Aera (a common enough short name among the Aarakocra), had fairly humble beginnings as an artisan working in fine silver and in the craft of fine blades and arrows for the rangers and wardens of the Star Mounts of the High Forest. No one expected him to become the hero of the Fountain of Unicorns, least of all himself.
When nearby orc tribes began to move into the region and corrupt some of the natural aspects of the land, all of the aarakocra became worried. The wardens and rangers were hard pressed to remove them, though swift and sure strikes were made against many of the orc advances. One such advance, however, maneuvered around the aarakocra wardens.
With his skills as a weapon crafter, Aera crafted and armed several of the aarakocra with bows and led them, successfully against the orcs' invasion of the Fountain of the Unicorns. Since then, Aera has been hailed as a hero among the aarakocra of the Star Mounts.
It was after this decisive battle, that Aera was invited by the Speakers of Wind to serve the Wind Dukes of Aqaa, an invitation he felt a strong drawing towards. After several days of meditation, he agreed, and began his training in the Temple of Winds. This calling and his heroic deeds of the past drive him to greater services in the name of the Wind Dukes of Aqaa and the Aarakocra of the Star Mounts and elsewhere.
