Fluff:

Vylora was born a slave in the Darklands. She did eventually manage to escape finding her way to the surface near Taldor's northern border. She became a mercenary and sold the skills that she had developed over her rough childhood.

During one of her jobs, Vylora found herself in Oppara where she discovered her love for music. She spent what little money she had saved up on an old lyre and sought lessons. Luckily she turned out to be a natural and soon found herself in a band that would occasionally play at house parties thrown by the city's upper class.

It was at one such party that Vylora met Martella Lotheed. She had been using the noble's lackadaisical attitude to pocket some valuable-looking jewellery when Lady Lotheed caught her red-handed. Rather than having Vylora arrested, Martella decided to hire her on as an agent (under threat of course).

Officially Lady Lotheed is Vylora's patron, financing her pursuit of the musical arts. In reality that merely serves as an excuse to place Vylora where she can be most useful.
