Amada breathes a sigh of relief as the portal closes, before turning and signalling a thumbs-up to Eando and the other Pathfinders on the support team. Never thought I'd have to fight this many deities when i first came to this world... So be it. Whistling for Necalli, the bird tiredly returns to the elf and he begins the slow process of patching their wounds. "Good job out there, girl. You'll be enjoying a nice long rest after this."

Jakoby & Ro wrote:
With the wee god swallowed back into the earth, Jakoby does a cursory check to make sure Ro is okay, then pulls out her handmade pipe and stuffs it with the last sticky nugget she had been saving for a "celebratory" occasion - a single puff flushes her eyes a deep red, and she nearly stumbles a second time, and looking around the group, passes it to anyone who would indulge with her...

"I'll trade it for that pipe. Or my Meteor Hammer. Preferably both." The elf chuckles briefly before moving to retrieve the sword from the ground around his feet. "Your tool did me well while I had it. Perhaps I should look into a weapon with a more versatile grip as well."

I've cleared the RNG cache, the way is clear for Natural 20's on your turns my friends. RIP that turn.

Never a good sign when, over the course of 5d20's, you only roll high enough to hit yourself once, let alone the boss's higher AC.

We start in just over a week. The current build of my character is trained or better in every skill except survival.

Sounds like a build that will be rewarded in the module. Won't go into more detail than that. Have fun with it, if I had to rate the module currently I'd say its about a 4.5/5 as far as modules go and has the best overall story.

Comparing the feel of the stories, no actual plot spoilers for any of the modules mentioned, just describing the story structures:
Plaguestone kindof feels anthology-like or like a series of loosely related mini-adventures, Slithering's story is such a joke that I had to write an entire forum thread explaining everything I had to do to turn it into something compelling lol. Malevolence has a pretty strong setting and backstory that you get to uncover through gameplay, and it feels satisfying as a complete package.

tl;dr I'd be excited for Night of the Gray Death if it wasn't being written by Ron Lundeen (see Slithering); still probably going to run it just for the level 16 play though, lol.

(Not counting Society scenarios, but comparing it to Slithering/Plaguestone and the Beginner Box)

Just fair warning that if you haven't played it that the module feels like Casual Bonekeep.

"Urxehl or not, you won't be around to see it!" Amada becomes a flurry of motion as his trident continues to re-manifest in his hand with the sound of thunder. Amada lets out a chuckle as he watches the Demoniac cyclops get blasted away. "Where'd all of that bluster go? Try and strike me with your own hands only to run away so soon? Don't make me laugh." Putting a hand to his mouth, the elf belts out a sharp whistle, spurring Necalli to action as she rides Ro's wake to flank the Demoniac's new position. As she rends into the beast's back, Amada flips his Trident into the air with a swift kick. The elf rapidly inscribes glyphs into the air before snatching the weapon, hand now glowing with primal energy that expands to encompass the weapon. "I'll make you regret ever returning to this world, hellion!" With a shout, the elf looses his trident with a thunderous blast as it accelerates rapidly towards its target.

Every now and then I'll burn like, an hour or two just flipping through Archives of Nethys deities. There's some wild stuff in there; Ydajisk, the CN Protean god of language preservation, evolution and slang is definitely a highlight.

Who haven't I tried invoking the name of? I've tried the most of the primary deities, the aeons... Oh, there is that deity... Rushing back to the rune he'd previously failed to disable, the elf hearkens back to memories of his youth as he invokes the name of a deity he'd nearly forgotten about. "In the name of Ydajisk, the mother of tongues; I bear witness to these ancient runes, committing them to the libraries of language preservation eternal. Their original meaning now preserved, I invoke the rite of Slang, thus evolving the original intent of this ancient text to its modern meaning!" ... and invalidating the ritual in the process, picky as these incantations are with their words. Gods above, this language nonsense is hard to follow...

Seeing the runes shift before him and taking it as a sign of Ydajisk's favor, the elf dashes off to deal with the final Rune, as Necalli continues to circle the spirit.

True enough. Regen +20 means they take a decent amount of focus fire to remove from the field efficiently and otherwise they can try to block disable attempts with AoOs (imagine getting Crit and losing the 2-action attempt) or just getting a free round of attacks off against anyone who had to stick around next to them. Since you can't disable from Ranged, it wouldn't get you any closer to disabling them outside of removing a hazard from the field.

Either case, if the party thinks it's time to rush the boss, Amada can opt to either do that next round or continue trying to disable runes. Let me know what the preferred strategy is; Amada has a 50% success rate vs the runes so it's literally a coinflip each attempt and my luck has admittedly been remarkably bad so far. That said, I am Invisible, so the trolls don't seem to be able to disrupt my attempts, so there is that at least.

Is there seriously no Thievery check to disable these? My thievery is +4 higher than my other viable skills; if it had an easier DC I'd have passed the first check rolling Thievery. Just wanted to confirm it in either case.

Also I'm still invisible so hopefully that'll prevent me from getting clobbered to some extent.

Well he's certainly more chatty this time... Hearing the commotion, the elf breaks his focus to watch the playing animals for a scant few moments. Oh, it’s Siva. Wonder where her rider is? Taking a moment to scan the surrounding fight, it doesn’t take long for the elf to spot a contingent of Pathfinders outfitted in suits of kitbashed armor being led against a contingent of beaked, black-winged demons. Suddenly, a loud shout can be heard from the ranks, as a massive slab of scrap cascades upwards in the vague shape of a huge sword, before crashing down and cleaving the largest of the demons in twain. He seems to be doing fine; probably doesn’t even realize he’s missing someone. I’ll have to get a Pathfinder to lead Siva back to him once we move on.

Once we’re ready to move on, Amada will cast Invisibility from his Cloak of Elvenkind, False Life from his Wand (forgot to do it earlier, whups) and Perseis’s Precautions, all of which last 10+ minutes under the assumption we’re going right back into the heat of it. Trident and Staff of Divination will be drawn.

Extra flavor text because I'm thinking I crit here. Seeing the beat breathe in, Amada steels himself, dashing towards the creature while carefully calculating his next strike. As he begins to intone a phrase of power, the elf's eyes glow with an azure light. "May this lay your accursed bones to rest, once noble protector. E nga tupuna, homai he tirohanga mo taku heke mai... Collapse! Hurling his trident directly through the wave of negative energy, the arcane aura empowering the weapon cleaves a gap just in time for Amada to disappear into it's wake, emerging from the blast completely unscathed as the trident embeds itself into the creature's neck. "Hoki!" At his command, empowered by the residual Arcane energy, the trident rips itself from the Ravener's form, rupturing an even greater hole in the process.

◆ Stride (to enter into Second Range Increment or less to ignore Range Increment penalties. If descending the slope is not Rough Terrain and is a 10' elevation shift or less, I'll descend the slop to basically be -25' beneath the Ravener; else I'll move to the position adjacent to Greezgux.)

Quick side tangent, but my favorite new spell from Secrets of Magic has got to be Winning Streak. 1 Action, Verbal Only, spreadable Haste is a very fun tool. I was fairly hesitant about taking Level 4 casting at earliest opportunity on Amada, but Winning Streak is wildly good action economy, especially for someone who can Winning Streak > True Strike > Attack on the same turn to improve their chances of Critting. Should be a fun spell to play with once I get to those levels; as-is, I'll probably end up picking it up on a wand for use until I hit Level 12.

Amada Will: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (18) + 17 = 35 nice
Necalli Will: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (9) + 16 = 25 good enough for me

If Jakoby makes their Will Save upon the Ravener approaching and I'd be aware of their result, if they're fleeing change the target of the effect to Amada.

"Jakoby! Look alive, your arrows are our greatest asset here!" The elf throws his scroll before him, levitating in the air with its own arcane magic as he enacts the incantation for the spell. With a final gesture, the scroll disintegrates as Jakoby begins to feel time dilate around them. Flurry Rangers are godlike Haste targets due to the reduced MAP, plus Haste does not generate additional actions for the turn if you cast it on yourself (Quickened only adds actions if it's available at turn start) so you can enjoy the extra arrow shots this combat.

Readying his weapon, the elf looses his Trident as Necalli follows in its wake, only mildly perturbed by the great beast's frightening visage.

EDIT: For purposes of AoO if it has one, Haste is the last action taken to reduce its chances of being interrupted. I'd rather have it provoke off of the Trident strike or Necalli's move than the buff spell.

As the elf finishes unbinding a chain in the basement of the tower, he checks over Fester's progress. "Almost clear on your end?"

The kobold jolts to attention, quickly shifting his gaze to his chain links which appear suspiciously similar to Amada's work. "Of course! I've made great progress! Just a little more and I'll have this-"

Suddenly, a bolt of fire shoots down from the entryway, melting through the remainder of the bonding link and causing Fester to let out a frightened yelp. "Oh yeah, The Gilded Gec's still got it!"

"What was THAT for? I almost had it unbound!"

"Almost doesn't cut it in showbiz, short stuff. Places to go, demons ta slaughter! The Gilded Gec runs a tight schedule, and he's pretty sure the demon freakshow in the eye of that storm does too!"

As the two Kobolds banter, Amada watches as the orb of light fades away with a grateful twinkle. After a quick prayer of guidance, the elf takes a stand and gives a quick whistle. "All right Fester, you can continue your argument with Gec on the way out. For now, let's reconvene with the base camp and see what our next steps will-"

Suddenly, a loud grinding sound pierces the silence, followed by frantic shouting. Amada sprints to the entry to the basement, ready for a fight, but quickly calms upon seeing the situation resolved.

Above the elf is a levitating slab of rock, entangled in a mess of hastily attached ropes held by Klatzu, Siva and Masei (now returned to her original size). "You will vacate the basement now," Burgess says nonchalantly. "The slab has roughly 9 seconds left before the flow of time returns to it, at which point we'll see just how good Klatzu's craftsmanship truly is."

As the elf and kobolds quickly scurry away from the tower, a loud slam can be heard from behind them as gravity returns to the slab, causing it to collide with the upper story of the tower as the ropes hold. "See! Klatzu's craft held! Never doubt Klatzu's skill!"

"They are out. Release the ropes and return to camp," Masei intones before doing just that, catching the excited goblin by surprise as he gets lifted several feet into the air before getting snatched by his wolf, seemingly unfazed.

After doing a quick headcount (Six... Seven... wait, did Necalli even accompany us? If that bird is back at the camp...) and dusting himself off, the elf turns to address the group before leaving. "Good job team, we've neutralized this site. Judging by the sky, its safe to say our adversary will likely notice. Our new objective is to reconvene with the others and strike before the physically-impaired beast can react. Be ready for anything."

Arriving at the site recommended by Eando, Amada quickly takes charge of the situation after having surveyed his group's talents. "All right team, the ritual site is up ahead. Gec, Burgess; I want you two on standby in case anything goes awry, your magic will be important for ensuring we all make it out in one piece. If there are any enchantments on the ritual site that require dispelling, we'll need your assistance there as well; be ready."

Responses 1-------------------------:
The golden kobold (The Gilded Gec, -2006) puffs up his scrawny chest before responding brusquely, "Sure thing, hot shot. Just know that I'll be takin' charge if you fall and can't get up, yeah!"

"Unlikely." The disfigured leshy (Burgeoning Bergamot, -2003) speaks up in a disinterested tone that does not match the severity of the situation. "I have seen myriad futures, golden one, and you fail to measure up to our elven companion in every one. I'd advise you find your own path to the grave with what time you have; better to burn out brightly than burn unseen as an understudy. As for your request, Am; just remember to scream loudly if anything falls. My magic can buy you enough time to finish the job before your timely end at the barest minimum."
-------------------------

"Klatzu, you and Siva will work with Masei. See what you can do to stabilize the structure. Anything you can do to support the stones long enough for us to get in and disable the ritual will be of immense help."

Responses 2-------------------------:
"COME SIVA! It is time for Klatzu to showcase MASTER CRAFTSMAN skills!" The walking trash heap of a goblin (KLATZU, -2002) quickly clambers atop his equally disheveled white wolf steed (SIVA, -2002ac), before beginning to shout out his own directions. "TALL PERSON! Take Klatzu's newest creation! It is hardest hat! Use it to prop up stone with head and hands! Pumpkin-man, you and yellow-belly find materials for Klatzu to-"

"Enough. Gekkatol Rekkajek and Burgeoning Bergamot have already been assigned their tasks. Assigning new tasks would only disrupt the operation. I will create sufficient enough raw material with this 'hat' of yours to sufficiently justify my presence." The black-skinned Orc (Masei Alsharei, -2009) lays down her obsidian scythe before taking the 'hat' (Adamantine Shield) in her hands. After a brief moment of meditation, her eye flashes a blinding orange as her body begins to expand, growing the shield to an immense size. "I will provide you with cover, Amada Caradulyn; Klatzu Undefined and Siva Undefined will see that cover is not needed. We will liberate whatever force lies trapped within."
-------------------------

"That leaves you and me, Fester. We'll be conducting the primary operation of dismantling the ritual site. If what you've told me of your skills as a master locksmith and powerful arcanist are to be believed, then we should work well as a pair. Let's finish this quickly before Masei's magic runs out."

Responses 3-------------------------:
The scrawniest member of the group, a white Kobold with a blunt face ("Fester", -2004) , seems to be somewhat distracted by the group's Leshy, as if undergoing a case of deja vu. However, upon hearing mention of his skill, he quickly breaks from his reverie. "...S-sure thing, chief! Yes, I am every bit as skilled as you are. Certainly! There is no need to question the word of Fester! My lineage is that of the mightiest Silver dragons, powerful spellcasters of infinite finesse and wisdom! This trial is but a mere farce for one of my capabilities!" The kobold laughs heartily, confident in his words despite the very apparent lack of luster in his scales.
-------------------------

"All right, you have your assignments. Remember the one rule of today's mission."

In unison, the group clasp their Wayfinders in a gesture of solidarity, before repeating as one the phrase the elf invoked many times on the way here; a phrase he had etched into his soul during the evacuation of the Hao Jin Tapestry.

"Kaua e mate."
"Don't Die."

"I have no objections, as long as eating the spirit doesn't involve it possessing your body. I've had enough possession for a lifetime."

Turning to Eando, the elf asks, "So, about this dragon. Do we have any information about what kind of dragon it is? I recall we were having some difficulty identifying it before, have the Society's loremasters been able to identify the beast yet?"

Should be good to go, the worst of the storm missed me. The only lingering issue is that my internet network connectivity is shot locally, but my cell network functions so I can still post updates on my end.

Let me know if you need me to make any changes. I listed any purchases/selling that was mentioned but didnt total the purchases/selling in case you were going to buy/sell more stuff.

I'll plan to try to do a soft start either Monday or Tuesday. if everyone is ready by then.

When you're ready please update your character info on slide 2 and then let me know you're ready.

And as a general note I'll be going on vacation next weekend (Friday evening through Tuesday evening). I'm hoping to bring my laptop but it is not the best laptop and internet is spotty where we're going to. worst case scenario there will be a 4 day break in my posts.

Hypothetically I should be good to go, but if I'm noticeably silent for Monday/Tuesday, its likely because of this. I am (hopefully) in an area that won't be completely smashed, but it's likely I'll be without power for awhile so posting on my end will likely be over a cell phone. Hopefully it won't lead to any major issues, but if I run into anything unexpected I'll try to let you all know.

tl;dr: Turns out BTS Part 3 is happening Monday IRL whether I like it or not, wish me luck.

So 7 blocks, though you'd have to try to miss more than 2-3 of those blocks.

Though there is an uncommon item on this chronicle sheet - They don't introduce it in-character and I didn't think to do so until now-- but drandle wore a ring of sustenance which supposedly you get first dibs on now that's he's back but still unwell? Let's say Nelket had one and offered it as a token of appreciation for returning Dolok safely.

Maybe the Ring of Sustenance came from the cyclops spirit so he wouldn't have to take breaks to feed his host, in which case it wasn't Drandles to begin with? Just a thought.

That said, there were a lot of really stupid treasure bundle placements in Season 1, so I like the move towards less explicit treasure bundle schenaniganry, but I would appreciate it if moving forward there were at least more Uncommon items and options included on Chronicle Sheets, like, idk, maybe literally anything from the Edgewatch AP since it was confirmed the AP itself wouldn't be sanctioned? Just a thought.

EDIT: Forgot to include my favorite stupid treasure bundle from season 1 as an example.

Devil at the Crossroads Minor Spoiler:
The time you loot a recently deceased acquaintance's corpse during a murder investigation because his boots were expensive-looking.

Other honorable mentions from other scenarios:
-The time you had to crit-succeed a Perception Check to get the tenth treasure bundle of a scenario.
-The time where you succeed a chase and manage to make it just in time to find a relic before it just happens to sink completely into quicksand, a process that has been underway for an imperceptible amount of time prior to this scenario that you will miss if you just happen to show up to the location a few minutes late.
-The time when you're fleeing a civilization actively undergoing a catastrophe that could end the way of life for an entire culture and you find time to loot what you can on the way out.

Yeah, all of those options considered, I'd rather the scenario just rank us at the end with arbitrary treasure based on how well we did.

rip, going to be purchasing at least Goggles of Night, not sure if I'll have the cash for anything else offhand.

Fun fact, the next item I was planning on purchasing with this character were Eyes of the Eagle, but then I learned literally yesterday that apparently Goggles of Night also give an Item Bonus to Perception Checks this edition, so I might as well purchase those instead to kill two birds with one stone as someone lacking Darkvision.

Amada shoulders his trident, surprised to see the fight resolved without any need for his weapon. At least I didn't have to break my leg again for this. Giving a quick whistle, Necalli returns to the elf's shoulder, oddly content with the rare fight in which she saw no injury.

"Happy to see you could make it, Kline. Does this ritual need more hands on deck? I've got a pair that are still surprisingly clean." The elf pulls down his scarf as he addresses the head of the Vigilant Seal, revealing a slight smirk. "Our target seems to be in good enough health, so if I'm not needed on ritual duty, I'll see to patching up my associates. Oh, and if you run into Dolok before I do, be sure to thank him for us."

◆◆ Haste on Astrid.
Hunt Prey on Disciple +12 Undead Lore, +13 Religion for Recall Knowledge, +Dubious Knowledge. Jakoby reminded me that I have Cryptid Scholar as well, so roll twice and accept the better result.

◇ [Necalli] Fly towards The Disciple and Dreng.

"Focus on the specter! If we destroy it, we may not have to fight its puppet!"

Raising his staff to carve arcane sigils in the air, the elf shouts a chant, barely audible over the storm. As he slams the staff into the arm, Astrid's movements become quicker, compensating for her calcification.

Amada smiles grimly upon seeing the bedraggled man. Well, this was somewhat anti-climactic. I have never met this man before. Perhaps that's why I was chosen to join this mission... I just checked, Amada and Drandle have literally never met.

"Prepare yourselves. I do not think our adversary will pass quietly into the night!" Amada readies his trident and staff, preparing himself for whatever surprises lie in wait.

Amada is good with this Aspiration Point usage, and is preparing to Haste Astrid. If we're in the same initiative block and Astrid posts before me, feel free to assume I've cast Haste upon you unless some effect prevents me from casting spells.
