![]() I'm so glad I no longer read WotC novels or any of the 4E gaming crap they've published since they've announced their conversion to their latest edition. The Forgotten Realms looks like a dragon and its treasure tash after its been slain, gutted for spell components, and looted. Wizards, you've lost a customer. Hi Paizo. Like my money? ![]()

I purchased the indugences (all 4) when Paizo first advertised them under my alias Blue Pigeon. I figured at $2.00 a pop, why not. Didn't get to read them until last night though. Good stuff, then I discovered Sinister Adventures. Will there be right ups on Harthagoa, The Kraken-fiend and Jacob Razor, Captain of the Spectral Fleet in the near future? ![]()
![]() WotC's Nightmare wrote: The sad thing is that despite the fau paux, these guys know the Realms, and have done a lot of work with the Realms. I still can't figure out why blowing the world up and turning it inside out was the best way to convert the Realms to 4E. Best for who? Certainly not the Realms fans that have a small library of Realms novels and sourcebooks. It just seems that everything about 4E and the Realms debacle is WotC telling us as customers what we should want instead of trying to make products that we actually want. I hope they get paid back for their arrogance tenfold. I will not purchase FR 4Ed or any other WotC products in the near future. To me, My old FR campaigns will be hte main stream, while the "canon" FR 4Ed will likely be a parallel universe. Next.

Background Skill (Linguistics, Lore (Frost giants)) Boreal Bloodline Child of Winter (Ex) You gain the constant benefit of endure elements, but only against cold temperatures. You can move across regular snow without penalty, and heavy snow costs you only 2 squares of movement instead of 4. You can move across icy surfaces without penalty, and never need to make Acrobatics checks to run or charge on ice. You leave no trail in ice or snow, and cannot be tracked (you may choose to leave a trail if you so desire). During winter months, you gain a +2 insight bonus on Initiative checks and Reflex saving throws. Clouded Vision Your eyes are obscured, making it difficult for you to see. Darkvision (Ex) Range 60 ft.; Darkvision is the extraordinary ability to see with no light source at all, out to a range specified for the creature. Darkvision is black and white only (colors cannot be discerned). It does not allow characters to see anything that they could not see otherwise-invisible objects are still invisible, and illusions are still visible as what they seem to be. Likewise, darkvision subjects a creature to gaze attacks normally. The presence of light does not spoil darkvision. Failed Winter Witch Apprentice (Knowledge (Arcana)) As a child, you were apprenticed as a winter witch in the frozen land of Irrisen, but you did not complete your training. Perhaps you disagreed with the politics of Irrisen's White Witches, or you had an altercation with one of your teachers, or maybe you were just ill suited to the practice of witchcraft. Whatever the reason, you left the ranks of the winter witches and left Irrisen. Whether or not you have continued your training on your own, you still retain some small knowledge of witchery and the magic of the icy north. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Knowledge (arcana) and Spellcraft checks to identify spells or magical effects with the cold descriptor, and one of these skills (your choice) is a class skill for you. In addition, you gain Hallit or Skald (this does not count toward your number of languages). Icy Skin (Ex) You gain cold resistance 5 No Racial Subtype You have chosen no racial subtype. Orc Blood (Ex) Half-orc count as both humans and orcs for any effect related to race. Orisons You can prepare a number of orisons, or 0-level spells. These spells are cast like any other spells, but they are not expended when used and may be used again. Sacred Tattoo Tattoos, piercings, and ritual scarification are sacred markings to many half-orcs. Half-orcs with this racial trait gain a +1 luck bonus on all saving throws. This racial trait replaces the orc ferocity racial trait. Shaman's Apprentice Only the most stalwart survive the years of harsh treatment that an apprenticeship to an orc shaman entails. Half-orcs with this trait gain Endurance as a bonus feat. Sorcerer A character who chooses sorcerer as her secondary class gains the following secondary class features.
Weapon Familiarity (Ex) Half-orcs are proficient with greataxes and falchions, and treat any weapon with the word "orc" in its name as a martial weapon. Winter's Soul The eternal winter of Irrisen is as much a part of you as it is the land. You may cast Ray of Frost once per day as a spell-like ability. This is cast at your highest caster level gained; if you have no caster level, it functions at CL 1st. Winter Mysteries Oracles of the winter mystery embrace the howling winds, biting cold, and wind-driven snows of the far north. Background:
Lyrev was born in the mountains of Irrisen, the daughter of an Ulfen father and a half-orc mother. At a young age, Lyrev was different. She would play in the snow even on the coldest of days, while other children huddled for warmth in their homes. To her, ice and snow were beautiful. Her father would sometimes call her his ‘Winter Strider.’ Her family and the beauty of winter were Lyrev’s entire world. But sadly, that world would be forever shattered by a harsh one… The Winter Witch, Nazhena Vassilliovna, great-great-granddaughter of Queen Elvanna, passed through Lyrev’s village, searching for someone she had heard who had a strange affinity with ice and snow. Nazhena wanted to mold this gifted person into another winter witch or even a cold sister. She was a bit surprised to see that the person she sought was a half-orc village girl. Lyrev’s father went into a rage when the winter witch demanded that his daughter come with her. His family had already suffered a great deal, having been brought low during the Winter War, and he refused to let the damned children of Baba Yaga take his only child. Nazhena struck down the brave Ulfen warrior with shards of deadly ice right before Lyrev’s eyes. The witch then ordered that the rest of the villagers be slain. As the witch’s guards began to unsheathe their weapons, Lyrev begged Nazhena to spare her people and that she would gladly come with the winter witch. The witch agreed, and she and her entourage left with the half-orc, but before leaving, Nazhena had the right ear of all of the villagers cut off, to serve as a reminder that she and the rest of the Winter Witches of Irrisen were not to be trifled with. Lyrev had learned that winter was not always beautiful. For several years, she studied under Nazhena, but as time went on, the half-orc eventually learned that her powers were different from most other winter witches: hers came from within herself as if her very blood was infused with the powers of ice, snow, and winter. This didn’t help much with her training. Lyrev saw firsthand at how evil the rulers of Irrisen were. It disgusted the half-orc as her winter witch mentor tried to sculpt the young sorceress into a true winter witch. However, this was, thankfully, not to be. As she continued to train under Nazhena, the day came where Lyrev made her escape. She would flee back to home village, hoping from there, she could flee with her mother and anyone else who wanted to escape the wrathful reign of the winter witches. During her attempt, the half-orc fell when the makeshift rope made out of bedsheets broke and she fell! Luckily, she hit a snow bank suffering only a few broken ribs, but her head hit a rock hidden under the snow. It left a scar across one of her eyes, which miraculously didn't take her eye out! Binding the wound quickly, Lyrev escaped back to home...only to find her home destroyed. A white dragon, under the orders of Nazhena had destroyed the village, the moment the white witch discovered her failed apprentice had fled. The winter witch had successfully deduced where her pupil would run to and sought to punish her for her defiance. The half-orc fled for miles until she found herself stuck within a blizzard. As her strength began to fail, the half-orc saw a man with stout but muscular figure. His light brown skin always holds a rosy flush, as though the stranger had just stepped in from the cold. His face was covered with many scars. His stern face soon faded, replaced by one filled with kindness and sympathy. Lyrev thought he was a human hunter, but then she saw something that told her he wasn't: from his back stretched two arching tusks carved from celestial ice! The man told Lyrev that he was the empyreal lord Tolc, lord of cold, frozen wilds, and survival. He had seen her and knew she was special. He told her that one day, she would have to return to Irrisen. He told her before the empyreal lord vanished with the wind: no matter what the children of Baba Yaga believed and said, winter is indeed beautiful despite its harshness. When she came to, she found a wooden holy symbol of caribou antlers cradling a javelin of ice resting gently in her hands. Despite the antlered man telling her she had to return to Irrisen, Lyrev couldn't bring herself to do so. She kept walking, travelling south...and not looking back. Description:
Lyrev Winter Strider is a tall, curvy, slightly athletically built half-orc with grayish-green skin and raven black hair that she wears in complex multiple braided pigtails and gold clasps, that is marked with bluish-white streaks. She also has several tattoos on her, a symbol of her Ulfen lineage, representing ice, winter, and snowflakes. Her right eye is icy blue, while her left eye is amber. Over her left eye is a massive scar. She dresses in blue, gray, purple, and white robes that show off her cleavage a good bit yet her clothes are trimmed with rough wolf and plush mink furs. Around her neck is a holy symbol of the empyreal lord of cold and winter, Tolc. Personality:
Lyrev is a kindhearted and passionate half-orc oracle who defends her friends and total strangers to the best of her abilities. She is playful and flirty, but she is more often shy and gets tongue tied when she sees a pretty face. While she has slowly become a devout follower of Tolc, she wonders why he believed in her and if she should return to Irrisen. But she wonders why. |
