Backstory:
Alma used to be a denizen of the aetherial plane, a misplaced newborn soul.
While wandering one day, a woman from the material plane, a talented practitioner of the arcane, had entered the aetherial.
As the woman, by the name of Lady Fiona Vezzara, an aasimar, frequented it every so often, the two struck a friendship, and got along like sisters.
At some point, lady Fiona had been researching a way to summon spirits into the material plane, and Alma volunteered for the testing of her early trials.
It worked, after some trial and error, and Alma formed in a body made of smoke like ectoplasm.
It had been some time since, but Alma had to decide what to do with her unusual existence.
Aside from being an arcane practitioner, lady Fiona ran a restaurant with a small restaurant included.
Alma took a fancy to music and singing, watching the various performers over time, and practiced it fervently when she thought nobody was looking.
But, as fate would have it, after one event at the restaurant, when she thought it empty, someone did stay a bit longer.
A noblewoman of particular pale complexion, Madam DiRuzza, from the posher part of The Crossroads, took a liking to the curious phantom girl.
"How would you like to perform for real, for an actual crowd to enjoy your singing? You have talent, my girl."
Alma's interest was moved and, eager to experience more, accepted. Such began her time as a protogé and aide of the woman, owner of an actual theater, fit for a large crowd.
Much of the usual crowd were the rich and of nobility, and Alma became quite versed in conversation and studies involving The Crossroads itself.
Current day, she has become a modest but well spoken young lady, always seeking civiliy before anything else.
Lady DiRuzza, for some odd reason, vanished one night, leaving the theater closed, and Alma looking for the disappearance of her patron and friend.
This leads her to be, hoping to hear anything that might be a clue, in the Obelisk Lounge on a rather fateful Thursday night.
Benefits: You can emit a frightful moan as a standard action. All living creatures within a 30-foot spread must succeed on a Will save (DC 10 + 1/2 your character level + your Charisma modifier) or become panicked for 2d4 rounds. This is a supernatural sonic mind-affecting fear effect.
GM, another question on a martialist class technique.
Einhander:
Einhander (Ex): Some martialists learn how to best fight
with one weapon, using their empty hand to balance. The
martialist gains Dodge as a bonus feat. As long as the martialist uses only one weapon to attack and has one free hand, he deals an extra half of his Int modifier (rounded down) in damage when using a finessable weapon. This extra damage is multiplied on a critical hit.
How would you rule this when a martialist uses unarmed strikes?
Would the technique be limited to one single attack, or would a duo of unarmed blows with elbows/legs count as 1 weapon for this?
While thinking of a ghost with class levels, the archetype Beast Bonded witch came to mind.
Since well, undead meet mr Perma-death when hitting 0 HP, unless they have an ace up their sleeve.
That left me with a few questions.
1) If a ghost witch drops to a handful of HP (gravely injured?), would they be able to go into the familiar's body, like a living witch could?
2) What would happen if, after body snatching, the host body dies?
Does the ghostly form simply exit and reappear, at the few HP it had before?
I wouldn't turn to flesh & blood, i never had a corporeal form. :)
On the disruption of tangibility, i propose the miss chance for nonmagic weapons reduces to 50% in antimagic zones? Still a fair chance of getting hit.
GM, would i be right to assume anti-magic zones are a part of the game setting itself, not just a mere concern of what PCs might do.
While anti-magic field says supernatural abilities don't affect the space within it, it doesn't say it prevents creatures' innate traits from not working.
Bearing both your concerns and the above into account, would it be an option that the zones are influential to the extent, that the hit/miss chance is but 50% against non-magical weapons.
Afaik, anti-magic works on (attempted) spells and ongoing magic effects. Magic weapons would still very much be legit in an anti-magic zone? Imbued and such. +# Bows fired outside of such fields could hit just fine, as well. I reckon we'd encounter intelligent enemies who are creative, would i assume correct?
I haven't yet seen casters throw anti-magic fields at leisure, and i've seen some high level casters in play. (lvl 9-10)
I wasn't planning on being a full caster, frankly speaking. No such spell coming from me.
That aside, who's to say i make it to lvl 10 (un)alive? ^^
With such a setting, i am inclined to carefully ask....
<<, >>.
As you mentioned no specifics on race, would you consider 3PP races?
I have 3PP Deathless Ghost material. Contrary to the name, permadeath and weaknesses as per regular rules for undead. It just has different origins for being a spirit. ;)
Quite similar to a phantom, and any ghostly powers such as telekinesis require feats.
It is a racial class lvl thing, capping at lvl 3.
Endzeitgeist reviewed it positively, if it's worth mentioning.
Japan/asia/Tian Xia is filled with spirits of various kinds.....a next-gen spirit too, perhaps?
Now, to be realistic, I'm not going to personally re-check everyone's encumbrance very often. But I'll be keeping an eye on it and if it seems too high I'll calculate the total weight a character is carrying.
They are LN, so they may well be more of 'keepers of the justice/peace', doing what must be done for the greater good, with less the moral dilemmas the normal LG may have.
Being a soul without a previous life, none of the two prior to manifesting on the material plane.
If i was to think of one....
A spiritually connected person/woman dreamed of her lost daughter.
Alma could have wandered into such a dream by accident, and found a possible connecton to transition into the material realm, but in the shape of the lost daughter.
There's a dimension of dreams after all, a soul could have wandered into it.
