No wagon guard would refuse 10000 gold. That's a king's ransom. I don't want to blow my cover. Angrim's eyes go wide at the amount mentioned. "Yeah sure, I'd never have to sit on a bumpy-ass wooden seat observing a horse's hind bits again! Sign me up!"

"What right have you got to summon us here and then take our weapons? Are we under arrest or something? Your mayor can meet with himself. I aint giving you sh*t." Angrim turns and walks away, muttering under his breath.

I think there's some confusion. The 'three' Barnabas was talking to are Thak, Grollus and Terflynn. Apparently he doesn't think women worthy of conversation and is leaving that to the Grimma and his serving wenches. Angrim stands wobbily to his feet, and claps Thak on the shoulder "Oi Bombur, you're being awful quiet." Putting one hand on Grollus' shoulder and the other on Terflynn's he says, "Same goes for you Johnnie, and you Jim-Bob. Why don't y'all say something before Barney here thinks I'm the spokesman for a troupe of mutes?" He sits back down and gulps a bit more of the Dragon's Breath. Why are they leaving this all to me? Thak's normally so Jolly, and Terflynn as well. They play the part of mentally handicapped guards too well.

Undoubtedly vile. Angrim thinks as he takes a gulp of the liquid. The intense burning has him coughing and hacking as he downs the stuff. "Stronger than auntie Hilda's armpit funk, that's fer sure." After taking a couple more sips and fighting hard not to vomit, Angrim asks, "So anything interesting ever happen around here?" He takes a few moments with his pipe to relieve his throat from any more of the Dragon's Breath.

"Me arse is sorer than a c*nt the mornin' after birth. Bring on the liqour!" Angrim says, his accent and manner completely different from normal. Hopefully this crude demeanor will reassure them that we are incompetent fools. I don't like being without my tickler, but this pitiful leather thing will have to do for now. He plops down on a stool near the bar. "Gimme something to curdle me spunk Barney! It's been a long ride." He draws out his pipe and after thwacking it full of herb, begins puffing contentedly while he awaits whatever poison is in store for him.

Angrim puts on the baggy peasant clothing and joins Thak in rubbing dirt on himself. Nodding to the fellow dwarf he smiles. After he's clothed, he hops up onto the driver's seat. Hes stows his scorpion whip under the driver's seat and tosses an old cloth over it. Taking up a horse whip, he waits for the others to get in.

"Agreed. We should utilize all the resources available to us. I will remain silent unless forced to talk, in which case I will do my best impression of a driver. Are you any good at acting Grollus?" Angrim asks the other whip wielder.

"Alfred, make sure I have some suitably peasant-like clothing. It should not be clean, and make it too large so I can wear armor under it without showing." Angrim commands the servant. If he wants to act like our slave I'll treat him like one.

"Your plan is sound Jade. I will pose as a driver. My plain looks should help in that department." Angrim goes and finds a normal leather whip in the armory. "I'll carry this, and put my real lash under the seat. My normal whip would shred a horse's back. Not very convincing." He comments to whoever seems to be listening.

"The three people with hats could disguise themselves as human peasants. Two drive the 'wagon', and one waits inside the back door/hatch. That person erects a wall of goods between them and the rest of us. So if someone looks in the front they see two peasants. If someone looks in the back they see a peasant and a bunch of trade goods."

"So all these thousands live here without anyone outside this place knowing of their existence? How are they kept fed? Though this place is beautiful it doesn't seem like there would be much farm land." Angrim asks Kinda off topic I know, but I'm curious.

Quite curious, Angrim will finish up his meal quickly and head to this "War Room". He waits patiently for the others to gather, trying not to stare at Aluria's bountiful bosom, but not always succeeding. Once they arrive, he listens to her briefing with interest. "Is the merchant experiencing amnesia or does he remember anything that happened during those 'few weeks'?"

To Embrianna he says, "Yes, I did thank you." Then to Alfred, "You will address me as Angrim, not m'lord. My question is what happened to the last set of peers? Who is the lycanthrope queen your brother spoke of? When will the Patriarch give us an assignment? Or are we free to choose our own targets?" Angrim pauses his string of inquiries, giving Alfred time to answer.

Angrim straps back into his armor first thing, though he leaves the whip and shield in the bedroom. "Morning Alfred." He says, nodding to the bard on his way to the dining room. He sits down next to Embrianna greeting her, "Good morning Embrianna. Did you sleep well?" He eats only bread, poultry, and some cheese if there is any. He'll wash it down with milk or water. "Hey Alfred, why don't you come sit down with us. I'd like to ask you something." he calls out into the courtyard.

There'll be time for exploration in the morning. Angrim thinks, watching Thak wordlessly leave the room. The pipe being finished he turns to Dignis and says, "Thanks for being understanding. I'm quite tired, I'll be going to sleep now." With that he tucks away the pipe, and rolls over onto his side. Within a few minutes he's breathing deeply and evenly, asleep.

Angrim takes a mighty rip before passing him the pipe, "Indeed feyson Burrows, what did happen to the last set? I believe the Patriarch or Alfred mentioned that there haven't been any peers for over 50 years. Perhaps they can tell us more in the morning." He stares off into space for a few moments pondering various things. "That elephant sure was something, hardly a more beautiful sight to be had than nature crushing evil under tusk and heel. Though we ought to see about replacing that crossbow with a gnome sized steel box fit with a 360 degree arrow slit. You could stay up there slinging spells while being protected from harm. I felt bad leaving you up there earlier, but it seemed the only way out was forward. Sorry Dignis." Angrim looks overly ashamed from something that Dignis had not even indicated he took as a slight. He sighs heavily into his brittle looking straw-colored beard, and leans his head to the side cracking his neck, his eyes downcast.

You forgot to change the sharing permissions on the map DM. Angrim grabs whatever bed is closest, preferably at floor level if they are bunk beds. He takes off his armor and shield, setting them in a neat pile next to his bed. After cleaning his whip and gear he pulls a small leather pouch from his bag and thumbs some kind of herb into a small bone pipe. Lighting a match he begins to puff it contentedly filling the room with a sour-sweet smell as he lays back on his bed. "Nothing like fighting a horde of werebeasts to tire you one out, eh?" he says to no one in particular. Now that all he's wearing is a long linen shirt and loincloth it can be seen that the vast majority of his hairy well-muscled body is covered in layers of ugly scars.

Bah, replied two days ago. Apparently boards ate my post. Angrim says the oath, changing the wording slightly, "I, Angrim Darkson, now in the presence of the Heavens, do declare from my heart, without reservation, that Patriarch Nightfall is the only true Head of his Church throughout the earth, and that by virtue of the keys of binding and loosing he has power to dispose of evil in all its forms that it may safely be destroyed. Therefore, to the uttermost of my power, I will defend the Nightfall Scion. All of which I, Angrim, do swear which I am about to receive, to perform on my part, all of Heavens witness my real intentions to keep this my oath." He hopes his alterations won't raise to many eyebrows, but is unwilling to swear the oath exactly as it was given.

Angrim sets his whip down at the edge of the ladder You've caused too much pain to be in a pretty place like this. He stares long and hard at Thak before taking his place. Wonder how his black heart will fare here. When will the day come that I feast upon his sins? He stands with his back straight and his hands clasped behind his back, waiting for the patriarch and woman to speak.

Oh f*ck. What have I gotten myself into? Angrim wonders to himself when he sees all the pageantry and pomp. He looks extremely uncomfortable to be the center of this much attention, and pulls his cloak's hood high to hide his unpleasant features. He follows Alfred quietly observing everything around him, trying to remember as much as possible.

I've been doing fast in one of my games that's been running for several months, with basically back to back encounters. The characters started at 6th level and they are just now making 7th. For PBP I actually think the best way is for the DM to just hand out levels at appropriate story points regardless of EXP. Though if EXP is being used definitely fast.
