Asking directions you head down several lairs of the Spire until you come to the level that Valsin indicated.

Signs of battle—most commonly dried blood, scorch marks, and
smashed bones—appear along the stairway down.
The stairs end in the northeast corner of a small, brightly lit
room with a door on the west wall. In the center of the room
are two large iron racks holding numerous burning candles. The
iron candleholders are crafted so that each candle appears to be
held in the jaws of a serpent. A phrase is written on each rack
in Undercommon.

Muddy glances at each of his new teammates, excitement evident in his expression.
"Hi! Me Muddy," he declares enthusiastically, blinking his large, black, bulbous eyes. The little grippli is a mesmerizing sight with translucent, almost ghostlike skin, adorned with yellow and black hues reminiscent of a poison dart frog. His rapidly pulsating heart is visible beneath his ribcage, and his lungs rhythmically expand and contract.
A short, wickedly sharp obsidian blade with a chiseled point and distinct flake scars along its edges (like a stone age crafted weapon) is sheathed at his hip, while a finely crafted yet crude-looking morningstar dangles from the opposite side of his belt. Slung over his back is an exotic longbow, skillfully crafted from living greenwood and adorned with feathers and bone trinkets.
"It be long time since me last went into dungeon. Me ready to go on adventure!"
He salutes the Venture Captain, then, with a lively step, marches out the door.

In the town near the dungeon, Muddy suggests that he and his teammates get a bite to eat before dungeon delving.
"Can't go adventuring with empty belly!"
Before a bowl of stew is served to everyone, he dumps in a vial of his Chef's Secret Recipe seasoning into the pot and mixes it in. He gives it a taste and then a chef's kiss.
"Mmmm. Very spicy! Make you feel strong."
Everyone gets a +1 alchemical bonus to Fortitude saves for the next 24 hours!

At the base of the stairs, Muddy glances over his shoulders at his teammates, blinking his large, bulbous eyes.

Muddy will search the 10' area he is in and then each 10' area of the north & south iron racks. Perception+10.

Half-orcs aren't generally known for 'classically beautiful' features. Rough, square outlines combine with extra bulk to inflate the softer structure of the human form. Even so, the green flesh doesn't tend to be putrid as long as the individual bathes. Maybe this individual does, but the dark blotches on his exposed flesh must have some explanation.
"Wise you are, friend Muddy! Adventures are best met full and ready." Devouring the stew in short order, he introduced himself as Yroh, Snow-Blessed.

"You can all come down to this area. Me go check racks now."
Muddy steps forward about 5 feet and checks the north rack for traps and anything out of the ordinary, followed by the south rack.

Sorry! I knew you were melee-heavy and didn't think I had made it in.
A brawny half-elf who had totally been here the whole time stands with the others. The armor covering his chest and upper arms is made of woven strips of tree bark, and feathers and small animal bones are woven into his long hair. Though his physical strength is obvious, he carries few weapons: a common-looking greatsword, a sling at his belt. "Am Dumm!" he had said proudly, pointing at his chest, by way of introduction during first muster.
"Muddy take a great risk, friend," Dumm says appreciatively to the grippli as he follows into the area deemed safe.

Offering a quick scritch to Blarg, Yroh moves down to join Muddy in his inspection of the candles. "These words are unknown to me, but not unknown to the snows!" With a quick prayer, he enchants himself with the power of comprehension.

When you are ready to move on, the ooze flows into the room and suddenly from the side from where you came! Is this an ambush?! You may already be ready to take up arms when the ooze, instead of attacking you, suddenly begins to gather, stretches up and eventually takes the form of a tifling woman with very attractive shapes. The slimy surface hardens and becomes quite a normal ruddy skin. Her red eyes look you up and down. The woman adjusts her clothes and jewelry (before the ooze acquired humanoid form, it all just floated in it). She runs her hand through her black hair and smiles pleasantly enough. Koani. Blarg. Hello to you. She smiles at everyone else once more. And hello to all of you new friends! Name's Lilah... Lilah Al-Fasi. Then she takes out a magic wand and casts a spell (mage armor). I'm ready. Shall we go?

He whirls around and throws his arms up over his face just as the trap goes off, getting badly burned but avoiding the worst of it. He pats his singed hair afterward to smother the tiny flames. "Dangerous place already, and this group has not seen even any yet monsters."

As soon as the door opens, a rank odor, like a burned corpse was
left out in the sun for a week, rushes out.
The room is an irregular octagon, and stone and wood
barricades have been built in front of the doors on the south
and west walls. It appears the walls were once covered with
frescoes, but these have all been smashed, leaving rough walls
and jagged debris.
