GM Piratey Steve... I appreciate all you've done for us in this game, and your willingness to take things and move them forward, but I am going to be selfish and bow out of this campaign. It has been a great deal of fun for the most part, and you have proven yourself to be a very fair and fun-inducing GM, but I am going to look to other diversions. "Aye, aye Cap'n" Aghon says as he grabs the fork in question, stowing it in a loop on his pack. He then summons some of Hanspur's energy into the room to heal his allies, mentally making sure Hanspur doesn't heal their foes.

Selective channeling out our enemies, and channeling two action's worth of healing energy.

Channel Energy x2: 4d6 + 2 ⇒ (6, 2, 3, 2) + 2 = 15

"If we're gonna get out outta here, let's get to gettin'!" Aghon says after their companions respond to the healing energy.

Sorry I peaked. Two nat 20's in a row for Jordan... In my games when that happens I have them roll again. Three nat 20s in a row is instant death for whatever it is, because the dice just said so. :P

Aghon skirts the edge of the cave and makes his way over to their allies. He starts slicing at the seaweed wraps entombing Sandara with the tines of his trident.

Following the captain's lead but, obviously hoping for better results, Aghon slogs forward and jabs his trident at the stunned grindylow spellcaster.

Trident Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

And the gods laugh as he misses even worse than Culder.

"How can we miss something that can barely even move!?"

Clearly the dice algorithm is favoring magic over melee at this point.

Realizing that the team's best option to dispatch these baddies is to have them immobile. Aghon uses his last bit of powerful magic, summoning another cacophonous burst of sound.

I drew the template on the map this time so location is exact.
DC 16 Fort Save to avoid being stunned for another full round.

"Squiddy b!tch!" Aghon yells as his flesh is rended by the tine of her harpoon. He then wills the magical ether to flow out of him centered right on the devilfish, the area explodes with a burst of thunderous sound.

Sound Burst spell Fort Save DC is 16, if they fail they are stunned for one full round.

Edit: Also want to be clear that Aghon would have centered the spell where it would affect both the devilfish and the grindylow. Thanks!

Invoking Hanspur's blessing to ignore difficult terrain, Aghon runs through the water and weeds as far as he can, trying to reach safer ground.

Activating Agile Feet, and then double moving. Icon is moved on the Roll20 map. Might have just moved myself into more danger, but there's no way Aghon would have stayed in a position where something was trying to tangle him up and maybe drown him.

Man am I glad I didn't spam my channels on those damn undead grindylows!!!! I might have to use my spontaneous casting ability to use one of my spell slots for a cure spell as well.

"Woopsies!" Aghon hoots as he takes a step back and, hopefully, out of the way of that barbed tentacles of the beast that just gave Culder the once over. He then obliges Culder's call for healing by summoning another channel of healing energy, mentally selecting out their devilfish enemy, so he doesn't benefit.

I thought of that but with only three uses of Channel Energy left for the day, and that being the only way I can heal from a distance, I didn't want to waste it spamming squiddy ghouls...

"I mean... I could." Aghon looks at the Cap'n strangely for a moment, then continues. "But Hanspur only allows me so many bursts of that energy a day before he thinks I've had enough and won't grant me any more. I've only a few bursts left before I won't be able to use it again at all... If you think it worth it, I sure will?"

Aghon says as he cocks his crossbow to join in Jordan's 'fish-in-a-barrel' scenario of the grindyghouls, "is, why did the grindylows allow these undead monstrosities to continue to exist at all anyway? Why not just kill them themselves? Also, did these things come about because of those damned biting flies on the surface? If so, those flies are a lot more dangerous than I previously thought!"

I'm just glad he can talk, so he can tell us whatever it is he spotted. I've had animal companions without speech be the only "member" of a party that spotted something in other games, and they have to flap around furiously and or chitter/squawk/meow/bark loudly in an attempt to get their clueless masters to be aware of the danger.

Seeing Jordan still suffering from his wounds, and the Cap'n not at full health, Aghon decides the best thing he can do, is to once again summon some healing magic, once again mentally selecting out the two grindylows he can see.

Seeing both Jordan and Culder continue to be hard pressed, and wounded, Aghon calls down another burst of Hanspur's healing energy to heal his friends.

Once again selecting out Grindylow #8 and #2 so they don't receive the benefits of the healing.

Aghon, seeing that there are about to be more squidoblins(TM) coming their way down the southern passage, hollers to Jarvis and Culder. "Boys! You might want to step back. There're about to be more of these little suckers, and we don't want you bein' attacked from two directions at once. Step lively, they're comin' from the south!" He then steps back to provide the room necessary for both Jarvis and the Cap'n to do the same.

Sorry, if I had taken a look at the map earlier I would have realized that my action is basically pointless while we're in this tight spot. Aghon will use the delay action, and wait and see if his turn can be of use at a later time.

Aghon looks left, looks right, sees zero opportunity to do anything of immediate use, and grips his trident and shield tightly waiting to see if there's anything useful he can do. "Come get me you ugly buggers!" He yells, hoping the grindylows will come within range of the Cap'n's oar, and Jordan's blade.

"Damn squiddies." Aghon mutters under his breath. He then presents his trident prominently and calls out to Hanspur for a bit of healing for his comrades.

I'll select out Grindylow #1 and #2. The others haven't taken damage as far as I can tell anyway.

Seriously?! The dice are not being friendly in this encounter... I hope this doesn't turn into a TPK. If we go down to a grindylow ambush, I'm going to need to spend a day covered in sackcloth and ashes.

Watching Culder go down causes Aghon to react quickly and violently. He casts soundburst centered on the two grindylows that are right next to Culder. Drew a red square on the map to indicate the 10' radius of the spell. DC 16 Fort save to not be stunned for one round, and they both take the following damage, regardless of the save. I think IC gives a +1 to magic damage too, doesn't it?

Aghon strafes right and fires his crossbow at the grindylow that Culder didn't just whiff with his oar.

Unfortunately, much like Culder, it appears that Aghon's groggy vision has prevented him from accurately aiming at the squiddy little bastard. "Damnit!" He mutters under his breath.

"Off we go!" Aghon says, making sure his crossbow is loaded and cranked, grabbing it to hand, and then following after the Cap'n.

Having said his prayers before bed and promptly falling into a most peaceful sleep, Aghon rolls awake in the morning and groggily says, I had the weirdest dream, Culder was Cap'n of his own ship, and we were all his crew, Sandara too. That wasn't really the weird part, though. In the dream Jordan was slinging around all manner of arcane magic, and singing! Weirdest thing about that was, he actually sang as good as Jarvis... in the dream anyway. Sitting up, Aghon ruffles through his pack checking his gear and looking for any rations he may have left in it.

Sweet, two minstrels in the group now. :) That archetype is very cool Jordan, I love that you get Precise Shot as a bonus feat with level two, and that selection of spells from the sorc/wiz list is great for a magical archer. Looks great! Looks like we just need to hear from Jarvis and we're ready to get things back up and running...

WOOT! Level 3. All fired up. Took Endurance as a feat, always been partial to not being fatigued after sleeping in medium armor, plus the +4 to a variety of con based saves never hurts. Got access to level two spells, took Fog Cloud for my Domain spell, Communal Water Walk (which is weird, because communal water walk is a level 2 spell, but water walk by itself is a level 3 spell...? What?!), and Sound Burst, a great offensive AoE that has the ability to stun targets, always been partial to that one too. Everything on the quick bar and character profile should be updated. Let me know if you find anything out of sorts Piratey Steve.

Aghon takes careful aim with his crossbow and whispers a prayer to Hanspur before firing at the nearest grindylow.

Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 1 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 - 2 + 1 = 18
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7

I added +1 for higher ground, then I took the -2 for the range penalty thinking they are definitely within 160'. If not, taking the additional -2 would put the final total at 16 instead of 18. Plan is to try and get them to come up the hill to attack us, giving us targets in a kill box. :D

Query. Are the grindylows within range increments of our ranged weapons? Meaning, could we take a couple pot shots at 'em? Maybe get them to try and climb up the hill to attack us?

As Vincent asks about keeping the ring, Aghon says, "Go ahead and keep it Vincent, serve you as well as anybody."
