Amun is a bastard.
One afternoon, in broad daylight, his mother, the daughter of a Councilman, was returning home from the market, when Amun's father grabbed her and pulled her into an alley, forcing himself upon her. She was severely injured, and assuming she would die, the man spat upon her and walked away. If anyone saw what had happened, they did nothing to stop it.
His mother didn't die, and was impregnated. 7 months later, Amun was born - the symbol of the horrific tragedy Chelsea suffered. Before he was born, Chelsea knew she would be unable to bear the sight of him. She requested that he be taken away and put up for adoption before she could lay eyes on him.
Rather than be adopted, the midwife stole the child, taking him to be raised and taught by her people outside of the city in the Brazen Peaks. The group, a small cloister of followers of Irori, took Amun in.
When Amun was 15 years old, he began to ask questions about his family. The monks in the monastery told him the truth: that he was the son of a noble woman and a rapist. As he continued at the monastery, he quietly and internally wrestled with this reality until his 25th birthday. On that day, he stepped into the Abbott's quarters and was told that it was time for him to leave and seek his path outside the care of his fellow monks. With a small amount of gold and basic belongings, Amun began the journey to Sothis, looking to reunite with his mother for the first time.
Whether by chance or by providence, Amun arrived at her home to find her being attacked by a masked man. He instantly stepped into action to protect his mother, only to be struck down by the older, more experienced assailant.
