Omni's theme grants her a Trap Spotter ability, allowing a secret Perception check when she comes within 10 feet of a hidden trap.
Her Perception bonus is +15
If it happens to be made of alien or ancient tech, the DCs drop by 5.

At the bottom of the spiral stairs sits a small room filled with boxes and boxes of gleaming siccatite ore. The shimmering metal lends the chamber a chill that makes the hair stand up on exposed skin.
This chamber contains a small fortune worth of raw siccatite ore, mostly loaded into crates awaiting transport, though a few pieces have been carved into decorative art objects.
You have found everything of note inside the ruins. There is still the glowing purple device outside, or you could return to either the town or your ship.

Omni transfers some of the art objects into her NullSPace chamber, though she consumes a Quorlu Fire Gem before she handles them, quickly to reduce the chill effect.
"Maybe we should give the purple device a closer look on the way out?"
Belor McKraken TROX SOLDIER
|
"Yes this seems wise Omni to look over the device once more. Perhaps we should return to this town. Perhaps they would like to know about the developments before we return back to Absalom Station. Any objections?"
Patrick Messier
|
None from me. I'd just like to get a better shot at that waterfall, but yes. Checking out that glowing purple thing does seem to be a good idea.
Patrick also seems to be pondering something else too.

Back to the purple thing the Starfinders go.
”Belor McKraken Perception”: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22

“Iseph Perception”: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26
Yup, definitely looks purple. What do you want to do about it?
| cmlobue |
It is neither magical nor radioactive.

Omni leans into it, seeing if it will move.
Also waiting for that spider-sense tingle if there's a trap involved.
athletics to move the glowing purple thing: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28

Omni-Lithic attempts to move the purple thing. She doesn't get very far
Electricity Damage: 8d12 ⇒ (4, 3, 2, 3, 8, 10, 6, 4) = 40
Reflex DC 19 half
For every 10 points of damage you take, one random technological item on your person gains the broken condition. However, since there are no more encounters, I will not make you figure it out.
Iseph Reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
After the blast, it emits a high-pitched whine, as if it were recharging.
Leave or try to disable it (Engineering or Mysticism)?

reflex save vs DC 19: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
shirt reroll, cause why not: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
Then she uses an RP to trigger her Mitigate ability, reducing the damage by 10, to a total of 10.
Just for the heck of it, her list of tech items isn't that long.
1) Forcepack, 2) Juggernaut Booster, 3) Thermal Capacitor mk 1, 4) Filtered Rebreather, 5) datapad, 6) Skyfire Pinion armor, 7) Tactical Shield, 8) Backup Generator, 9) Adv. SA Pistol, 10) Broad Spectrum Scanner

Looks like the Backup Generator in the shield

Patrick has no trouble deactivating the device now that he knows what it is. When the trap is disabled, its light turns off, revealing that it does not do anything but glow and discharge electricity. Rasheen’s stylized R insignia is scratched into the glass. Without the light, it is also clear that the device looks so unusual because it was originally a cobbled-together piece of junk created by an engineer with more enthusiasm than technical skill and is now worth little more than scrap.
Ship or town?

"We should probably head back to town - the mayor might worry about us disappearing up here if we don't." says Omni while taking a brief siesta, admiring the nearby falls.
1 RP to regain her SP.

The Starfinders return to the town to find Elarora sharing a jug of sweet tea with an agender damai on the porch of Elarora's home. They seem surprised to see you at first, but the elf introduces her friend as Naeyri and offers you all some tea before asking how your visit to the ruins went.
For this scenario, you can't just gloss over the report. I need to know what conclusions you share with the pair to determine how this ends.

"I thought that our trip to the ruins was interesting. The falls are very nice. The ruins could use some work. There's a cobbled-together device that we couldn't figure out, but it's a serious shock hazard. It'd disabled until you can get a tech up there. Most of the doors are welded shut, but the one above-ground room we examined had some oozes that had moved into it. Very clingy. Not a fan. We found some siccatite tucked away in an underground room, along with a note from Rasheen, pointing us further along our path. That's pretty much it, in a nutshell."
| cmlobue |
Anyone have something to add? If not, I will move on with this statement.
Patrick Messier
|
Patrick shows the two the images of the falls and some of the other stuff he photographed, including the oozes and the flora. Apart from that, he's got not much more to add.
Ready to move on

The pair acts shocked and saddened to hear of their town hero’s betrayal, but thank the Starfinders for telling them the “truth” and wish them well as the team returns to the Unflappable Cockroach.
You return to the Starfinder Society with a pile of siccatite treasure and reports of a successful mission. The Acquisitives leader congratulates you heartily on a job well done and immediately sets his research team to decoding the next beacon’s signal.

On the way back, Patrick attempts to ask Captain Yvyrna out on a dinner date.

And a nibble of the cool siccatite, just for the thrill of it.
