The updated "Additional Resources" still has the elemental outsider races listed boon only?

This looks like a great book, I look forward to going though it.

Doesn't look like I will be making marathon this year.

I'm mostly seeing the same two dozen over and over again, don't know why I'm stuck with them.

I usually only see a few of the ones that make to top32. And my personal almost never make the list. I will be very surprised by the top 32 this year again.

I have not had characters craft in my games (I run mostly one shot games if I play at all). But if I had a campaign and someone said they wanted to craft an item greater than minor, I would add some of this to the game. "You need this exotic ingredient." And then I would make sure they had opportunity to find it with some interesting difficulty. Totally role play it.

We have rules for that.

I don't know this item, but that can be ok sometimes. There are a couple in the PSRD that do this. Check out the Phylacteries of Channeling. I have an item that I did not submit that only requires the creator have two specific witch hexes.

To see filigree on items these days means either the designer never checked out the past advice/critique threads, or else was gutsy enough to put out an item that was guaranteed to get a bit of heckling from the peanut gallery.

yeah, it's just disappointing (and again, i didn't go the filigree route myself) that a valid descriptive word results in downvotes independent of the quality of the submission, all because it's become an "inside joke" for the votingest voters in voteworld. yet those same folks believe they are voting for the best items. :/

Who said they're being downvoted for the word "filigree?" I certainly didn't. I just snark about it because after you read some words time and time again, over and over, they cease to have any meaning. Just because a person snarks about an item, it doesn't follow that they're never voting for the item. I, and most voters, I'd like to think, vote for the better of each pair, whether or not they have to groan over an overused word or turn of phrase, such as "this item is prized by...".

Also, I don't believe I'm voting for the best items. Hopefully no one believes that. What you should be confident in is that you're voting for the best item out of a pair. Every time. That's what makes the system work. Sometimes I may be voting between two of the worst items in the contest, but the better of the two always gets the vote, whether or not it has filigree on it.

I'm up voting many of the items I snark on.

it is now at this point where I think any comment in this thread or the praise thread that even has a chance of applying to my item, has to be about my item. Not exactly great for the mentality.

If your item is a strict improvement to an existing weapon property, it shouldn't be cheaper.

Just a reminder, some of the obvious IP infringement are of IP that are unoriginal to start with, so it may not be thief.

Every time you come up, I try to figure out why you picked that spell for construction. Another similar spell is a much better fit both mechanically and thematically, so I find myself wondering why you didn't go with the obvious choice.

It's a small thing that I shouldn't be concerned about...and I'm upvoting you anyway, but it will drive me nuts again next time I see you.

Oh you well written and clever joke item that actually works vs the other one that shares none of those qualities. This is why you still any probable will remain in the game despite being a joke.

I think there is a creative writing group that said, hey we have this competition you all need to write something for, and this is our theme this year "Booze".

On a side note, looking at #3 prompts me to mention something that I've wondered about for quite some time. I readily admit that I may be missing something, but it seems to me that the rationale behind this sentence:

"For items that take up a space on a character's body, each additional power not only has no discount but instead has a 50% increase in price."

is in opposition to the "No space limitation" entry in the table on this page. The footnote for that entry reads:

"An item that does not take up one of the spaces on a body costs double."

The first sentence above indicates an increase in price for slotted items, while the second sentence indicates an increase in price for slotless items. As a...

If you have two powers on a slotted item its like having two items slotted in that spot, so the extra cost. not as much as an unslotted item.

Its use activated, you are spending an action to activate/ continue an effect, so I would look at the guidelines for pricing and the price tables, especially the footnotes where such conditions of use are to be found.

If I had found the guidelines useful I would not be asking. As I see it you get no price break by having a action to use ever turn than having work continuously with no action need. Let me clarify, I'm looking for opinions on how requiring a move action may change the cost over continuous.

So, it has come to the point when I have to look at pricing to determine who to vote for!

As usual, the 3 most overlooked considerations that affect cost:

1) Use-activated or Continuous: If a continuous item has an effect based on a spell with a duration measured in rounds, multiply the cost by 4. If the duration of the spell is 1 minute/level, multiply the cost by 2, and if the duration is 10 minutes/level, multiply the cost by 1.5. If the spell has a 24-hour duration or greater, divide the cost in half.

My question? I was working on a item, I wanted it to have a move action to maintain its effect everturn. You had no limit on uses but it wasn't continuuos, How would you have prized it?

As crazy as this competition is it seem to be a better way to get a good adventure than TSR had hack in the day. This is a good read, especially if you remember 1st ed.

Themes I can't get away from: storms, ghosts, bypassing most or all DR, multi-element rainbow BS, bugs, weird forms of vision, things that break apart and reassemble/regrow, RUNES INSCRIBED ALONG THE BLAH BLAH SOFTLY GLOW SHUT UP, trivializing aquatic encounters, 'summons X as a swift action', and more.
