Agate was born into a mining family operating beneath the Five Kings Mountains. With a good eye for stones but not the stamina for mining, she was apprenticed to a jeweler and spent many years in the trade, indulging her fascination with magic through research and correspondence with some learned in the art. On a trip into the Darklands in search of unusual stones, a chance sighting of an earth elemental led her to seek out a life of exploration with the Pathfinders.
