Pathfinder 1E Interest Check - Tian Xia: Eyes of Ruin

Recruitment

301 to 337 of 337 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | next > last >>

Oh it sounds like we should start thinking about clearing our schedule for some reading soon. Great :D

Appreciate the continued updates.

That's some serious devotion. :)

Definitely should get to work on that Friendly Yakuza then; I have the classes picked out, just need ye olde work put in to fill things out and pick a backstory

I'm making the "Lecherous Old Samurai" character archetype.

So, how's the thing developing? I'm having like a dozen ideas to be put in paper and pixels here xD

I'm still on my one fishy plan - but also ever curious :D

Also a bit late but happy lunar new year!

and to you good gentile!

I've refined my "Friendly Yakuza" idea to being one Suzuki Nakamura, likely to be statted as a Prodigy (Mimic)//Striker or Sentinel.

He has a thirst for combat, and an even great one for KNOWLEDGE. Specifically, for learning (or as some people might uncharitably put it "stealing") others' techniques. He prides himself on being able to take anything his opponents could possibly dish out, and throw it back twice as strong.

While on the surface a bit of a thug, Suzuki is a pretty friendly guy overall, and is sort of the platonic ideal of a Yakuza; honorable, loyal, and driven by a thirst for justice, tempered by his love of his own freedom and a need to walk his own path.

Quite honestly he's basically a mix of several protagonists of the Yakuza franchise; while initially inspired by Majima (who forms the core of his love for battle) he's got a bit of Kiryu, Akiyama, and even some Saejima in there as well.

Gestalt level eight, but with exceptions. One side of the gestalt must be one of the following classes and cannot be multiclassed out of: Monk, Unchained Monk, Legendary Monk, Samurai, Legendary Samurai, Ninja, Kinetic Shinobi, Kineticist, Legendary Kineticist, Gnostic, or one of the Akhashic Mysteries, Heroes of the East, Heroes of the Jade Oath, Path of War, or Spheres of Power/Might classes.

Would you consider a PoW or Spheres archetype of a class? I've got a concept with a Warrior of Blind Faith/Dirt-Spattered Angel Expert practitioner paladin on the fixed side, occupying much the same conceptual space as a samurai.

Hey all, I have a discord server set up for games I run/play in. If you would all like to join for better, more real time discussion for this game, and anything else, feel free to send a friend request/message to UncleMonkey#9791.

Since we're sharing stories, allow me to enlighten you with the tale of Daitsuchi Okami, only member of the Daitsuchi clan.

Okami served as the Emperor's champion for many years, doing his best to guide him through the trials and tribulations that only one such as the Emperor could encounter.

Okami earned his position when he beat the former Champion in a duel at a brothel. Okami beat the former champion to death with the wooden blade the man contemptually threw him. Okami was drunk at the time, and woke up in prison, where he sat for two weeks while the Emperor debated his fate with his advisors.

In the end, it was decided that this was nothing more than a rather elaborate interview for a job.

It turned out to be a job that Okami excelled in.

Years later, Okami would be granted the right to form his own clan, after the battle of the Crystal Lotus, which involved an assault through a Swallow Tail pass, where Okami himself held the line against an Oni army for over three days. When reinforcements arrived, he was leaning up against the stack of dead Oni behind him drinking sake.

His only response was "Oh, you're here now." before slumping into unconsciousness due to his wounds. At the party for the naming ceremony of his clan, someone pointed out that Okami's name now meant "Loyal Wolf". Okami's replied only with laughter.

After forming his clan, Okami travelled Goka looking for samurai to join, but it's said that none met his exacting standards.

So, for now, he's a clan of one.

Okami is well known for for his love of both strong Sake and beautiful women. His clan's mon is a black moon pierced by a red spear.

Shadow Lodge

Is this still recruiting? If so I have a fun idea with an elven Mageknight//Magus (Kensai) as a swordsman wanting to learn all that there is to learn in the world. He's a wanderer traveling the world in search of purpose. His name is Cale'Anon

(Level 20 build would be something like Mageknight 20//magus 9/evangelist 6/great mind 5. Would have limited psionic casting, very limited divine magic, moderate arcane casting (18 effective magus levels) and some fun sphere casting power and skill with a sword) party role would be incredibly mobile melee striker and mage slayer)

Also interested; considering a SoM Technician (Suit Pilot)/Conscript build, with the Suit Pilot locked. Because giant armour and hovertanks. Plus lots of flexibility for going into situations needing more stealth than 'frontal assault with hovertanks'

Game is not actually recruiting yet - still an interest check due to unfortunate accidents regarding the source material. So welcome :D

Shadow Lodge

So we have a while to wait then.
Still, might as well build the character.

Shadow Lodge

Ok, Strength: 9 Dexterity:22 Constitution: 12 Intelligence: 22 Wisdom: 14 Charisma: 14 after racials and level advancements and whatnot.

Any idea when it transitions from interest check to proper recruitment? It's got 7 pages. One would assume interest has been found

One would assume it would be when the source material has been rewritten :P

Update time!

The player manual has bumped up to 43 pages so far. There's a few more things I want to touch on in the document as well. It's looking like it will be about 45-50 pages altogether.

This would be the last update on that - about 2 weeks ago.

Update time!

I haven't had a ton of time to work on the document since the brewery I work at has released two new lines of product and it's been 10-14 hour shifts daily for most of January. The money has been great, but my freetime has been nonexistent since I am one of the few people who will work on days when the workload is heavier.

I've only been getting snippets done during the twice daily 15-minute breaks and what remains of my lunch break each day- usually 5 to 10 minutes. Now that the new product lines have been released, I can post reliably.

I'm also in talks with a potential employer about finally getting my cushy college degree job I spent six years on, so hopefully this won't crop up around Fall/Autumn when our next product line is due for release.

46 pages is where the document currently stands and the image folder is roughly 70 images large. So some progress, however small, has been made.

Now I'll answer questions.

Cool stuff

I do like some of the ideas I am seeing float around, even if I do know some may change once the setting information goes live.

For Path of War, archetypes being used are fine. For Spheres, however, I would rule that it would have to be the classes.

I'd be down for that. I can also create my own Discord if that'd be more convenient.

Nice to see an update : )

I think a specific discord for the game would be the best, if we have one.

Hopefully you will get that job that actually uses your degree. :D Good to hear from you!

Sounds interesting

Awesome! Thanks for the update!

Would you allow an Aegis into your game?

They get access to Path of War and Akashic Mysteries via customizations and if you allow the Mekanikos archetype from the recently released "Arcforge: Stars Left Behind," they even get a Spheres Archetype. There's also the Ascendant Aegis from the "City of 7 Seraphs" book which also gets access to Spheres.

Speaking of Spheres, there was just a playtest put out for a new Veilweaving Sphere that gives Spheres users access to Akashic Mysteries veils, and also vice versa (giving Akashic characters access to spheres). Would material from this playtest be allowed?

Last but not least, what would you say to the idea of playing some combination of a Kirthfinder Rogue, Kirthfinder Barbarian, Kirthfinder Fighter, and/or Kirthfinder Monk?

Also trying something that will be VERY Bleach inspired; Darkness Defender/Conscript gestalt, 8 Str, 19 Dex, 18 Con, 10 Int, 18 Wis, 13 Cha.

Daisho Expertise and Deadly Agility feats allows Dex to hit and damage with a Katana, which makes Dex somewhat of a god stat for this build.

Offensively this build is going to be somewhat of a monster; Berserker is good for plenty of pain, as is Fencing, and they combo well together.

Defensively, I'm thinking Guardian and Shield. Solid defence there, options to boost my touch AC, all around good spheres.

So I'll have a build that will have solid AC, solid to-hit and damage, solid DR/-, and if I grab Healer's Hands, some ability to heal too.

I think I might change things up a bit once recruitment starts. I think I'm going to play an Ulfen barbarian/Ranger who got stuck when the world split up, or is descended from people who were.

How's the rewrite coming along?

Obligatory hope everyone is doing alright out there.

If this is actually going to happen, I'm very much interested in playing. Not sure as what yet. Probably a path of war side using riven hourglass on one side combined with a caster on the other. Maybe the paladin pow archtype into a pow prestige class?

Aye let's hope the rewrite is going well, everyone is doing well and that GM is full of energy and hype :)

I'm still interested, too.
My current idea is a follower of the Monkey King. Alignment TN, with a focus on the nature and travel aspects of his deity, rather than the trickery part.
Build would be Ordained Defender Zweihander Sentinel Warder // Green Scourge Ape Shaman Druid fighting with a shillelaghed quarterstaff in ape wild shape form.

Ash Raven wrote:
Ideas for Build Rules (Semi-Negotiable)

Starting Negotiation: may I suggest to decrease point-buy to Epic Fantasy (25). With all your bonuses (Ki, Gestalt, Hero Points, DR, HP, Feat Taxes) you'r providing enough high power.

Not that it matters, but 25 point buy is good for SAD builds, but having more will allow more MAD builds to be viable. Sure MAD builds will still be playable, but it will be much easier for them with higher point buy. Negotiating the rules doesn't have much merit before the GM comes back with an idea about when he thinks he'll be done though.

That's the big thing in Gestalt games, yeah.

SAD classes can thrive, especially in gestalt, with about a 10 PB if need be. MAD classes cannot.

Raising the PB has diminishing returns in overall power after a point, but continuous returns in build flexibility.

Actually, IME past about level 5 I've had no balance issues running games where I just told everybody to pick their stats (of course, everybody chose all 18's, as I expected). At level 8, there should be no off-balance repercussions, since the levels where attributes outstrip class level power are past already.

The exception to this rule is high power games that allow you to break the 18-max at 1st level, thus rmeoving this premise; if you can buy a 30 Int pre-racial, SAD classes are just flat out better again.

I'm sure I'm one of many who are currently interested that see this thread. Will wait until the players guide is released before i get too committed to an idea.

What? Come on, get committed to one or more concepts before recruitment even starts. All the cool kids are doing it.

Lol. Its all good. I have a myriad of ideas, but i don't want to committ to a build or get married to a personality yet. I doubt I'd use anything from Spheres, but PoW I'm curious to use with different ideas, especially paired with some of the different classes we have to take. I'm primarily a paizo junkie.

I have commitment issues you might say.
