Hello! Welcome to my table. Before we start, please do the following:
Please complete the macros linked at the top of the page. This will be used for initiative and secret rolls.
Please also post your token to the slides and post your position in the marching order. The slides are also linked at the top of the page.
As per the Organized Play Foundation Community Standards, each player must decide if they will allow their characters to be damaged by friendly fire (usually via splash damage). In keeping with the “Explore, Report, Cooperate” motto of the Pathfinder Society, engaging in non-consensual character-versus-character conflict is prohibited. While accidental friendly fire happens due to missed attack rolls or other factors, players must obtain the consent of other players before deliberately including fellow PCs in damaging effects. This rule does not apply in situations where a character is not acting of their own free will, such as if they’re being mind-controlled by an NPC and forced to attack a fellow Pathfinder.
This applies to Scenarios only
You may select a consumable item from the Pathfinder Provisions list. These used to be the school items you get prior to starting an adventure. Quests and bounties do not receive provisions.

HIGH TIER LEVEL BUMPS
To provide low level players a more fun and fair experience, PCs whose level equals the adventure’s base level (such as a 3rd-level PC playing in a Level 3–6 scenario) gain a temporary boost when playing in the higher level range called a level bump to represent the higher-level PCs’ mentorship and support.
Increase every DC the PC has by 1.
Increase the attack modifiers, attack damage, spell damage, saving throw modifiers, skill modifiers, Perception modifiers, and AC of the PC by 1.
Increase the Hit Point totals of the PC by 10 or by 10%, whichever is higher.
These adjustments are less beneficial than gaining a level, yet they provide the PC more survivability and opportunity to contribute to the adventure experience, reducing the degree to which higher-level PCs might overshadow these less experienced Pathfinders.
You should also remind higher level PCs to apply any mentor boons they might have purchased.
Apply the relevant adjustments to the PC's animal companions, eidolons, and familiars as well. If a value is already increased by applying the adjustment to a PC (such as a familiar's save modifiers and AC), do not increase the value a second time.

Captain Kortos hopes that the rest of you are bringing Mentor boons!
GM, would you allow me to post some pre-game roleplay as we're walking through the shipyard towards our mission briefing?

go for it! :)
I'm just not allowed to post any scenario text...

Okay, I've decided to bring my level 3 Contemplative Sorcerer. Haven't built their PBP profile yet, but I'll get on it.
They have a Rugged Mentor boon to help keep the Undine Centaur... uhhh... seahorse(?) ... alive :)

I have completed Slides, Macros and RPG Chronicles. If it turns out that I need mentor boons once everyone else joins the group, I'll edit the macros accordingly.

FWIW, Third is still level 2, but I intend to play them at a con this weekend. I'll update and post a profile afterwards, as well as all the housekeeping. Still gotta find some art. Why doesn't Paizo release more of all the great art they have here in the forums as avatars? There's so many ancestries with no representation at all, including contemplatives.

My personal theory is they don’t have anyone still there who understands that portion of the code.

I remember Mike Hallet telling me that Paizo's current site is made with tech that Apple abandoned 10+ years ago. At this point it's barely surviving as a "community supported product". So basically the thing is the web version of the Mir space station, held together with baling wire and duct tape!

Now that the game is full, let's talk Commander Stuff. I come pre-equipped with five tactics, but only three that I can prepare on any given day. Here's my normal load out:
____________________
TACTICS:
____________________
Prepared:
Gather to Me! ◈ [one-action]
Mobility
Commander Tactic
Source Battlecry! pg. 25
You signal your team to move into position together. Signal all squadmates; each can immediately Stride as a reaction, though each must end their movement inside your banner’s aura, or as close to your banner’s aura as their movement Speed allows.
Squadmates can use Gather to Me! while Burrowing, Climbing, Flying, or Swimming instead of Striding if they have the corresponding movement type.
Pincer Attack ◈ [one-action]
Offensive
Commander Tactic
Source Battlecry! pg. 26
You call for an aggressive formation designed for exploiting enemies’ vulnerabilities. Signal all squadmates; each can Step as a reaction. If any of your allies ends this movement adjacent to an opponent, that opponent is off-guard to melee attacks from you and all other squadmates who responded to Pincer Attack until the start of your next turn.
Strike Hard! ◈◈ [two-actions]
Offensive
Brandish Commander Tactic
Source Battlecry! pg. 26
You command an ally to attack. Signal a squadmate within the aura of your commander’s banner. That ally immediately attempts a Strike as a reaction.
In Portfolio
Mountaineering Training ◈[one-action]
Mobility
Commander Tactic
Source Battlecry! pg. 25
Your instructions make it easier for you and your allies to scale dangerous surfaces. Signal all squadmates; until the end of your next turn, you and each ally gain a climb Speed of 20 feet.
Special If you have this tactic prepared, you can use Warfare Lore in place of Athletics for checks you make to Climb.
Naval Training ◈ [one-action]
Mobility
Commander Tactic
Source Battlecry! pg. 25
Your instructions make it easier for you and your allies to swim through dangerous waters. Signal all squadmates; until the end of your next turn, you and each ally gain a swim Speed of 20 feet.
Special If you have this tactic prepared, you can use Warfare Lore in place of Athletics for checks you make to Swim.
Captain Kortos

Now, we're in a Shipyard, and Captain Kortos can see the tall ships from here. So she's going to bring her Naval Training, and possibly her Mountaineering training if she thinks we're going to be doing any climbing.
Which tactics would you like to see prepared? If we're going to be doing Gather to Me, I usually run that in the first round of combat in order to help everyone get positioned.
So... How do we handle that in PBP without slowing things way down?
I think that the best way (if you beat me in initiative) is to have a spoilered movement on your character saying where you would go if I say "Gather to Me". And if you go after me, just add the extra movement with a reaction tag ↺.
Do I have to follow your tactics?
Nope. You can choose to follow them or not as you please.
But... I have an awesome reaction. I don't wanna use your tactics if I have to lose my reaction!
Fear not, Fighters and Champions. If you have a worthy reaction, let me know. I have drilled reactions.
Drilled Reactions
Your time spent training your allies allows them to respond quickly and instinctively to your commands. Once per round when you use a tactic, you can grant one ally of your choice benefiting from that tactic an extra reaction. This reaction has to be used for that tactic and is lost if not used.
I've not played with a Commander before. Is there anything else I should know?
I have a cool banner. As long as your banner is visible and in my possession, it provides an aura that gives me and all allies in a 30-foot emanation a +1 status bonus to Will saves and DCs against fear effects.
Chipped Tooth
|
There are a few things that complicate this for my character.
Chip is Tiny, so they can only strike creatures in the same square as them. The only thing they could strike with as a reaction is their tail. Chip can’t provide flanking.
Chip is a kineticist which means they generally don’t have a weapon at the ready. My understanding is weapon infusions just look like weapons for the instant that they are used, they don’t persist for use in reactions. When I use them, I typically include Reach as a trait for the Weapon Infusion.
Chip has a climb speed, so Mountaineering Training doesn’t appear to help them.
Gather To Me! And Pincher Attack are good for him. The usefulness of Naval Training all depends on if he goes into the water. Strike Hard should definitely be reserved for use with others — Ebren is a Laughing Shadow Magus so they should benefit from it. There is also supposed to be a Ranger showing up, they might benefit as well.
I would say definitely prepare Gather To Me! And Strike Hard. Gather To Me allows for more movement which is why I am suggesting that over Pincher Attack.
The last tactic is going to depend on the group. I think we need people to either introduce themselves in a way that indicates what their capabilities are or have profiles filled in.
We are allowed to do daily prep after the mission briefing.
Ebren Windbrook

Probably not the most exotic ancestry, but a duskwalker fetchling probably isn't very common (and may get some sideways glances walking around).
Captain Kortos
|
Let's face it: we're not exactly a group who blends in the normal city crowd.
★ ---- ★ ---- ★ ---- ★
Okay, so now that we know the levels of most of the group, it is clear that we're playing up. I'm going to be a support commander. What Mentor boons are you bringing? I'm especially interested in an Envoy's Alliance Mentor Boon so that I can make full use of my skills, but I would love to hear what you all have so that I can alter my Macros for Tiger before the game.
Ebren Windbrook
|
While working with less experienced Pathfinder allies, you provide important insights that keep your less experienced colleagues safe from harm. For any PCs benefiting from a Level Bump and whose levels are lower than yours, you increase the
Level Bump’s modifier to saving throws to 2.
Normal: A Level Bump increases a PC’s saving throw modifiers by 1.
Special: A PC can only benefit from two mentor boons.
Ebren's provision will be a lesser healing potion
Thandar's Third Theorem
|
Gather To Me is [Traversal] (although I guess that trait is only an SF trait, the tactic text has the same wording) so Third can benefit from that one. Hopefully they don't end up in the water, since they can fly, but I suppose it's possible and then Naval Training will certainly help their untrained and -1 STR Athletics. Sorcerers don't benefit from any of the other tactics but that's okay.
I did get to play Third (and also finally got to play my Commander character) at a con this weekend, so they're level 3, and I'll get the profile updated later today or tomorrow after the con ends. (DragonFlight in Seattle/Bellevue for those curious.)
We currently don't have anyone that can cast from a heal scroll, pending check in from the ranger and a character decision by Halgur. No worries, just a point of note. Third will take a dispel magic scroll as provisions.
Lastly, as previously mentioned, I can offer a Rugged Mentor, same as Ebren.
Chipped Tooth
|
For healing, Chip has the nuts that can heal d4+1 HP and gives Resist Void 2. You can only benefit from this once every 10 minutes, but he can give them out.
Eat them right away!
Provisions:
I am trying to decide between a Climbing Bolt and an Oak Potion, leaning towards the potion.
Does someone want the climbing bolt since Chip doesn’t carry a crossbow? His only weapon is a dagger. There is also the question of if anyone could use the rope from a bolt sized for Chip.
Thandar's Third Theorem
|
Profile updated with purchases from their 2 missions at the con. Got a pearly white aeon stone (slotted) and a wand of mystic armor.
Macro sheet filled in and token on the slides. I'll just use the avatar art from the forum as I haven't put the time into getting some real art done.
Ready to go!

The PBP Gameday starts in approximately 24 hours, so I would like to nail down the tactics that Captain Kortos will be using.
Is there anyone here who would benefit from the Strike Hard tactic?
Offensive
Brandish Commander Tactic
Source Battlecry! pg. 26
You command an ally to attack. Signal a squadmate within the aura of your commander’s banner. That ally immediately attempts a Strike as a reaction.
The only ones that I really could see using it are Schek Nek and Ebren. Schek and Ebren, would Strike Hard be helpful? Otherwise I am going to leave that tactic in the Portfolio this time.
I am currently looking at Gather to Me, Pincer Attack and Naval Training.

Those look like good choices.
Pincher Attack does pose a minor problem for my character as adjacent is technically outside my reach. I need to be in the same square to have an opponent in my reach. I doubt they considered tiny characters when they wrote this.
Captain Kortos
|
But you can still benefit from the off-guard that others set off. Let me know if you would want me to move your characters, or if you plan to include spoilers for the reactions I give you!
Irina Valishnakova
|
Technically Irina can benefit from strike hard but with a 16 strength she is less accurate than a proper melee class.
I haven't really read the commander yet. Do your tactics work on animal companions? Obviously the ones requiring a reaction won't be useful but the swim speed could come in handy.
Ebren Windbrook

The PBP Gameday starts in approximately 24 hours,
Isn't the start 9/4 midnight, UTC/GMT, which is 5pm on 9/3 US/Pacific time? By my count that's still 46 hours away.
Goes away to reread...
Arg... the announcement posts always throw me off.
ANNOUNCING PLAY-BY-POST GAMEDAY XIV
PbP Gameday XIV Event # 6,220,127
When: September 3, 2025 - November 26, 2025
further down the same post.
Important dates:
...
Start of PBP Gameday XIV - September 4, 2025
and further references to September 4 continuing.
This has burned me before. I really need to start checking them for internal consistency before my brain locks onto one date that I saw.
Ebren Windbrook
|
Ebren, would Strike Hard be helpful? Otherwise I am going to leave that tactic in the Portfolio this time.
Yes! Even though his made DPS vehicle is spellstrike, extra strikes in arcane cascade stance are still valuable, especially if the extra conditions around off-guard foes kick in (laughing shadow things).
Ebren Windbrook
|
Huh, I thought it started the 3rd as well.
You might be right. I only just realized the announce specified two dates. Maybe I locked onto the wrong one.
Chipped Tooth
|
I think it should. I assume you are talking about the damage bonus?
If you have a free hand while in the stance and are attacking a flat-footed creature, you increase the extra damage to 3, to 5 if you have weapon specialization, or to 7 if you have greater weapon specialization. You must have your other hand completely free; the extra damage doesn't apply if you have a free-hand weapon or other item in that hand, even if you would normally be able to use the hand for other things.
Provided you meet the requirements — free hand and in stance while opponent is off-guard — I see no reason why you wouldn’t get the bonus damage. It makes you really effective with the Pincher Attack.
Ebren Windbrook
|
Is the benefit of Gather to me for the save bonus?
Anyway, I think for Ebren strike hard and pincer make the most sense.
Ebren Windbrook
|
though each must end their movement inside your banner’s aura
so then I looked up the aura
As long as your banner is visible and in your possession, it provides an aura that gives you and all allies in a 30-foot emanation a +1 status bonus to Will saves and DCs against fear effects.
I was looking into why we'd otherwise want the group to converge on one person.
Schek Nek

I am willing to spend a reaction for Strike Hard if it gets included.
Chipped Tooth
|
I was looking into why we'd otherwise want the group to converge on one person.
Ah, that explains it.
Yes, the aura gives a saving throw bonus and you would be in the aura at the end of your movement.
I believe that Kortos would most likely move forward towards the enemy and then use the tactic. In other words, she would allow people to converge on the enemy. How useful it is would depend heavily on initiative and the current state of the battlefield, but there are a lot of times where having an extra stride can help position people.

I think you're cheating yourself out of some healing. From the impulse levels section of kineticist:
Impulse Levels
Any impulse you use is the same level you are. For instance, if you're 5th level, your Elemental Blast would be 5th level (and its counteract rank would be 3rd rank), even though you gained the action at 1st level.Similar to spells, many impulses get more powerful as you increase in level. In these cases, the impulse ends with one or more “Level” entries. This either lists the levels at which the impulse gets an upgrade or has an entry with a plus sign that describes a benefit that increases on a regular basis. For instance, a 1st-level impulse with a “Level (+4)” entry would get stronger at 5th, 9th, 13th, and 17th levels.
As a 1st level impulse, your fresh produce impulse gets better every 2 character levels, adding 1d4+5 healing and 2 void resistance. So 2d4+6 healing and 4 resist void at level 3.
Irina Valishnakova

@GM Tiger. Irina has Beastmaster dedication and has picked up a second animal companion although she can only have one active at a time. The macros sheet only has room for a single animal companion. Her bear and her moose do have exactly the same AC, saves, HP, and skills however. They only differ in attacks, support abilities and the moose has the mount ability.

You are correct, thanks!
I am so used to spellcasters that I automatically treated it like the spell Heightened values. Spell ranks go up at odd levels, so Heightened +2 on a 1st rank spell requires 3rd rank which you get at 5th.
Captain Kortos

The Gather to Me tactic works best if the Commander wins initiative, runs towards the enemy and then brings the whole party with them, but it can also work to reposition during a battle since you can move anywhere in the aura of the banner.
But... I am the lowest level party member, and thus the least likely to win initiative. So let's toss Gather to Me to the side, and do:
Strike Hard
Pincer Attack
Naval Training
Is there anyone who would need the extra reaction to preserve an important reaction?
