I'm pretty sure we have to nurse him through sobering up. Also, as the Player's Guide mentions, decisions we make with key NPCs have major ramifications on future events.
"Well, Agatsu, he's your friend, in this state he is not very helpful. Perhaps you should convince him to sober up. It's a little late in the day to start our investigation of the Plague House, perhaps we can help your friend instead?"
Me too. Just got on now, I sent Jason an email describing how to do it.
I was kind of waiting for Agastu to respond to the last post as he is friends with Omast, but I'm still here.
"It seems this Plague House is key. And, if I remember correctly, didn't Kilien see Rodrick there the day she arrived here?"
"They mentioned some sort of investigation that Rodrik was pursuing?"
"I agree, she seemed willing to help our investigation. At least she already knows our intent."
Alistaire grimaces in pain at the blow. He feels a burning sensation from the wound. He then strikes the one Aradesh hit hoping to drop one of the attackers, but fights defensively.
Alistaire turns at the sudden intrusion and he swiftly swirls around in an intricate display of swordsmanship to make it obvious that the enemies have zero chance of defeating him in physical combat.

Sorry for my lag in posting, I'm slammed with school right now.
"I agree with Killien. Unfortunately, Kurst more or less hired us right out in the open where anyone paying attention could see, Then he let us in through the militia cordon to see the rooms at Ramblehouse. I don't think we should make the culprits' job easier by being split up tonight."
"If Brinya and Rodrik probably exchanged hopeknives as is the custom here among couples, it would have been Brinya's hopeknife getting that inscription. She is the one that probably asked for the engraving."
Alistaire steps up to one of the remaining wolves and attacks.
"How reputable is this weaponsmith? Alistaire asks the people that live here.
"Do any of you that live here recognize the name, Melira? Also, we should probably look at the rooms the other strangers occupied until yesterday." Alistaire waits to see if any of the Trunau residents recognize the name.
"Well, we might as well go check out this mystery person's room. Perhaps we can find something more there."
Alistaire notices the hesitation in Cham's response. "Miss, are you certain you have no information about anything unusual or unusual visitors the last few nights? Please, anything could be of value, no matter how small the detail."
Alistaire listens intently as Kurst explains the situation. He is still somewhat confused by the idea of an outsider like himself being asked to be involved in such a delicate and local matter. However, Aradesh rescues him from his indecision. "I would be more than happy to lend my sword to your investigation. If this was truly a murder instead of a suicide, then the culprit will have a strong interest in preventing its discovery."
Alistaire, always an early riser, went for his morning walk, he had only been gone a short time when he noticed a commotion and saw a few militia running back in the direction he had just come from. Worried, he headed back and saw the quickly gathering crowd outside the inn. AS he approached, he noticed several of the others he had met last night. Being the only familiar faces he knew, he stepped up to them. "What has happened? Why are they blocking off the Inn?"
Alistaire also listens attentively and interjects when appropriate. As the night winds down he heads to the Inn to secure a room for the night.
The town was vibrant, as most towns living amidst danger were. Alistaire wandered the festival until the hopeknife ceremony commenced. He nodded with approval over the pragmatic, if somewhat somber, duty being imposed upon the girl with her entrance to adulthood. However, he was somewhat taken aback by then being selected by the girl for the contest. Alistaire was built more for speed and agility than for direct tests of strength. After the contest ends, Alistaire's ears perk up when he hears the half-elf girl mention giants in the hills. "What giants? How do you come by this information?"
