module that Hmm was running. We were investigating cultists poisoning the town water supply, and found some of their things in a room of an Inn. Easy scry. We found them doing their thing on the other side of town.

We buff up, have everyone use Carry Companion (did I mention the other characters were all melee Hunters?) and then they all hop into my bag of holding. I turn Invisible (Spirit Patron) and then Teleport over. What followed was a gaggle of mooks regreting every life choice that lead up to that moment. We all had a great time, GM included!

That was an excellent attack. Pharasma and your creepy bird-friend clearly favored us.

Artanthos

Before Combat: Artanthos attempts to activate his Wand of Freedom of Movement well in advance of the party's approach. Sellin has been placed as a guard to alert Artanthos of any intruders, allowing him to cast Shield, activating Martial Flexibility for Improved Sunder, then drink his potions of Fly and Enlarge Person before engaging in combat. He keeps a Toothpick of Pyrotechnics in his mouth at all times.

During Combat: Once raging and in Dragon Style, Artanthos positions himself so that the majority of the party is within his 30' threatened radius and focuses on casters and archers, preferring to sunder spell component pouches, holy symbols, and backpacks, followed by primary-use bows. If the opponents are primarily melee, he uses his quaking amulet of mighty fists to trip as many enemies as possible, repositioning them into disadvantageous positions with Ki Throw. If surrounded, he uses his Toothpick of Pyrotechnics, then works to disengage himself from the melee. Artanthos attempts to subdue the party, dissuading them from further attacks by breaking their gear.

You must be here about the Ustalav lodge! Cursed lodges and idiot agents don't deserve to stay in operation! I stand by my orders to burn that lodge to the ground, just like the other agents stood by them and carried them out!

Stand down and we can work together to fix real problems! There's no need for us to stop cooperating!

Once you hit around lvl 5 your character should always have a way to fly as well. I cannot stress the number of times sitting even at 7-11 games and I find myself as the only person with a potion of fly.

Amen. You need to be able to fly, and to be able to cope with enemies that avoid closing into melee.

Nothing sadder than a melee fighter standing on a cliff edge shaking his fist at a monster flying 15 away and pelting him with ranged attacks.

Who needs to fly when you can reach? 15' is within grapple range for me!

ok, ok, not a fair comparison, but I've definitely sundered bows from foes that explicitly shoot from 30' away as an AoO.

I, Artanthos Silmair, known as the Ender of Encounters, and my trustee axebeak Sellin, have reached Seekerdom. I have explored! I have cooperated! I have sloughed off reporting onto more smarter companions! I have also rid the Karcau lodge in Ustalav of its corruption by ridding Karcau of a lodge due to a small misunderstanding. Many thanks to my drunken firebombing companions while rescuing that diva for following my orders on that front. Thankfully, I SAVED THE HOSTAGES FIRST by throwing them across a room.

I may have also punched a Venture Captain in the process. Who can know?

I have also had many accomplishments in my career! I once threw a minotaur a full 60 feet so my companions could shank him as he lie on his back! I survived many horrible things in the Hall of Drunken Heroes after forcibly demanding the bouncers to talk to me outside and earned free booze for life! I paid back TWO favors to Torch instead of one when he asked for help with an assassin problem! I have surprised archers by breaking their bows while they fly above me! I may have drunkenly killed some strange object lady, too, but that one's a little hazy.

What does the future hold? I cannot say! But surely, I will continue to explore and cooperate!

Artanthos - Bloodrager 4/Brawler 1/Cavalier 4/Fighter 2 as of his retirement scenario. He's now straight to 13 from GM credits.
