Backstory:
Aisha was born into a difficult life. Her earliest days were spent in the city of Urgir in the Hold of Belkzen among the slave to the powerful Empty Hand Tribe acting as a slave and house servant to one of the powerful orc captains dwelled there. Her mother Talia, herself a daughter of slaves, was just another slave among the hordes of humans used as tools by the savage orc warlords, with very little exceptional about her save a surprisingly beautiful appearance among the dirt and grim of slavery. Her mother’s beauty attracted the attentions of a captain among the Empty Hand, as dangerous but intelligent orc named Arkus the Rampager. Rather than simply take her, he arranged for her to become his personal slave. Seemingly entranced by her beauty, he was surprisingly gentle with her. Though Aisha’s mother admitted that she never really loved Aisha’s father, she felt safe and cared for, which was much more than most slaves in Belkzen. Unfortunately, this wasn’t always the case. Arkus was a berserker of considerable renown, but this led to him having a hair trigger temper and violent episodes that he had little control over. Despite his desire for his slave, Talia and Aisha were both targeted indiscriminately during his rages, as he no longer recognized them. Aisha became adept at avoid her father’s fury while she worked, though frequently his rages were unavoidable and she became used to the threat of pain and the fear that she might set him off. In time, this developed into an almost trace-like state, where she learned to tune out all her feelings while her father raged, dulling the pain behind walls of indifference and forced calm.
As she grew older, her duties became heavily involved in cooking and cleaning Arkus’s home while he was away and keeping him from going into violent fits when he was home. One day she failed badly. Arkus fell into a particularly violent rage, killing one other slave and beating Aisha before throwing her against a table, causing her to strike her head and black-out momentarily. As she regained her bearings, she saw her father still lost in his fury and menacing her mother, who was already bloodied and injured. Fear and rage filled her and in that moment her usual façade of calm that she had learned to control her pain shattered, unleashing the built up power and her repressed agony. The power broke from her body in a savage scream that ripped the room apart and hurled her father against the wall with a sickening crack. Finally calming herself, she desperately examined her father, only to find that the blow to the head had shattered his skull. Her mother realized that her daughter would die if she remained, executed for attacking her master. Taking a number of items she had gathered over the years in service to her doting lover, she provided her daughter enough supplies to flee Urgir and escape her fate. Aisha fled into the night, narrowly making her way out of the city and fleeing into wilderness. She began to explore her strange new power, realizing that it might be her only hope to surviving her new life as an outcast and a fleeing slave. Her control over her powers however, remained tenuous. While she had enough control to defend herself, her powers would flair at random times, destroying things around her and making it difficult for her to hide herself from pursuit. A pursuit that, unfortunately, came from one of her father’s former lieutenants named Morgo the Black, who had taken her father position in a brutal show of strength and power. She was forced to constantly run, never allowed to stop and make a life while he sought vengeance against her. It was in the foothills of the Mindspin Mountains that she finally, at least for a time, found a refuge. A fellow outcast, a full-blooded orc exiled from his tribe simply calling himself Broken Fangs, offered her sanctuary and help in controlling her powers. A failed shaman’s apprentice, Broken Fangs was cast out of his tribe for seemingly failing to earn the gods’ favor. In truth, he discovered that great power could dwell within a mortal vessel as easily as it could be granted by divine grace. He slowly coached her in the use of her mental talents over months taught her how to gain control over her psychic might. Eventually, Morgo’s hunters tracked her down again, but not before she had finally mastered control of her pain and her magic. Broken Fangs pointed her south east toward the town of Trunau, a place that he had occasionally visited and he knew as possibly the only place in Belkzen that she could make a life for herself. She was sad to be parted from her mentor, but he promised that is need not be a permanent parting, if she desired to meet with him again. Aisha made her way south to the town, where she did indeed find somewhere to settle in. That was three years ago now. In that time, she’s developed a reputation as a bit of a skittish recluse, though most people credit this to remnants of her time enslaved by the orc horde. Despite this, she’s made a handful of friends and even attracted a few admirers that find her appearance, clearly mirroring her mother’s beauty, oddly attractive. However, Aisha is beginning to improve and without the constant hounding of Morgo’s hunters she’s developed and attachment to her new home that makes her willing and able to fight to maintain her sanctuary. Appearance/Personality:
Character Art
Aisha is still rather young, only 19 years old, but her hard early life makes her calm and mature beyond what is expected of a young woman. She is quiet and thoughtful, though this partly comes from the need to focus her mind and control her own pain to harness her powers properly. Despite her attitude, she has a vein of courage and determination in her that gives her an almost overwhelming drive once she sets herself on a task and a force of will that can overcome any obstacle. Allies and Enemies:
Close Friend: Broken Fangs (orc shaman), an orc shaman who trained her in her psychic talents
Unknown Friend: Gaius Atreides (human fighter), one of the younger members of the town guard in Trunau. He’s developed feelings for Aisha over the past year, but never could bring himself to approach her. Aisha knows him distantly, but has no idea that he’s interested in her and only considers him a passing acquaintance. He’s honest and kind, more than willing to help someone in need. Known Enemy: Morgo the Black (orc barbarian), her father’s former lieutenant who still hunts her to avenge his death and make an example of her for escaping him Unknown Enemy: Kiara (human witch or psychic), formerly a fellow slave in Arkus’s household, Kiara’s mother was one of the slaves who died in Arkus’s last rampage. She was always resentful that Aisha and her mother for receiving better treatment from Arkus due to his lust for Talia. When her mother died, she snapped, running away in the confusion following his death and coming after Aisha, intent on hunting her down and killing her for failing to save her mother as well. |
