2 posts. Alias of House_Arneste.

No, I am not House_Arneste, but an alias of his. Call me Asimo Oristoph, or GM Asimo. This, as the title of the thread suggests, is the recruitment thread for House_Arneste's Carrion Crown, or his take on it.

Here's the guidelines:

Character Creation
-1st Level, with max gold and hp
-All Paizo classes, no psionics or third party stuff
-All Core races, plus aasimars, tieflings, dhampirs, changelings, and skinwalkers will be accepted without needing convincing. As for the skinwalker race, I'll detail them momentarily
-Two traits, one of which must be a campaign trait. A third may be taken with a drawback
-No NE or CE alignments
-Please write up a backstory
-Use this bullet to exploit any details I missed

Skinwalkers
They are normally humans descended from lycans of various bloodlines, but the generic type stats are as follows:
-+2 Wis, -2 Int, +2 to physical ability score when "shape is changed"
-Medium sized
-30 ft speed
-Low-light vision
-Animal minded: +2 to handle animal and wild empathy checks
-Change Shape: gain one of three abilities while in beast form
--Darkvision 60 ft
--two 1d4 claw attacks
--+1 natural armor bonus
-Spell-like ability if Wis is 11 or higher: speak with animals once per day

Recruitment will last till the 26th, then the great debate will begin till the 29th, the latter of which is when I'll decide which player characters will be joining me on this venture.

Happy gaming all!

I'm probably going to regret posting this, but since I'm a glutton for punishment and I'm bored from waiting for my applications to various APs to be accepted/rejected, I'm going to put forward an interest check for me running Carrion Crown.

Now, before you either ignore this entirely/jump onto the bandwagon without looking/fall somewhere in between, there is a little twist as per mentioned in the title: I'm going to alter the adventure path "a bit".

What does this mean? I plan to use the published material of Carrion Crown for source material, but I plan to build-upon and add-to that so I can puesdo-claim a unique take on one of my favorite APs. This means I will not just plan to finish the entire -- albeit altered -- AP, but also go beyond to face even greater, Ustalav/horror-themed challenges with my players.

Why? Because I am still green to GM/DMing and I want to not only challenge myself, but help myself learn more through a crucible.

Alright, enough from me, who's interested/got suggestions/thinks this isn't a smart DM career move/etc?

Male Human? Infernal Sorcerer 20/Archmage 10

The sun has risen, but the Blot still remains.

Roll various Gather Info, Knowledge (arcana), Knowledge (local), and Knowledge (nature) to get info of the mysterious Blot!

By now the Blot is an everyday happenstance here in Riddleport, sometimes dimming the sun's light, other times casting a shadow on the night sky itself. It has long baffled both locals and visiting mages, but today the Blot is not the focus of attention.

No, today the gala known as the "Cheat the Devil and Take His Gold", held at the Golden Goblin casino, takes place tonight! As the sun rises, so does the enthusiasm of the hopefuls and the skepticism of others. Rumors abound and bets are already being wagered between friends as to who the winner will be.

@ Nessa:
Whenever you wake up, do your morning prayers and stuff to Calistria (or whatever it is you Calistrians do to get pretty in the mornings) you hear a knocking on your door...

"Nessa? Nessa, the High Priestess would like to see you!"

Feel free to make as much or little of this as you want.

@ Hal:
Whenever you go get your missions, the hawk you usually see somes flying in with a message that reads thus...

Hal'dorel, this mission is not like your usual ones. You must infiltrate the gaming hall known as the Golden Goblin tonight during the "Cheat the Devil and Take His Gold" event. Something important is about to happen, and you must be there to witness it. Good luck.

Like always, it isn't signed, but this one has been more cryptic than the rest. You may make of it what you will.

@ Others:
Feel free to introduce your characters to each other, NPCs in the city, hear rumors, go to the Goblin early to scope out the competition, etc.

Chat, fume, guess, plot, etc. Ya'll may discuss here the goings on of your experience in Second Darkness and make commentary on the ongoing story.

Hello fellow gamers! This is my first time GMimg on the Paizo forums, but I have plenty of experience roleplaying and storytelling. For a while now I've wanted to GM a PF-AP, and one I have been meaning to try is Second Darkness. With a dedicated group, I hope to tell a story that won't end in fire.

Character Creation
-1st level w/ max starting gold for your class
-All official Paizo classes are allowed...
--...but not third party or psionic classes
-For races all core races are allowed, along with tieflings, without question. Drow/thinbloods/anything from the Darklands are forbidden. Any other race is an option if you can make it work.
-Two traits off the bat, with a third allowed should you also take a drawback
-Only CE is not allowed when deciding alignments, but if you play a NE char, play him/her smart. I love a "good" LE character, so they're always an option in my stories.
-Any Paizo material is allowed for equipment/traits/feats/etc
-A good character is made from a good backstory. A few paragraphs should cover the basics of your character, but the more the better!
-An idea of where you plan to take your character would be helpful too, especially for alchemists/wizards/prestige classes.
-The Second Darkness Player's Guide is free on Paizo.com, so I'd recommend downloading that when building characters.

How I usually GM
-I don't like maps, but if necessary I can paint one up for reference's sake.
-I'm pretty lax about carrying capacity, so unless you're carrying a handy-haversack of bricks I won't worry about it too much.
-I love good RP, so if your character has key persons in their backstory/wants to wander the area for conversations/etc, I will try and make it work towards telling a great story.
-I'm not going to be pushy about posting everyday. I have a job in RL and I understand if RL might get in the way. A post once a day is all I can ask.
-I don't like huge parties, so five and maybe six PCs is my cap.

I am hoping for at least some interest. Deadline for char concepts is Dec 13, finished products Dec 20.

Hey fellow gamers! Got a few questions I'd like some opinions on 'bout a PC I'm running next year.

My character, a tiefling magus from Westcrown, Cheliax, is a lawful evil PC that came north to the Worldwound, having been thrown out by his human stepbrother.

1) What "good" reason would a LE PC be doing in the Worldwound? I understand that Cheliax and her Hellish allies hate the Abyss and its demons, but is that enough of a reason for my PC to go up that way? I have a planned reason he left in the first place, but I'd like some opinions.

2) How much is too much? I plan on his appearance to have red skin, yellow eyes, a tail, and feet with hoof-like toes, but would horns and sharp teeth be overkill? If not...

3) Why would he work with the rest of the party? The rest of them are not Chelish, and a lot of them are aligned on the chaotic axis. Any ideas on how to give a lawful (and evil ) PC a "good" reason to work with this party?

4) Would a champion mythic path work for a magus, or would the archmage be better? Magi are complicated like that...

I understand that most of this may seem elementary to a lot of gamers, but I am new to this and would appreciate feedback. Thanks!
