As a standard action, you can create a 10-foot-radius field of protective magic centered on you that lasts for a number of rounds equal to your Intelligence modifier. All allies in this area (including you) receive a +1 deflection bonus to their Armor Class. This bonus increases by +1 for every five wizard levels you possess. Alternative Racial trait: Arcane Training
Half-elves with this racial trait have only one favored class, and it must be an arcane spellcasting class. They can use spell trigger and spell completion items for their favored class as if one level higher (or as a 1st-level character if they have no levels in that class). This racial trait replaces the multitalented racial trait.
Elven Immunities:
Half-elves are immune to magic sleep effects and gain a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells and effects.
Adaptability: Half-elves receive Skill Focus as a bonus feat at 1st level.
Keen Senses: Half-elves receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception checks.
Low-Light Vision: Half-elves can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light.

Background:

Arkavus grew up in Magnimar, the son of an Elven artist and a female cleric of Iomedaea. This relationship caused quite a great stir within the Temple of Iomedae, clerics having relationships was not uncommon, but an Elf and a human together was ill-conceived and she was asked to leave the man and child or leave the Temple.

Eventually she decided to stick with her Elven lover and the child they had together.
Arkavus's upbringing was a combination of beautiful art and a good sense of lawfulness, his father teaching him about the arts and to appreciate the arts and crafts from the multiple races in Magnimar. His mother still teaching him the teachings of Iomedae, also trying to teach him somewhat of the swordplay she knew.
But as Arkavus grew older it became clear that his head was more into wits and books then into swordfighting, he liked the arts but he was more intrigued by the nearby school for wizards, The Stone of the Seers.

He enrolled quite late in his life, at the age of 9 into the wizard school. The Stone of the Seers hesitated at first, but gave him the benefit of the doubt, mainly because his father had supplied several paintings of former headmasters for in the school.
His life at the academy was a trying time, both for his study and his social life, he got discriminated against by his fellow students for being a 'half-breed' and even by some of his teachers. As many of the students practised the more aggressive sides of spellcasting, controlling and blasting their enemies, Arkavus protected himself from any harm in and ouyt of school. His focus on the defensive magics made many a mage duel end in his favor, because few could penetrate his barriers.
Outside of the school his magic strategy proved very effective as well, the simple night-time robbers that ambushed the unwary could not draw their daggers when they walked up to him, when they finally unsheathed their swords or daggers, he was already long gone.

However, disaster struck when he was just about done with his wizard training. At his last day, he had learned that his father's house had burned down, with both his mother and father in it. Other houses had also burned down, but his initial thought was that it was a deliberate action, not an accident.
The following day was filled with sadness and grief although he got his certificate as a wizard. He didn't have a home in Magnimar anymore, the school wasn't his home anymore, he moved away to Nybor. There he felt finally accepted by the other half-elves and half-breeds and Arkavus has stayed there for the past 5 years in peace.

Personality:

Arkavus is a reserved man, that plays by the rules, however that doesn't mean he will not use any tricks within those rules. He is a firm believer of the sentence; 'It's better to prevent than to cure', disarming a person before he can attack prevents the fight in his eyes.
He follows his lawful upbringing for the most part, the few times he breaks it is when he helps other 'half-breeds' against unfair treatment.

Appearance:

6 feet 1, 140 lbs
He has long white hair and dark eyebrows, wearing multiple ear-rings in his ears, many of them have a particular meaning to them. Usually he is dressed in a dark blue and black cloth and leather outfit. His staff is custom made for him in Nybor, a hard wooden staff with a piece of crystal set in the middle at the top.
