Complying, Dejen jumps up, attempting to pin down the bug with the talons on his feet while trying to bite and gore it with the claws on his small arms.

The Loose bug creature falls twitching the small deinonychus further eviscertaing it. Its not too diffucult to stab into the cage with the other caught one ending its life as well, and the fires now that you are unfettered with fighting for your life its easy enought to use the buckets of sand and magical water giving you plenty of time to search through the ship.
"Jetsam"
With the threat finally neutralized, Jet gives Aliyah--and then Dejan--a nod and starts searching the ship's cabin.
She's not very good at looking for things; I'll make this an Aid Another check for whoever can use it.
Jetsam Perception Check (Aid Another): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15 Success! +2 to someone else's check!
Lily Whitehill
Lily joins Jetsam in searching the cabin for anything that will help us and our employer. "What on earth were they doing carrying those creatures?"
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Lily Whitehill
Appraise: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
15 with Jetsam's Aid another.

Looking at the exotic caged animals currently slowly settling down as the fires were contained, it would seem that the folks whom had taken the ship were storing what appeared to be a smuggling operation of rare animals.
A lot of those parots alone would go for 8 to 10 gold in the markets.
You discover a large trunk in the captains cabin that contains 100 platinum peices, the missing payment Lavinia paid to have her ship returned, and long with a signet ring with a peice of paper rolled up into it in a hidden compartment in the room.
it reads.
Chimera looks to sunrise,
Cyclops looks to sunset,
Medusa looks to sunrise,
Umberhulk looks to sunset
Basilisk looks to sunrise.
Tedros
We should free these animals into the jungle! Tedros suggests.
Nassor, night watchman
"Best to just return with what we were asked to bring," Nassor suggests. "What we've done so far, we've a noblewoman backing us up. We start selling off these birds, we might lose her favor."
He stares at the list of strange creatures, and shakes his head. "What is this anyhow, a shopping list? Were these fools seriously thinking about shipping a basilisk?"
"Jetsam"
Jet nods at Nassor and suggests waiting to Tedros. "If you think these creatures would be able to survive if released back into the wild, I'm good with that. After all, we'll be getting the second half of our payment once we give Lady Vanderboren her signet ring."
That said, the young swordswoman hops into the party's rowboat, ready to return to their employer.
Tedros
I have no intention to sell any of them. But they should not be locked up here.
He looks down, torn.
But I understand the lady trusted us. If we return with the ring, maybe she will see reason and allow us to free them?
He looks around at the more civilized members for confirmation, with just a hint of hope and optimism.

Lily is trying to puzzle out the riddle on the piece of paper and doesn't contribute to the discussion about the exotic creatures.
Nassor, night watchman
Nassor thinks for a moment, then shrugs. ”On the other hand, those spider-things were probably more valuable than the parrots,” he gestures to the carcasses. ”If a couple extra cages get opened … well, what more could happen?”
