leverage point attempt
Vorcan produces a contraption that looks like a pelican's beak with a half-moon serrated edge on one side, and a flat-bladed hook twisting off a center fulcrum point. It's the device she made in Dr. Magnus's temporary clinic earlier. She thinks about the various torture methods she has heard about, as well as the terrible miracles she's seen her friend Dr. Magnus perform over the course of his medical career.
She compresses the weird apparatus, producing an eerie click.
Ah, so we should review the tooth extraction once more before proceeding. I believe understand the method now. First, a corkscrew vise is introduced into the subject’s mouth, which is persuaded open with a few twists. We must be careful not to break their jaw by twisting one too many times.
Next, we can use this clever device. The iron claw is set against the outer edge of the offending tooth, along the gum. The opposite end, the serrated crescent or "pelican's beak" is fixed against the roof of the mouth, providing a counterpoint that will not slip thanks to its many sharp little teeth digging into the tender flesh of the mouth's roof. It may cause some discomfort.
The center fulcrum can then be hammered down, tearing the tooth out from the side. Of course, it may take a few vigorous attempts.
It seems to me this device may split or shatter the tooth, but then again we have an array of needle-nose pliers and chisels in the kit for such excavations.
She turns to Helvetilia-Ordulf. Before we take care of your toothache, sir, I think it best we practice some extractions first. Get it right. We may need to find volunteers… she gives the patrol a meaningful look. We Gorumites certainly relish a little pain, no?

The team heads upstairs with confidence, though they're traveling blindly into a room. Thankfully there's a bit of respite. These barracks are simple. With three beds, three footlockers, and a single latrine, they’re sparse by most accounts. Fur covers the beds and floor. Better yet, there's no one here. Map updated. We're on Slide 1.

An immense perch created from two-foot-thick logs sits in the middle of this open chamber. To the south, the wall opens out onto the fortress’s uppermost balcony, giving an expansive view of the tundra and skies. A prodigious pile of bird droppings lies on the ground below the perch, in which the bones of woolly rhinos, elk, and a few humans protrude. An alarm bell hangs from the wall to the southwest near the opening onto the balcony.
There are not one, but TWO Frost Rocs here. They do not seem to notice you.
