Backstory:
Born and raised in Sandpoint, Aballas was always a fair amount of an outcast among his peers, due in no small part to his nature as an albino, with pale white skin, hair, and pink eyes. This naturally resulted on other kids his age picking on him because of his appearance, and his lack of physical strength only aided to the bullying. Still, he refused to give up, and instead focused on his mind, using that to shore up his physical shortcomings. He taught himself to rely on his mind, to empty himself of emotions and instead look at the facts of the situation, and developed a method of defense that relied on knowledge of exploiting weaknesses instead of overpowering strength. When he started learning magic, he found the same principle applied there, and excelled in countering and dispelling the magic of others. He had hoped that learning arcane powers would dissuade his bullies, but they kept pestering him nonetheless. As he grew, he watched as Aergoreth defended the town of Sandpoint time and time again, and, marveling at the paladin's resolve, tried to befriend the warrior, only to be continually shoved aside by the other children trying to do the same. Eventually, he slunk off from home to be part of the Battle of Xin Shalast, where he proved his mettle by protecting the fighters in his batallion, even some of his own childhood bullies, from incoming fire and magical wrath.

In the formation of the new empire, Aergoreth recognized the mettle and devotion of Aballas, and hardly one to judge based on appearance, appointed the albino to his lieutenancy, sending him to Absalom to become a god. While, perhaps understandably, feeling slightly out of his depth, he did what he always did, casting aside his emotion and entering the cathedral.

He never speaks of what happened within. He's not entirely sure he understands what happened. But if he were to try and describe it, it would that he entered a void. As someone who was always uncomfortable with light growing up, it was something of a relief, to be immersed in darkness. No… not darkness. He could still see himself. Just… black. Forced into his own mind for what seemed like an eternity, staring into the void, until the void stared into him. And they blinked as one.

He emerged sometime later, changed. His skin was the same, paper white as before, but it no longer burned in the sunlight. His hair changed from snow-white to completely black, and his eyes became solid black. He returned to Xin-Shalast and once again, presented himself to Aergoreth, now with unwavering devotion, and an unstoppable finality to his actions. Since then, Aballas has served with an almost preternatural strength, a steadfast protector that refuses to let his charges come to the smallest of harm, and turning any would-be assailants into helpless, cowering targets. Still, he always offers mercy, never being too quick to judge and preferring to respond to the first strike than make it.

Code of the Black:
• I am impartial, but just. I strike where I am needed, but only when evil has been unmasked and there can be no doubt of my enemy’s malice.
• Nothing is worth sacrificing my life for, except protecting the lives of others. I will retreat when needed, and come back to vex my foes once again.
• Mercy is offered, but only once. Should I be betrayed in my moment of kindness, I will not stop until I have put my enemy down.
• I will uphold myself in a manner that will not distract those around me.
• It is not enough to slay evil and carry on. I will spend the time necessary to help those I’ve protected to fend for themselves.
• Those who enslave and warp the minds of others, through magic or mundane means, are the worst of evil. Unto them, there is no punishment too severe.
• I will judge others on their actions alone. Their past, family, appearance, and acquaintances shall not cloud my perception of them.
