    Demonica misses several times, but Henry is able to connect, his needles tearing into the cultist as Bireli moves closer (botting your last action to move back toward everyone else).

    With a disconcertin *SCHLORP* sound, a strange iridescent mass gloops up through the cracked stone above the well! Moving disturbingly quickly, it lashes out at the nearest creature--Demonica!

    Otoro clobbers the ooze with a blast of cold that knocks it backward, but doesn't manage to break the things grasp on Demonica. Henry peppers the ooze with needles, but they seem to bounce harmlessly off its shimmering surface (resistance). Bireli, meanwhile, batters the remaining cultist with his probing cane, dropping her unconscious to the ground!

    When the ooze releases his sister, Bireli is flooded with a wobbly sense of relief. However, they are still in danger, so he steels himself and rushes the ooze. He leaps to the well to the work bench to the other side of the ooze where Henry stands.

    Henry sprays the ooze with more needles. Though many of them once again bounce off the creature's strange, rippling surface, a few of them stick in this time (resist 5 piercing)!

    Bireli, meanwhile, moves in and clobbers the slow-moving ooze with his wooden sword. The bludgeoning seems more effective, the ooze not resisting it at all, though his fancy moves don't seem to help him find a week spot (it didn't resist the bludgeoning at all, but the 2 precision damage seemed to have no effect)

    Otoro freezes the ooze with a chilling blast, though it improbably manages to dodge the worst of the hail (a very unlikely Success on the reflex save). Frostbitten and ragged, the thing is an easy target for Puddins, who sinks her massive sword into it. Again, though, the creature's strange surface resists her blow, and it doggedly persists! Puddins focuses the remainder of her attention on healing her sword-sister (no disruption this time).

    The strange creature seems hungry for more magic, and focuses it's gloopy appendage at the last spellcaster it stole magic from--Henry!

    It's all too much for the ooze as Otoro's attack coats the creature in icy frost, causing its glistening, iridescent surface to crack and flake away. Soon, the whole wobbling shape loses cohesion, falling into a gooey mess on the floor!

    Out of combat. There's a lot to look through in this room. Do you want to spend a little time looking around, or press on quickly looking for Henry's mom?

    While Puddins tends to Henry, he goes over to investigate the ruined bookshelves.

    Assuming that after Henry drinks some potions--go ahead and roll your healing for however many you drink--you're all going back to the door with the padlock, I'll move us back there:

    Mostly healed up after your last fight, you head back to the grand hall where you fought Ragnulf. Examining the lock, Puddins realizes that the keyhole looks similar to one of the keys your found on the desk next door. Sure enough, the padlock clicks open, and once removed the door opens easily.

    Inside, you're met with the stench from over-full chamber pots, nearly overpower in this vast, dusty chamber. The remains of archery targets, practice dummies, and wooden training posts lie sprawled around the room--it appears that components taken from these old furnishings have been used to build a few rickety-looking beds to the north. A feeble oil lamp glows from the center of the room, perched on an old sawhorse. A sturdy ring, obviously meant for a chain, is mounted to the wall. The only exit is the door you now stand in, and you don't see anyone else inside.

    You get a distinctly 'prison' vibe from this room.

    Drinking a couple of small vials along the way Henry's adrenaline alone keeps him moving at a frantic and near suicidal pace. Henry's shoulders slump as he picks up the ring meant for a chain and drops it. "She's not here." He looks around for any sign that his Mother may have been here.

    "That note means they kept her alive, which means we can still save her. We are going to have to keep searching these rooms to find a way down and find her. I suggest we start with the ones over there and then there."

    Arriving at the first room Puddins suggested, the door opens to reveal heaps of ruined furniture and skeletal remains, which cover most of the floor. No other doors are visible in the room.
