Help us Win the Gauntlet Infinity!

Thursday, May 4, 2017

When last we left our heroes, they were locked in a fight with a cunning and powerful warlord from the depths of space who had claimed the all-powerful Gauntlet: Infinity and was planning to use it to rule the universe! Can our heroes triumph to reclaim the gauntlet? Will they survive the daylong battle, subsisting only on snacks and caffeine? Will you help them achieve victory?

Every year, Paizo puts together a team to do battle with others from the greater game community around Seattle for a board game tournament at the Mox Boarding House. This year's Gauntlet: Infinity tournament is set to go down on May 21!

To the victor goes the Gauntlet, and actual metal trophy. We've had the honor of wearing it in the past, and this is our chance to take it back! You can help by donating to our team. Every donation goes toward earning us a number of "power-ups" or special advantages that help us during the games. Better still, all of your donations go to support Treehouse, a local charity organization dedicated to helping foster kids graduate high school!

Let me introduce you to this year's Paizo team:

Katina Davis

"The Pink PUNisher"

Katina Davis grew up nerdy in the Northwest. She has been a Customer Service Representative at Paizo for 3 years now, and enjoys torturing her coworkers with puns. When she's not doing that, you'll find her hiking, reading, writing, drawing, practicing foreign languages, belting out showtunes in her car, or playing video games. You can support the Pink PUNisher here!

Jason Keeley

"The Puzzler"

Jason Keeley is an editor and developer at Paizo, changing hats as the needs arise. He is excited to have been on the team that worked on the Starfinder Core Rulebook, and is currently knee-deep in creatures from other worlds for the upcoming Alien Archive. Jason lives in Redmond with his wife, Paula, and their adorable dog, Bigby. You can support The Puzzler here!

Sharaya Copas

"The Azure Avenger"

Sharaya Copas is a Midwest transplant trying to build a life in the Pacific Northwest. She has been a Customer Service Representative at Paizo for over 3 years now. Her hobbies and interests include playing board and card games, painting miniatures, playing Fallout, reading, DIY projects, and hiking. You can support the Azure Avenger here!

Jason Bulmahn

"The Mighty Minotaur"

Jason Bulmahn has been with Paizo for over 12 years, crafting the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game from within his cunning maze, filled with monsters and deadly traps. He frequently gets lost in it though and spends far too much time playing just about anything with the word game in the title. You can support the Mighty Minotaur here!

These amazing heroes need your help! Go to the Paizo Gauntlet page, select your favorite hero and donate today!

Free Gauntlet Adventure

As a thank you for your support (now and in the past), we are releasing a FREE 16-page Pathfinder adventure, The Gauntlet! Your heroes have been selected to take the Pathfinder Society's most dangerous test to see if you have what it takes to be a awarded some of their most secretive missions! Can your characters survive The Gauntlet!

It absolutely is! Team Paizo won the Gauntlet the first year Card Kingdom held the competition. The winner keeps it for a year, then relinquishes the Gauntlet when the tournament begins. There are some great photos floating around with Jason and the rest of the team celebrating around Ballard with the Gauntlet. :D

Why is Jason Keeley not listed as part of the Paizo team on their site?

I *think* there's a button to be clicked, or slide to be slidden, or a setting to be setted. His account is there, it's just not connected to the team page yet. Soon!!

In an unlikely turn of events, it happens I'm going to be in Seattle on that day. Is the event open to the public?

Mox Boarding House is essentially a store/restaurant, and I know that they will be doing an in-store donation drive on the day of the tournament. I believe there are also plans to have photo opportunities with a local cosplay group, as well as raffles and some other activities.

The room the actual gaming takes place in is a little bit off-set from the main store, so you won't be able to go in and chat while teams are playing, but there is time to mingle in between games. There is supposed to be a 'spectator lounge' where friends and family can watch the live stream if they'd like.

So TL;DR - yes!

Cool. Thanks, Katina. :)

Best of luck to our fantastic foursome (Azure Avenger, Mighty Minotaur, Pink PUNisher, and Puzzler) in their quest for the Gauntlet: Infinity! :)

PS Good to have some free Gauntlet adventure stuff out there. ;)
