Male Hairy Highlander Halfbreed (ThirdSwede) Barbarian 9/King O' The North 5/Staffy Dad 7

My Cavalier is coming together - one Bulvarius Jeggare; a headstrong young Korvosan noble whose head was filled with tales of legendary local monsters and myths from time (mis)spent in the city's Jeggare Museum as a child.

Gallant but somewhat of a vainglory, he is the epitome of an ironclad monster hunter.

Sorry, I'm in the same situation as Tot.

Still up for playing as well, but would probably prefer to go with a new character rather than playing the same one over two games.

Any progress on a new character?

AdamWarnock wrote:

So there's three of us that would be interested in continuing. I have a few ideas, though.

1. Mia Curseborn, a changeling ranger or magus, not sure which at the moment. She'd be similar to Tot as far as personality and themes go.

2. Gkirkhan, a half-orc fighter/barbarian that is not that bright, but has charm and a thing for the "vimmens." If you've ever read Girl Genius, he's a Jagermonster. He's here to drink, woo, and fight. Word of advice, don't touch his hat.

3. Joanna Whitehall, an aasimar paladin/bard of Shelyn. She was originally my Shattered Star PC. but I think she could also work very well in Rise of the Runelords.

I'm also open to working something out with anyone interested in teaming up for character creation.

All three present some intresting rp possiblities. Any progress?

So we have Kemras, who is an investigator, our Storm Druid in Audra, a (non-mounted) cavalier in Bulvarius, and a couple of as-yet unknowns?

That's correct.

If we don't hear back from Adam or Zorlen, I'll have to re-recuit.
But I'll give them a bit more time :)

Sorry for the lack of feedback - it's been a really rough week, and I couldn't really find the time to sit down and write the concepts down. The mechanical builds are pretty much finished and you can find them below. I haven't had much time for posting each day, though, and have been prioritising the games that are running. I'll try to at least add some bullet points with the main themes and concepts for each, so you can get a feel for the characters (they're pretty much done in my head, the problem is writing the details down properly).

Sorceress: Mag Flametouched

Warpriestess: Sara Deverin

Pancakes, both look like fun, but I'm partial to the Warpriest as I've never played one and would like to see how one progresses.

PM'd Adam to see if he was still interested.

I'd like to get this show back on the road!

Adam's out for now, he may re-join us in the new year.

That leaves Pancake to make a decision on what character to play, and that will give us four to start with.

I'm debating recruiting one or two more...

Still to pick equipment and finalise skills, but he's coming together nicely.

@Kemras, I think cans of spinach might help. Hmm, are cans of spinach a thing in Golarion> :)

@Sara Super! Look forward to reading it!

@BW Nice! Please read what there is of the gameplay, its mostly the original characters ( including Kemras and Audra ) on the caravan into town. Did you come with the Caravan from Korvosa or by boat, or perhaps already here in Sandpoint?

@Audra still with us?

At some point soon , I'll continue the scene at the Festival. Sara and BW, introduce your characters the campaign, interact etc and we'll go from there. The previous characters will still be there, but will fade into the crowd.

Whoops, forgot all about our slayer Firavel. He said he was interested...I'll PM him.

I'll be going into something of a ranged build, using the starknife as a thrown weapon. It won't really work sustainably until I get Ricochet Toss at 6th level, or earlier if I can get a Blinkback Belt.

I'll be carrying a couple spare starknifes until then, to give me a ranged option without leaving myself without a weapon afterwards. So I think you should be able to keep your melee build without much problems and I'll adapt as needed.

I figured GM Spazmodeus was telling us to do just that from this line. Introduce our characters and interact a bit before he moves us forward.

Ah....there's Audra! Welcome back!

So we've got our Storm Druid, WarPriest, Cavalier and Investigator present and accounted for. Well sort of, introduce yourself whenever you want Bulvarius.

I sent a PM to our slayer, Firavel, but haven't heard back. He said he was interested and is currently still posting in other campaigns, so I'll assume he'll join us.

Was a busy week so still have a bit of prep, so I'll let your characters enjoy the festival and each other for a bit until I move things along.

Hello all. So things are looking up. For those that don't know, within about two weeks, both of my grandmothers wound up in the hospital and I learned that my employer's HR department wasn't going to renew my flexible work agreement which will mean I have a 3-hour-long, 180-mile commute every weekday unless we can come up with something that can satisfy HR. While it appeared that one of my grandmothers wasn't going to make it, she's doing better and the other turns 96 today. I'm off until the beginning of the year, so while I'm on the hunt for a new job, I should have some time to put a character together for this game and hop in. Debating on going with Joanna or reincarnating a cleric of Shelyn. any thoughts?

Mechanically a case could be made for both!
But I always say, play what you want to play!

Glad your grannies are doing better!

As for Joana, I think you should go with whatever option looks more fun for you at the moment. If I had to pick one, I'd probably lean towards a cleric rather than a paladin, only because I think we're pretty good on the martial front as is (and it's not like clerics can't be competent on that front, too!), and clerical magic is always helpful (Sara gets it as well, but with a much slower progression).

Male Neutral Good Half-Elf (Varisian) Investigator (Antiquarian) 1 | HP 10/10 | AC 14, Touch 12, FF 12 | CMB -1, CMD 11 | Fort +1, Ref +4, Will +4 (+2 vs. enchantment) | Initiative +3 | Perception +11 (+12 for traps), Low-light vision | Speed 30 ft. | Inspiration Pool 4/4 | Hero Points: 1 | Active Conditions:

And yeah, I'd recommend a cleric. We do have a fair amount of access to healing, too (between Sara, Audra, and Kemras), so you'd be freer to explore broader mechanics than the pidgeonholed healer. I think?

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

I'm glad they're both doing better. Planning on seeing them both tomorrow.

As for a character, what you're saying is pretty much aligning with what I was thinking. So maybe I should lay out a little more about what I have in mind.

Terri Riverrun is the cleric. I think either Shelyn or Desna. Both would fit rather well in the AP as written, though Desna more so. I'd probably focus more on spellcasting than on anything else.

Joanna Whitehall is the paladin of Shelyn, but I wouldn't start her off that way. Thinking about it, I think starting her off as a bard would make the most sense, and she'd build up to becoming a Paladin at level 5 after finishing off Book 1. Main reason being she's a noblewoman and starting her off as a fighter or a paladin doesn't feel right, and I think this could be a better story.

If I had to pick one right this second, I'd pick Joanna.

Either way, I'd have fun.

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

A quick question, is the trait rich parents allowed?

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

Been working on both Terri and Joanna in parallel, but now I'm at the point where I need to make a decision.

Joanna Whitehall:

Josephina Annabella Whitehall, or Joanna to her friends, is the daughter of Lord and Lady Whitehall. Her family runs the Whitehall Mercantile Company, which has branches in several cities throughout the Inner Sea, including in Absolom. While her older brother studies under her father to take over the family business, Joanna studies the arts under her mother, a priestess of Shelyn. The various stories she's heard over have captured her imagination, leading to a tendency of slipping out when no one's paying attention so she can hear the stories at the taverns throughout Magnimar. While she's had a few close calls, she's been able to charm her way out of trouble when running hasn't been an option.

She's related to the Derevins and Valdemars as a cousin, and I think would know Sara from the times one of them has visited the other's hometown. When Joanna learned of the Swallowtail Festival, she jumped at the chance to visit and celebrate with her cousin.

I've got two versions of Joanna, one with Rich Parents and one without. I figure it'd be more a matter of what her parents were comfortable with her travelling with rather than what she actually owns since in all likelihood Joanna's family is loaded.

Terri Riverrun:

Terri is originally from Korvosa. She is good friends with a painter, Trinia Sabor, and the two are known for getting up to mischief. The young priestess of Shelyn was raised by the clergy of the Sanctuary of Shelyn, and has lived a rather sheltered life until now. However, her most recent escapade with Trinia has gotten them both into hot water after they painted an unflattering mural of Queen Ileosa when they'd gotten a little tipsy. The head of the Sanctuary sent them off to Magnimar in the hope that they'd stay there and not cause him anymore headaches. Shortly after arriving, the pair heard about the Swallowtail Festival in Sandpoint and immediately made plans to attend.

There is a painting of the two of them in the nude by Salvator Scream floating around that was done about a year ago. Terri still isn't sure how Trinia managed to get her to agree to it, though she knows it likely involved the two of them getting drunk.

AdamWarnock wrote:

Sorry , I forgot to answer you. yeah, it's a bit unbalanced so I'd have to say no to Rich Parents , just to keep you even with the other characters.

That's fair. I mainly wanted it for some things to highlight that Joanna is a noble woman, but I understand why you'd want to nix it.

But moving forward, in the interest of keeping thing moving, I'll give 24hrs from my last combat post. If at that time I'm ready to post, I'll bot any who haven't posted. So, please add a combat bot action you'd like me to use if I have to, feel free to provide different actions depending on the scenario. Otherwise, I'll probably just go with whatever fits the situation without stupidly endangering your character. I just won't leave your character standing still with a vacant look on their face! :)

Also, in the interests of keeping thing moving, I have two proposals for rolling saving throws. I could roll for you on my combat turn when appropriate, or when you guys post your turn, you could provide rolls for Will, Dex, Con, CMD etc saves that I would use when appropriate.

I'm trying to avoid the whole extra post for a save roll, I've seen it literally take up days of real time to resolve that sort of thing.

Thanks
Al

I confess to not having huge insight into how I want to handle Kemras' if you need to bot him. I'll entrust him to you until I get a better handle on it.

With regards to saves, I don't mind if you roll them - to keep things moving, and all.
