I’d say it made good sense. Why would there be tons of commercial grade environment suits with armor protection? In a sci-fi setting, env suits are essentially work clothes for many creatures, and very few have need for tactical capabilities.

It would seem we just need some higher level, no or low AC armors and we’re good. I foresee a boat load more gear with the core book and later materials.

The Starfinder 2 playtest PDF states:

"All non-archaic armors, except those with the exposed trait, allow you to breathe and survive in a vacuum or in non-hazardous underwater environments."

"A suit of armor’s environmental protections last for a number of days equal to its item level."

All Commercial grade armor has an item level of 0. Does that mean armor only has environmental protections once you upgrade it to Tactical grade? That doesn't seem right.

I’d love a lore line, even if it were soft covers like the old PF1 line. Would be cool to have a flow of ideas.

Pretty straight forwards... what books do you want to see after Starfinder 2e launches? Both as an interesting thing to talk about and in hopes that the 2e team sees your list and thinks its a good idea.

1) Planar book. I've heard this one was planned for 1e before the OGL/ORC debacle pushed it in favour of 2e. Starfinder is a very planar-heavy setting including FTL that takes you through planes other than the Drift, so it really feels like we need this one.

2) Pact World Species. Oppertunity to get plenty of new species into the game, as well as flesh out the core species that never got the spotlight in 1e.

3) Pact World Gods. Galatic Magic is a thing, but I would really love to have a deeper dive on the gods and faiths of Startfinder. Ideally something like Inner Sea Gods rather than LO Gods & Magic (which is great, but I love those in depth summaries)

4) Some sort of lore line analagous to the Lost Omens line for Pathfinder. We do have the Pact World and Near Space books, but it feels like there is a lot more to explore on every planet. Plus, it would give use an oppertunity to go deep on other planets and systems outside the big two.

5) Azlanti Star Empire. Think this one is pretty obvious. They are big recurring villans and we've seen some glimpses inside the Empire, but I'd love to see more.

IF the player is at the top of the building they'd have to spend some sort of movement to move off the edge, but falling is just falling. There's no reason the actual act of falling would cost you any movement.

So a dragon who is flying can basically choose to move 500 feet down for free since it's "falling."

That makes no sense

Why does that not make sense? That's just how falling works. There is no ground under you, so you fall. You're being pulled down by gravity (or the falling rules technically)... your movement speed has nothing to do with it?

I'm having trouble even envisioning what your version of falling would look like. Would a creature with a slower land speed fall more slowly?

Think it comes down to being controlled or not. Yes, physics makes a thing fall at a given rate, but poorer flyers (slow fly speed) would be able to traverse less distance and maintain control. Faster flyers could actually force their fall rate to be faster than gravity and still stabilize.

Think I’d treat it as a fall if you fell further than allowed, but hey, it’s your game.

Very excited for this. Any chance we can sub to this through the Paizo store?

I hope so. The sub comics are super convenient and an easy add on sub.

Grand Lodge

@maglock open to volunteer services for the site as well. I can do some sql goodies as well as a bunch of server side automation

I am confused if future new ancestries will be having printed ability boosts alongside the option to take two free instead, or if ancestries simply won't have printed ability boosts going forward?

I’d prefer the ability boosts being included still. I like having the average trait stated to know where the ancestry usually ended up.

Wearing a pin or any Organized Play accessory during an in-person or online Paizo Organized Play session gives you an in-game bonus. You can view the full details at the Organized Play Perks page. We hope your new pin brings you luck, but if you’re playing a tabletop roleplaying game among friends, then you’re already a winner as far as we’re concerned.

It's up there, 4th paragraph

Please, won't someone think of the management?

Companies shouldn't be able to hold their employees hostage to avoid boycotts and consumer influence.

I’m not saying defend the management, I’m saying consider the actual facts at play and understand that a real possibility is burning this company to the ground on unproven allegations. We the customers have, at best, 2nd if not 3rd hand knowledge of these events. Let the wronged parties seek reparation, and we can decide after that.

Burning down the business due to accusations is horrible. There’s due process in the US for a reason. If these accusers have been wronged, sue and get reparations. That’ll be public record, then do with that what you will.

If we claim to love this company, give them a chance.

This is great news. Any possibility of moving the Paizo PDFs over to OneBookshelf as well?

Any word on a reprint for this book?

Was looking at AP’s and noticed the first book of Dead Suns is unavailable. Anyone heard when a reprint may happen?

I’m super stoked about Dune coming out, but I liked the Lynch version too. I just love the world

It will probably do better than Dune...

I can’t imagine how another Matrix would work, but the new Dune looks incredible. I hope they give it some time and not try to cram the whole first novel into one story again

Or even offload the job to DriveThruRPG like many other companies have.

Confirm. I saw it in the side cart. Thanks for the quick response

Got my lovely box of Paizo goodness today, but it’s missing Alien Archive 4. I sent the receipt and some pictures to the customer support email with the same explanation.

I’m fine with it landing in my next subscription shipment if that makes life easier.

Grand Lodge

They got me squared away. Thanks for the info. Hope the backlog clears soon

How about Kingmaker to go with the rerelease?

Had been trying to get some support for an exchange that needed to happen since August, but it seems all my emails aren’t getting anywhere. My last 8 emails refer to the issue where the wrong shirts sizes and the PF2 bestiary pawns were sent instead of the bestiary itself. I’d really like some sort of resolution.

So I got this last month, I picked Bestiary 2 as my first book thinking that the subscription would carry on and I would still get the APG. But I'm not seeing anything that states that as the case now. I also got the adventure path and its showing that I am getting future books. Does it take some time for that to show up? (Honestly so far buying from Paizo directly has been a huge hassle. Orders taking over a month to complete, no response in emails or the customer support board getting a bit aggravating lol)

I’ve got the same exact issue.

In the year since the post, our area has not seen attendance fall off. If anything it has increased. Of our members we have one person who plays D&D5 org-play. Either they are playing it really, really, wrong, or it is an abusably broken game. (Something about the druid summoning pixies to turn the whole party into T-Rex who then rofl-stomped an encounter they were supposed to run from, and the whole party got 10x the exp they were supposed to get, and some of them went up 3 levels from that one encounter.)

I find many old PF guys looking back to pathfinder after playing 5e for a bit. Also, many new players get going for a couple months and taper off. Many seem to wish they had more options or find when they've mastered the system, the shine is gone and they're left wanting.

I also miss paizo and their support. Wotc seems to have just slapped the AL together and let it coast. Many adventures are pretty flat.

Grand Lodge

Very interesting post. I've been playing and DMing encounters for a while now and I think there may be some misunderstandings here. Encounter games run at the same pace per hour that full 5 hr session games do. I could easily see this adapted to PFS by just DMing each 5 hour session in two to 3 iterations. I know as a DM of encounters, it can be 3-4 weeks before I get any DM rewards for an adventure. Not a huge deal because I understand we're moving at a slower pace. So players would get their chronicle after two sessions vs one. Missing a session would sting a bit, but it does in encounters, to a lesser degree. Maybe give half an xp and the portions of the chronicle earned.

Reading Plague of Shadows right now. Been pretty good so far, story is moving along nicely. Also trying to catch up on my RPG reading. Working on the APG (yes, I'm very far behind).

Robert and Thea, just got a chance to check out the site. As a returning DM after a 15 year break, your site is incredibly helpful. This is a great contribution to the hobby.

Losing a scenario is not a loss if your characters are still alive :D

I'm doing the same thing right now. I'm giving it a go with Lem, Seoni, and Valeros.

Good luck with your game.

I could see a team of kobold played as one player. That could be really awesome. Their basic attack could be all 5 or so kobolds mauling a target. As levels go up, they'd get more efficient.

The RP aspect would be interesting to keep track of, but I'd give it a go in a home game, it at least sounds hilarious.

I played a minotaur way back in 2ed DnD, it was so fun. I get the charging and goring can get OP pretty quick, but for me, it's worth the work :)
