About Albawar Grizzlemane
Albawar Grizzlemane
Background:
Albawar was the first-born son of an ancient dwarven mining family who lived the city of Highhelm. He spent most of his childhood exploring the caverns of his ancestors and swimming in the vast underground lakes which his family mined for ore and precious gems. He also spent a vast amount of his time outside of his usual lessons cultivating his knowledge about his race and lineage and learning the ways of the warriors of old. As he grew, his father noticed his profound lack of interest in the family business and the workings of the mines which worried him greatly as Albawar was supposed to inherit the vast wealth that his father had built. They argued this point many times over the years until one day, at the age of 47, Albawar decided to forsake his family name and inheritance so that he may do with his life what he please.
Having left the burdens of his previous life, Albawar enrolled himself into the service of the Highhelm guard and learned the ways of combat from his veteran brethren for the next 10 years. During this time Albawar focused most of his training in the use of the ancient dwarven weapons, feeling a particuliar connection to the age old designs and their deadly applications.
Eventually though, his desire for discovery returned and he left Highhelm to see of the world what he could. He made his way down from Highhelm to the nearest coastal city with a merchant train before finding a job as a mercenary on the first ship to leave port. He then spent the next 13 years travelling from city to city, coast to coast, exploring and discovering what he could about the world at large and his race's place in it. Albawar also spent a goodly number of years in the shackles where he enjoyed the challenge of living in such a difficult and taxing environment while he made a name for himself and eared a fair bit of coin in the process.
In this way he found himself hired by a business partner of his father's, the Deeptreasure Mining Company, to guard a small shipment of their that was to make it's way to Sargava aboard the Jenivere...
Temperament:
Albawar is a kindhearted dwarf deeply steeped in the ancient lore and combat traditions of his race. He loves the thrill of travel, discovery and combat and serves his own needs and interests before others but never hesitates to help others once his needs are met. He is deeply linked to his weapons and armour having worked hard an traveled far and wide to obtain them and will not hesitate to burst out in anger against anyone who dares mistreat them. Like most of his race he has a strong love for treasure, particularly rare gems as he has spent a good portion of his early life surrounded by them. As far as magic goes he is not strongly for or against it having fought alongside or against magicians during his travels. Nevertheless he remains suspicious of most casters and is happy of the protection his ancient dwarven blood grants him against the mystical arts.
