"This will not go well for you, paladin!" says the priest. He attacks Gothia!
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
:::::
Okay people, just to remind you, initiative is handled as when you can post! According to the RAW, Vesica goes first. But in reality, who ever can post first goes first. :)
Gothia VonSalais
Moving towards her foe, Gothia swings her sword, adding the strength of her commitment to Heironeus to the attack.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Using smite to add +1 damage to attack
Vesica "Tavern Tale"
TT inspires courage in her allies and start to circle around behind the priest to help her allies by (possibly) flanking the servant of the naga-god.
Sea Ranger
Sea Ranger darts into the fight as well, slashing with the scimitar he wields.
Scimitar Attack (Inspired): 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7
Scimitar Damage (Inspired): 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 1 = 9
Gothia VonSalais
Ok then, I will post my round 2 actions then
Catching the evil cultist's mace upon her shield, Gothia pushes it aside and again swings her sword at the priest.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 1 = 24
Damage: 1d10 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 1 = 16

The blow lands true, and you manage to kill him. Chestman smashes a vase.
Sea Ranger
Sea Ranger frowns at the corpse. "Dead men can't give us any answers - though I've heard of powerful spells that could make him speak. In any case, perhaps there are clues here that might lead us to their base." The druid starts to follow Chestman in the search, then grasps the dwarf's shoulder, slowing him down.
"There may be traps, especially if he has anything valuable to protect. Is anyone able to deal with that possibility?" He glances around, his eyes lingering on TT.
Thanks GM! Anyone skilled in finding and disabling traps? You know... just in case?
Vesica "Tavern Tale"
TT eventually notices that Sea Ranger's looking in her direction. "No-no-no! A party that relies on a one-eyed bard to locate traps gets what it deserves, in my humble opinion!" she replies shaking her head vigorously. "That why we have Tallen with...us.... Tallen? Tallen! Where'd he go??!!"
If we've indeed lost Tallen's player, I wouldn't mind having TT sink a level into rogue now.
Gothia VonSalais
I have a feeling it might just be 4 of us left...let's hope Tallen and Brenfine can rejoin us!!
Gothia looks at the dead priest and gives her head a slow shake.
"I am sorry...I should have restrained myself and kept him alive. I shall try to do better...but when I see evil I just have to remove its taint from our world!"
She kneels and examines the dead man's gear and possessions.

He has a key ring with five keys. One for the vestibule, one for the Church itself, one for a chest in the vestibule, one for his private chambers, and one for a safe, kept in the vestibule. That is, other than the morning star mace he was carrying.
Gothia VonSalais
"I might be able to help with some of the locks here, but let us remember this is a place of worship! We are not here to remove the treasures of the church, but to free those enslaved by this snake cult. Let us leave the trappings of the temple alone, but help ourselves to any ill-gotten booty gathered by the cult to carry out their nefarious plans!"
The paladin hands the keys to Vesica as she walks over to the chest in the vestibule.
"I suppose we can start here!"
Vesica "Tavern Tale"
Tavern Tale takes the keyring and then squats beside the chest Gothia pointed out. She eyeballs the keyhole of its lock and tries to pick the most likely fit before choosing a key. Having heard that sometimes chests are trapped, she examines it and its lock before trying any keys in the hole.
Vesica Perception Check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Since everything looks safe, she turns the key and then attempts to open the chest's lid.
Vesica "Tavern Tale"
Tavern Tale tries to keep one hand over the label while holding it open for Gothia and the others to inspect. Her neutral look soon cracks as a smile appears across her face and she repositions her hand, revealing the box's true intent.
Gothia VonSalais
Gothia sees the sign and is ready to give Vesica a stern talking too, but then notices the girl's smile and grins while shaking her head.
"You had me there!! Thanks for the humor Tavern Tale...it helps with the tension!"
She replaces the silver in the box and has Vasica relock it.
"Well onto the next room I suppose."
Sea Ranger
Sea Ranger grins at TT. "Well played!" He picks up the morning star and hefts it, feeling the weight. "You don't suppose this is magical, do you?" He asks the others as he follows the dwarf and the paladin into the priest's private chambers. Maybe they'll find a clue as to the location of the cultist's base in there.
Vesica "Tavern Tale"
"Good point!" TT exclaims in a hushed whisper. "Let's see if the morningstar or anything alse around here is magical...."
TT casts detect magic and scans the fallen priest's gear and the rest of the room for any emanations.
Gothia VonSalais
"Indeed it does. Leave it there for now and we will decide what we must do with it later. Maybe wrap it in this blanket so no one touches it....you can never be too safe with such cursed items."
She hands Vesica the blanket to cover the Morningstar then proceeds to the priests bed chambers.

The priest's chambers are located up the stairs on the second story. You and the party will have to go up.
Vesica "Tavern Tale"
TT follows Gothia's order to a (single) T, wrapping up the dark morningstar and offering it to any of the others to carry.
Vesica's so poor she doesn't even have a backpack yet.
Vesica "Tavern Tale"
TT keeps an eye out for other dangers as the party heads upstairs.

As the party starts heading up the stairs, Tavern Tale passes on the info about the painting with the prying eyes quietly to the person in front of her with instructions to pass it one to whomever (Gothia?) is leading the ascent.
"We might want to deal with this threat before exploring the second floor, else we might get caught in a pincer move and surrounded...."
Gothia VonSalais
Gothia turns and looks to where the woman is indicating the picture with the odd eyes.
"You may be right", she whispers back.
She then reaches for her divine power to detect evil influences and directs to the painting and the lurker beyond.

"You, behind the painting. We mean you no harm...please come out. We have killed the evil priest so you have nothing to fear."
A false door opens, and out steps a boy in rags. He's no more than twelve years old. His blonde hair is disheveled, and his skin tanned. His knees are bare, as his rags are short. He's wearing wicker sandals. His big blue eyes look at you.
Sea Ranger
Sea Ranger tries a tentative smile as he squats down in front of the boy to put himself at roughly eye level. "Neat trick, and good thinking to hide back there. What's your name, lad?"
Vesica "Tavern Tale"
TT smiles at the boy, warm and unthreatening. Though she wants the lad to feel safe, she also wonders if perhaps he's part of some deception by the cultists.

You can't tell if the boy is deceiving you, unfortunately.
Gothia VonSalais
"The boy is fine...an innocent. I am more interested in how many other secret passages are within this building and if there are any more people! Can you help us with that son?"
She looks down upon the boy, not un-gently, but still with a stern look upon her face.
