Some of us don't really care about Starfinder, though. I feel like if they don't have the resources to manage the first game effectively and efficiently then they shouldn't be splitting their limited resources for a second game. Is this an indication of what things are going to be like long-term because of the added workload of a second game? That's disconcerting.

^ The answer to that is implied above. GenCon is next week. They are launching a ton of new content.
Additional Resources will come in time, but it will come after the two new guides for PFS and SFS launch, along with everything else.
Meanwhile... Starfinder is coming! Woooooo!
Hmm
But they said about a month ago that they had an AR ready, then we've been told it should be out before gencon. So saying that we should assume it won't be out till after gencon because of gencon is off.
And if you're using the excuse that they are launching a ton of new content (aka starfinder) and it's cutting into PFS basic processes like updating the AR then they are failing in the exact way we said they'd fail by adding starfinder and not adding more new people or an entire new team.
I'd rather starfinder not come soon if it's going to cause such issues to do so.

The party line response to the additional resource update has become very tired... Starfinder was introduced with "will not impact Pathfinder Society" If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and swims like a duck...
Then it's obviously a... CHICKEN on Halloween!

Is it me, or does the art for the reptile (can't remember race yet) look like one person drew him and another did the tech afterwards.
IIRC, most of the Pathfinder Iconics are done that way.
The base character art is drawn, and then Bandoliers, Belts, Buckles, Sheathes and Backup Weapons are sort of just "pasted on".
Makes cosplay rather difficult, I've heard, since a lot of the outfits couldn't exist in real life.

Please, please, please give us some insight on when the additional resources for PFS will be updates, and why it is taking so long. I swear that most of us will be understanding. This silence is allowing all sorts of rumors to grow.
We sent up an Additional Resources and Campaign Clarifications update and that's expected to go live in the next several days.

I'm sure the entire Paizo staff is working 80 hours per week preparing for Gen Con. This has nothing to do with Starfinder. They go through this every year, and there are always people who complain that Paizo isn't as responsive during that time period.
Remember, they already release twice as many PFS scenarios every year at Gen Con than they normally release in an average month, plus an updated guide to organized play. And one of those new scenarios is a multi-table special with 6 subtiers. Other parts of the company are always busy with the new hardback book release at Gen Con, and various other releases and tasks that are unique to Gen Con every year (daily pins for the booth!). And that's before all the travel planning, both for the staff and for equipment and merchandise.
Given how much goes into an event this big, you can hardly blame them for being a little slow on the every day stuff during that period. They do an amazing job getting so much done and pulling off an awesome convention presence every year. If we have to wait a few extra weeks for an AR update, I'm ok with that.

Having played, written, and helped organize in a different organized campaign, what is seen at the convention and in things like AR is only a tiny fraction of the work that is involved to getting to that point.
*has flashbacks of frantic writing the Tuesday night before GenCon because someone failed to finish a given module...*

There you go! Now you can put the finishing touches on the guides and hand them over to Chris to get added to the website as well.
Thanks for the hard worker you and everyone else is putting in we, the unwashed masses, can play a game.

I am concerned about something that has not yet been addressed so far as I can see. Will the plain touched races be removed from society? I love those races I hope they will be allowed to stay.
I believe Tanya confirmed at Paizocon that none of the legal races are changing for season 9. So plane-touched races will still be legal. Someone correct me if I'm wrong about that.

John,
Thank you for the update and the hard work you and the rest of the Organized Play team have done to get this next update to Additional Resources and Campaign Clarifications out to the masses. I must not forget the scenarios, specials, and other material to kick off what I believe will be great Seasons for all parts of Organized Play!!
Good luck to all those preparing for GenCon as I am sure it will be the best one yet!!

So, as a first time Society GM, looking to start up society play for my home game of Starfinder, with a bunch of first time Society players, which adventure should we run first, Claim to Salvation, or Into the Unknown?
Salvation has pre-constructed characters letting players dive in without having to go through character creation first, and try out the classes before committing to one.
Unknown seems to be better geared for actually learning how to play though.

Is it just me or does that golem remind people of a Glitterboy/Chromium Guardsman? I am very much enjoying the aesthetic of the Starfinder art. There is a lot I like about the sci fantasy setting here, but I'm still waiting a bit before jumping in.

That does look closer. The helmet mostly so which is what made me think of the Glitterboy.

I normally have someone with me and so I am starting to get super nervous about Gencon. This will be first time ever for me doing something like this solo and Starfinder is main reason glad I am going. I did not get any of the slots for Claim to Salavation though had hoped I would. I did get the three scenarios after that though. I am super eager to play though.

Into the Unknown also allows 1st-level pregens, so it could be your best introduction.
I oversaw 3 playtests of Into the Unknown while writing it; every player used a pregen, and for every player it was their introduction to Starfinder rules.

Ron, I have to say that I really enjoyed running this Quest at GenCon and After. It is very well written and a lot of fun for both GMs and Players!
Thank you!

I've played the Quests once and I'm running them in a PBP right now. Conversely, I've run Claim to Salvation once and I'm currently playing in a PBP of it. I think both are fine intros, but if I had to pick one for new players I'd go with the Quests, just because they use 1st level characters, so there are less moving parts to worry about.
