Male Human Sorcerer 1 (celestial)

Sasha doubts that anything he does will have an effect on this contraption, so he'll just look for allies that need healing.

"I'd like to press on, Tristan, but if everyone else is in favour of resting, so be it."

"I'm not tired. Let's go a little further."

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (celestial)

Sasha tries to peek around the corner. Since his crossbow won't help much against a wooden cart, he tries to lob a blob of acid at it. (attack roll 22)(damage 4)(with Point Blank Shot)

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (celestial)

Uh-oh. If there is still time, Sasha is going to move away from the entrance at top speed, probably back into the corridor.

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (celestial)

Sasha loads his crossbow and will fire it if he sees a more sensible target than the cart. Otherwise, he delays.

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (celestial)

"Yes. We have only scratched the surface of the mysteries of this mine. Let's press on."

"Moserately advanced arcane spells ... I think I may be able to make something of these at some point," I muse over the scroll, before carefully rolling it and putting it away in my pack.

"Excuse me", Sasha flashes a broad smile, "but that happens to be my area of expertise, and we might need those spells sooner than we might wish."

Tristan of Redbough wrote:
Tristan waits for everyone to stand clear. Then, unless someone objects he casts mage hand and pushes the top skull off of the pile.

Sasha is not objecting.

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (celestial)

Sasha is quick to get back on the platform, grinning sheepishly and keeping his crossbow at the ready.

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (celestial)

"Good idea!" Sasha follows suit and casts Light on the tip of his crossbow. He carefully moves a little towards the table, to try and shed light on as much as possible of the room, to discern its extent and possible exits.

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (celestial)

Worrying that conventional weapons do not seem to harm these things, Sasha lets go a searing blob from his hand (Acid splash attack roll 12+2=14), assuming he has a clear shot.

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (celestial)

"I doubt my magic would do anything to those ... things", Sasha mutters, taking out and loading his crossbow. He will try to stay out of harm's way, if possible. If any of the statues come within 10 feet he will cast Mage Armor on himself.

"Sasha, it would seem we are the rearguard," I say to the sorcerer. "I hope you have some skill with that sword of yours?"

"Oh, I prefer to live by my wits rather than the sword", Sasha answers flippantly to cover his insecurity, "but I'll see what I can do."

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (celestial)

Sasha ponders the strange item he is holding. "Gee, the gnomes even fight complicated." He gets ready to fall in behind anyone who will lead the way onwards.

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (celestial)

Perception: d20+0=11

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (celestial)

Sasha's initiative: 18+2=20

As soon as he can, Sasha will try to climb up the steps to assist his friends, stashing the crossbow first.

Eltariel Elessand wrote:
"Did anyone bring any more rope?" I ask, "I don't think this is quite enough."

Glad to be of assistance, Sasha produces a length of rope. "Here you are, madam", he says with a smile.

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (celestial)

Sasha takes out his crossbow and loads it carefully, glancing around nervously. For the first time, he might actually have to kill something - or someone.

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (celestial)

Perception d20+0 = 4. No luck there.

Tristan of Redbough wrote:

Tristan looks back up at the escarpment again. "I support any plan that negates or delays us having to climb up that!" he declares.

"Seconded."

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (celestial)

Survival roll: DC20+0 = 16

Now that the weather has cleared up and everyone is singing (not that I understand a word), things are indeed looking brighter. Sasha braces himself to climb the hill.

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (celestial)

"Yes, let's hear them!"

Sasha has taken an immediate liking to Tristan. Maybe this trip isn't going to be so bad after all.

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (celestial)

Sasha draws his cloak tighter around him. His useless sword bumping against his shins, he pulls up the hood and wonders whether this was such a good idea after all.

To Tristan, between clenched teeth:
"Yeah, friend, I could do with some lifting of the spirit right now. I couldn't ask you to bring out your instrument in this squall, but maybe you could sing something for us? Something heroic?"

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (celestial)

Survival check: d20+0: 1

"Ah, so you are a kind of sorcerer?" I realise with a smile.

"Hey, you say potato..." I shrug and smile.

"Welcome all. We seem to be shaping up to quite the merry bunch. Tristan, why don't you join us? And you other fine folk will have to bear with me, not being good with languages and all that. But I hope that we'll get along just fine. As I always say, a stranger's just a friend you haven't met."

Playing the buffoon a little always puts people at ease.

Eltariel wrote:
"That is true, but wizards have to study for years to learn such spells," I reply thoughtfully. "When you do them, do you have to speak words or make gestures?"

"Yes, I do. For now, I need that to stay focused. But one day maybe I shall be able to do it purely with my mind."

To Avinar, with a broad smile:

"Welcome, er... comrade in arms. I trust we will have a swell time of it." I stretch out my hand to Avinar in greeting, then think better of it.

"Magical Talent?" my curiosity piques, "how do you do that?" I ask, "what means do you use? I'd be interested in seeing your talent demonstrated, if we have the chance. I studied the arts myself, although a, er, misunderstanding with my teachers has caused a sabbatical in my studies," I cough slightly, a little embarrassed to blurt it out.

OOC: Tom, could you post here IC for IC stuff? It could get confusing otherwise.

OOC: Yeah, sure. Just having trouble with the messageboards.

"I'm not quite sure myself", I answer with a shrug and a smile. "I call it soul magic. Watch." I stretch out my palm and a flickering blue flame appears in it. I move my other hand through it. "It doesn't hurt you if your soul is pure. In fact, it's rather comforting and often makes me feel better." I suddenly turn grave for a moment. "But it can hurt people terribly too. [pause] I don't want to talk about it. I was young and foolish then."

"I've learned to harness my power in some more ways, like putting people to sleep when they wish you harm, or to harden the very air to protect myself. Or you, should you wish me to. But that's hardly interesting. Wizards do that all the time."

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (celestial)

Sasha is happy to finally have some gainful employment.

OOC: A young human male with a shock of dishevelled dark blonde hair wearing no armour but carrying a large sword saunters up to Eltariel and flashes a shy smile at her.

Are you on patrol duty too? Charmed.

Male Human Sorcerer 1 (celestial)

Hello all,

here's a sketch of Sasha the Sorcerer. I'll get back to equipment and stuff later. Hope this is acceptable.
