Synesthesia is basically any sense which does not normally respond to certain stimuli responding in place of the appropriate sense.

Yes, and it is very disorienting. For instance, when I get migraines I see sound. That's usually the curl up in a dark quiet room until this stops point.
That sounds like it could be interesting, except for intense pain. :S

Yeah, I think the pain part really ruins it. It does look kinda cool, but I can't see where I'm going cause of all the bursts and streaks of color. Like fireworks but annoying. :)

Wow, that is most excellent! Congrats! (time to go rub it in the co workers faces right?;D)
More likely I'll casually mention I get to explore Europe the next few years while doing my PHD and make them incredibly jealous.
What is your Doctorate going to be in?

Doomsday machines and megalomaniacal speeches?

I don't know, little things and things that are wide open don't sound like a very satisfying combination.

Congrats Jeremy. Don't spend it all at once.

Still, if he's leaving himself wide open for his little things, that's impressive.

Hmm. So many great Ravenloft ideas left on the cutting room floor. Feel free to read, even if you're in my PbP...

Spoiler:
The PC's come upon a dreary village just after nightfall. The peasants they meet on the outskirts of the village all seem to be on edge, like they are frightened of something. As the PC's investigate further, they arrive in the town square, where a crowd has gathered around a heated altercation.

In the middle, two men argue with a young woman between them. One of the men is pale, with mysterious good looks and carelessly tousled hair. His fangs mark him as a creature of the night. The other young man is shirtless, showing off his remarkable physique, but his eyes have a wild, wolfish quality.

"Edward, Jacob, stop this arguing at once," the whiny tart in between them cries.

Suddenly, a hush falls over the crowd. From the far side of the square, a figure clad head to toe in armor as black as obsidian lumbers through the crowd, gauntlets tightly gripping his greatsword. Without a word, he cuts down the three young people with ease, his blackened blade arcing with supernatural grace.

Lord Soth has spoken.

I don't know if it has the right feel for Ravenloft...

It's always nice to get happy news!

Unfortunately, I am still minding my ps and qs with respect to posting from work, so I will not be keeping up with the posts I missed. I just hope I didn't miss anything earthshaking. My day is not going particularly well, and though I have not completely extinguished hope, i am not betting on a reversal of fortune in the near future. I'll do my best to keep the faith, however.

Does this mean you're weak and theoretically defenseless against a zombie horde attack?

So I finally got around to watching the entire Star Wars original Trilogy. Totally underwhelmed. Poor story and horrible script, ok effects for the time, and I`m totally mystified as to why it was so popular. I guess I`m just not a good geek.

Perhaps it's the age when you first watch it. I was 10 years old (ok 10 and a half) when I first saw it in the theater. It was the first PG movie I had ever seen and I thought it was the greatest movie ever made.

Edit: and belated congratulations on the acceptance!

And I don`t like Star Trek either :P I think William Shatner couldn`t act his way out of a paper bag.

I agree. But his poor acting has a certain amusement value that I find entertaining. :)

ST:TNG was pretty good. I loved DS9. I drove my parents nuts cause the stupid local station only played it at one in the morning on Sunday and the sound of the tv on in the living room always woke them up. :)

DS9 was my favorite Trek series. Avery Brooks continued the proud tradition of hammy Trek Captains. :)

(Yes, I think Shakespearean-trained Patrick Stewart hammed it up, but he was clearly having fun)

The Eldritch Mr. Shiny has laid down the smackdown to Sebastian. How are you going to respond, oh emo pony boi? ~wicked, toothy smile~

~looks at my stack of anime that I had bought a month or so ago~ I had forgotten that I bought these. ~wicked smile~ The price ought to turn Freehold DM green with envy. Under $35 for these four titles.

Gilgamesh - the Complete Collection

Zaion: I wish you were here

Maburaho - the Complete Collection

Jing King of Bandits: Seventh Heaven

Now I just have to eventually pick up Jing King of Bandits - The Complete Collection.

Happy to oblige!

Actually, it came to me while I was walking around my office building. I was thinking about my Ravenloft campaign and walked by a cubicle where somebody had hung a Twilight calendar. It struck me as odd that I was thinking about lycanthropes and there was a picture of Jacob. The rest just followed naturally :)
