wait, I thought we got 1,500 to spend to buy the letters with, of which we used 650 to pay for the letters, which leaves 850 from that pouch, plus the 500 gp should put the total up to 1,350 gp total... Maybe another wand for the group in Kessel's hands would be a good idea, but I could see not doing that as well -- we do have two paladins, one cleric, and a bard/druid in the group.

Kessel Cobey wrote: "The city guard isn't automatically loyal to the queen," Kessel retorts, "we're here to keep order. I'm not here to prop up a false or unrightful ruler." um wha? It seems like you are going the opposite of helpful Kessel... or did I just not read something right?

On their way out Bean smiles and nods to the various people he had met during the evening, exchanging small pleasantries with a few, and noting the location of the temple to one or two others. Smiling Bean answers Kessel humor in his voice, "Well, there's wrestling and then there is wrestling Kessel... and sometimes the two aren't that different. Some of the tactics that a good priest or priestess of Sune must use sometimes have more applications than simply in the bedroom... however I must confess that I too was a little surprised it worked as well as it did, but we'll simply thank Sune for watching out for us." Bean keeps an eye out too, while the had left the Spider in good spirits that didn't mean some simpleton wouldn't get the wrong idea and have a go at them... and who knows, maybe something else would come along to spread more of Sune's joy their way. 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

I wouldn't Kessel... probably would count as cheating... frack going to be hard betting that initiative! 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 Bean intends to go for the coin, as defensively as possible. If he's attacked he'll get one in his pouch and toss the rest off, if not he'll simply go for coin.

"I'll do it," Bean shrugs, handing his walking stick, circlet and a few other items to Kessel before whispering to him, "If the worse happens give the circlet to Ellen of Merchant House Tredu... Reg knows where to find her. The wand should go back to the temple in town, the rest I'm not worried about... just put it to good use."

"won't work Kessel... if you knock off a coin you lose. However I think a deal could be struck where losing is just as advantageous to us as winning." Bean continues quietly whispering only to Kessel, Spoiler: "IF say that halfling paladin was to do the combat... and lose it says something to the "power" and "acceptance" of the Spider in town... an air of legitimacy... the fact that the guard came and lost helps him. In exchange we get the information afterward as a "pity gift" which he "graciously" imparts on us. The problems are: Getting the halfling to accept it, Getting the spider to agree, and getting it done without everyone in the place knowing what's happening."

"I'm aware of the rules," Bean states simply, "Two men on the table, everyone anties up, then stands behind their man. They have one hand tied together with their opposite, and a dagger is put in the middle between them. They can either grab coins, or beat each other down. If someone dies his side loses, otherwise the one with the most coin in his pouch when either a coin gets knocked off, or there are no more coins on the table wins... it's Devargo's Favorite game actually."

Anything really. Make some friends, cure some ills, help a few folks, listen to a couple of sob stories, whatever comes his way. If he picks up useful information on any end of what the party is after super, if not he might come across information that is useful in other ways or possibly later. Basically just hitting the dirty and doing his 'job'. Bean is willingly to move away from the 'group' some but not so much to as to leave himself isolated... doesn't need to be mugged or anything. Basically obeying common sense. I specifically didn't roll on purpose... figured this is one of those rolls that is best left to the DM. I included the skills for the following reasons: Diplomacy ice breaking, stopping from ruffling feathers, Sense Motive to avoid being played for a fool or led into something dangerous, Profession for the variety of topics it would cover (good advice for young lovers, suggestions for a woman wanting to be a mother, common remedies for some maladies that are related to Sune's area of expertise, the general ability to listen well and get people to be comfortable). I felt any of those three could have an impact so I give the totals to make any check easier to do.

I guess Bean will "open shop" so to speak? This would be a good time for him to mingle and get out some, just showing off the fact that he's a priest of Sune should get him some good grace in these parts I would think. I have ranks in Diplomacy (+9), Profession(priest of sune) (+11) and (most importantly IMO) Sense Motive (+9).

Yeah all that happened, but Bean has also met people that care for children, risks their lives for others they have just met, care deeply about justice and the society they live in, self sacrifice for those who are in their care, work to improve themselves and others. This is in addition to those just trying to live a good life. The giving of free food wasn't a bad thing either... what that food was made of however was, but the people didn't know that and they were desperate too. Add to that the sheer number of people that are trying to fix things and Bean's views make a bit more sense. Beyond that what does he have to worry about dying for? Life is good, death in Sune's care will be better ;D

Always seem to be the last one in, I blame work!
"Honestly I'm still rather new in your city. I traveled here from Sembia to check on a bit of a diplomatic mission between my church of Sune, and the local followers of Sharess. It's a shame that your city is having such a hard time lately, it seems quite the nice place -- and I imagine would be even nicer in better times." Bean chats as he walks with the group, "I must say a very beautiful people live here if the examples I've met to date are to be believed. Reg and Keen have been very helpful during my time here, and Euphengia -- may she be blessed -- had a very noble heart and soul. I haven't known Ms. Ashram long, but I must say she is rather lovely looking herself, and seems to be a very pleasant person." Oh so true! Two paladins, and a sorcerer, not to mention the Dwarf who wasn't bad herself, and had a truly wonderful heart and spirit! We could name ourselves the "Beautiful people party".

Bean will give a good report on her too, and probably leave with a small kiss on the back of her hand as a sign of respect. He'll also thank the Red Knights for helping with the children they rescued again, and tell them of where he is staying in case they need his help in some fashion. honestly I think I'm good for now... I've worked up a bit of a list for things I would like in the future but most of that isn't much right now. Let's just split up the gold and sort it out when we come to a point that it matters... almost done with bean, got to get his spells memorized, and domain powers in. I believe the skill points and Hit points are correct, as is the BAB. I haven't touched his saves, and now that I've seen the final domains I believe something other than the Good domain might be in order... possibly charm or community if those are available and it is ok for me to trade Good out.

I'll hold off on my "claim" to any treasure for right now. It works better with everyone else using it, and I'm in good shape currently. If someone ends up with some cast off stuff let me know, I might pick up some scraps, but as of now nothing we've gotten really jumps for me yet. Btw I'm not worried about that currently. Typically early stuff tends to go more to the melee and non magical people in a group simply because they need good equipment to function whereas a magic user (of any stripe) can typically get by without it.

"So wait a minute. This guy thinks we started that little shindig this morning? You know, the one where the renegade guards almost killed me.. twice!?! Where they stirred up the crowd by shouting about banites then cut down Eugphenia?" Bean stares a minute, "Let's get Euphenia's body, and simply call in the captain. Let him sort this out, I'm sick of this lazy, irresponsible, reprehensible, useless guards."

just a quick question before I go -- Reg went before Van in the first round of combat, on a charge from what I understand. Van is flat footed, unarmed, and being charged. Charging prevents the AoO unless Van had readied an action, if I recall right you can't AoO while flat footed. I don't mind the unarmed part so much, as the weapon is close to hand and he could have the quick draw feat, however I'm not understanding the AoO. In the future would you prefer such questions be asked in OOC mode, or in the discussion thread (or not at all ;D).

I would indeed like to take that, it would fit nicely. Thank you for the info, I don't have access to that book. I'm a little slow on my updates I realize but I am still very interested in this game, and if I don't post it's because I don't have anything to add at that time. Welcome to the group Kessel. You have an interesting choice of classes there, I'll watch your career with great interest! (movie quote!)

Agreed. Not that I'm adverse to them getting their just due in addition to the above, I don't see throwing them to a crowd as a great idea (they could even escape).

See that hits on my non good, and especially on my non lawful radars. Giving them over to a crowd is not justice, especially without a trial. While Bean wouldn't mind seeing them get something like that, it does cause the worry about what the people will do after, and that another riot/mob may cause further problems/ get the banites involved again in subduing people. However stopping them from reproducing and removing their ability to enjoy the act of it doesn't necessarily hurt them in the long term, and doesn't cause a huge ruckus either. Subtle, and I don't think these types of 'men' would really be the ones to complain out loud that their functions don't work properly anymore either.

"Where are the rest of them?" Bean speaks to Reg and Keen looking around, "There were six earlier, we need to find them." He then turns to the little lady, "I'm a follower of Sune, we are looking for a friend that fell here earlier today, a dwarven lady, have you seen her?"

Perception 18 (1117) Bean looks around ready to move to aid his allies.

Can't find it now, maybe I got confused on the Paladin's stuff where she visits them at night in a vision or what not. Anyways it doesn't really matter, I haven't used many spells yet anyways, and I would prefer to go at night too. I'll get Reg and myself back up to full with my wand. (let me know how many charges it takes)... I'm down 10(?) currently from when Keen used it right?

I had been praying at dusk earlier in the thread, that's when the fluff says that Sune grants spells... I'm cool with it either way, just want to make sure we are all on the same page.
