From her description, it seems Sennos may have the Athletic Champion background as well. If so, is there a chance we may have heard of or know each other?
Lore: Games (Trained) is +3.
Depending on the competitions, that's very likely, especially if there was the possibility of them competing against the other.
Lore(Games): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 That's a "Definitely" from the dice. =D

Just realised everyone's either a half-elf or a human. This has to be the most "normal" party I've been a part of.
An all female group as well! Should be a lot of fun :D

While not as definitive, it does seem The Dice have decreed this an interesting plot point! lol

That sounds like fun! Which competitions would typically see Aria entered into?
Sennos is usually the decathlon/pentathlon type, with less emphasis on physical combat, as grand ring events are a bit too unruly for her taste. Smaller duels, above-board proxy wagers, and structured competitions are more to her liking.

Aria Half-Elven |

Sounds like we're not direct competitors then. Aria is more of the arena/ring type where physical combat is the main draw. She is known for singing during her bouts, which is seen as a way to empower her performance whilst demoralizing her opponents. Her favored weapon is a whip, used to effect as she acrobatically moves around the arena.
It's possible they may have faced off in a one-to-one smaller duel at some point.

I figured as snobby as Taldan nobility could be, that just about everyone would play a human!

Something reasonably low-stakes, or perhaps curiosity? I'm willing to say that Sennos lost, but not without trying to hammer throw Aria because she got annoyed at the whip. Or a partnered duel where she drew Aria's partner.

Good thing we have a cleric in the group, with magic to help with that cough! lol
I thought we were a person short, as I didn't see Volt strut into the waiting room. Sorry 'bout that, been under the weather lately...

I think you also have to understand, if you are a lore nerd, that PF2 setting takes place after ALL the PF1 content has taken place, so you may have to suspend disbelief for a bit and understand that Grand Prince Stavian III is still the ruler of what remains of the Taldan empire in this time and place. So reading settings books or lore for PF2 won't help you much. There are some good sourcebooks for PF1 for Taldor, if you are so inclined.
We can discuss that more if you have questions.

After this opening sequence, and the week before the gala, you can do as much detective or lead work as you see fit. We can do that increments, or just via certain skill checks to Gather Information, etc.
Once you are all ready to to have the next scene with Lady Martella, we will move there.
This part is as sandbox-y as you want it to be.

Please continue to interact if you wish in the opening scene, but only 2 posts since Monday means the group is slowing down. You can actually do both with a lead in like "LATER" or "During the week". Up to you.
Instead, you can post what your PC does during the intervening week, including their interaction at Thread Rare, and what your outfit looks like etc.
you can handwave all that if you wish, or attempt some checks for investigation or other background information as you deem appropriate.
FYI, this AP is pretty sandbox in places, so you are going to have to make your own way without me leading you to it. So think that way.

I want to apologize for any slowdown in posting. I've been recently given notice of my layoff so I've been focusing on next career steps. I'm still engaged here, though! Just a bit slower as I figure things out.

No worries. Things are slow moving now anyway, as people get their hooks set.
That's a tough break. What career are you in?

DM DoctorEvil |

not sure why, but it seems that posting for preparations has slowed down to nothing.
As such, I will fast-forward the group to the night of the gala, and the summons to once again call on Lady Martella. We will start that after the holidyay weekend, so if you have any other preparation posting you want to make, investigations to track down, or gear to get, let's get it moving.

I work in corporate finance, but I'm not too worried. I've already spoken to a few companies, and have high hopes I'll have something new soon.

All good, life happens. Thanks for the heads up.

Vylora |

I'm just letting you know I'm still about. I don't have anything in particular that Vylora will do between now and the day of exaltation so I'll just wait until then. But if anyone wants to ask for Vylora's help on one of their tasks ill jump in then as well.

Volturio "Volt" Levinus |

Thanks for touching base, see you soon!

Volturio "Volt" Levinus |

I'm thinking Vylora and I would want to make our attempt to sabotage the wine on the day of the function but prior to our actual arrival at the function. Im not 100% here, any thoughts?

Volturio "Volt" Levinus |

I'm not sure how you want to do the scene of Vylora and Volt sneaking in to turn the wine? With people arriving at the meeting, dressed for the event, I feel like the oportunity would be missed. As it might be brutal for players not involved, and in in the Paizo format, I'm also fine with you doing the secret rolls and letting us know how we did.

DM DoctorEvil |

I am not exactly sure what you have planned, but sub-rosa entry into the Senate is going to be very difficult to achieve. You would have to detail yoru actions, and we would have to play it out.
It's up to you if you defer until you are at least able to easily enter the building, and then rely on your sneak-thievery, or if you want to take your chances on a very difficult mission in advance.

Volturio "Volt" Levinus |

Volt overheard the officers talking about how hard it was tracking proper paperwork for access to the kitchen during setup for the event. I figured we could BS our way in that way, the day of the event, and be able to work our magic there before we get ready And attend the event proper. That's how I saw things playing out but I'm not a hard pressed for that plan, especially if it's gonna work out disastrously. Open to suggestions here also.

Volturio "Volt" Levinus |

Vylora, are you around for a quick plan so we're of the same mind on how to do this? I'm not heart set in any particular direction but I want to sort it out before I post at Lady M's meeting, if possible.
Sorry for the hold up, all.

Vylora |

I'm thinking it'll be easier to do once we're already inside rather than trying to sneak in beforehand. Just come up with an excuse to go into the kitchen "I simply must see the chef about these h'dourves" or something. Once in the kitchen, the staff is likely to be so busy that an opportunity presents itself.

Volturio "Volt" Levinus |

OK, that sounds pretty straight forward. Still interested in being the saboteur while I manage the distraction? It's the GM's call but I'd think I first roll for rhe distraction, modifier based on the tactic employed, and if successful is worth a bonus on what is now your roll,Stealth, to sour the wine, undetected. (Provate rolls?)
Please, any player/GM input here.

Volturio "Volt" Levinus |

Vylora:
Ok then, let's have you as the beautiful distraction. That way, when I bomb my D20 roll I can't use you as a scapegoat and blame you for ruining my assigned mission.
I propose we get into the kitchens, your suggestion of 'amazing hors d'oeuvres' seems like it would do the trick nicely, and as Volt is very observant, he will identify when you become the distraction and will set to work 'modifying' the wine.
I'm thinking we'll do this during the kitchen's busy time, likely shortly before, or during, when the food is served to the attending guests at the function.
Please make any further suggestions here, otherwise this is the submission to the GM for 'The Plan".
