The semitransparent image of a small, elderly Garundi woman dressed in typical Nexian garb stands at a podium on the eastern side of this room before an empty lecture hall. Her form doesn’t move, but three obvious runes on the podium glow with a pulsating light, alternating between pale blue and rose. Before the figure, magic shimmers over a sheaf of papers (boxed in Red on the Map), as if the figure were waiting to speak from prepared notes.

Hold up Zyek warns the others before they enter the room or approach the desk. Enchantment magic's no joke and I'm not sure if we can get close enough to strike out those runes without triggering it. That magic looks Complex too, not just a one-and-done.

The ysoki looks at her companion and sighs. really starting to wish I gave you actual hands LB. Maybe'll need to tinker with you when we get back.

GM: The runes are at the podium, yes? Or are they in the doorway? (essentially do we think we can try disabling from outside the room, or not?)

Shaking her head, she points to the door at the far end of the auditorium. If we're gonna try to move in and take the ward down before it does...whatever its gonna do, might as well get closer to it to be started. Mimi: you, me, and anyone else good at rune-scratching should come in through that side door. Looks like its by the ghosts' room.

Unless someone has a Dispel, Zyek's proposing all of the Theivery-ers head in from the door across from the Teaching Hall - less room to need to Stride through to reach the podium

The runes are on the podium. Think of it like the runes are on the top while the trap is below it. You need to disable the runes so the trap won't activate, and anyone trying to disable it by Thievery needs to be adjacent to it.

The shimmering magic dissipates, thanks to the old-school way of disabling the runes. Another fragment of the arclord's research is revealed in front of them on top of the podium.

I assume you will move to the next room so I will post about it as well.

The group then goes to the Evocation Atrium. The central area of this room has pedestals with runes corresponding to acid, cold, fire, and electricity, with central runes placed for sonic and force. The walls of the larger portion of the room each have their own extravagant mural representing one of the four elements.

The northern wall is covered by the image of an enormous caldera of an unknown volcano, a vast lake of lava that almost seems to glow intensely. The southern wall displays a vast coral reef, and the light from the ocean’s surface almost seems to dance. The eastern wall displays a yawning cave, and the depths seem almost real. The western wall displays a fierce tornado tearing through an open field. The image somehow perfectly captures the fury of the intense winds. The western section of the floor portrays beams and circles along with complex equations, while the eastern section of the floor is covered in sine waves and elaborate musical notation. The ceiling above is painted with the four elements all blending, and the centerpiece is a brightly glowing evocation rune, crackling with energy.

As the party then glances into the next atrium, the ysoki takes in the pictures on the walls. Hmmm. Alyreha's style's a bit outdated isn't it? Where's the forests or iron for Wood and Metal?

She turns to her colleagues. My hunch is we're gonna get blasted, but is anyone an art critic? Maybe something about the paintings is a clue in how to slip in nice and careful.

Dennis looks at the murals. "Wow! These pictures on the walls look lifelike." Before charging in, he spends a rare minute in thoughtful reflection, to see if the art means anything.

Brave to what might happen, Mimi enters the room and as she does so, the rune above activates its defenses, which send a burst of cold air and a beam of white magical light into the central squared-off portion of the room. The magic summons hostile elementals to greet the intruders.

Red ◆ solidifies the mist around it (Solidify Mist, see below), trapping anyone inside it (Mimi and Lil Brute, DC 20 Reflex save or become immobilized) and making it for others difficult to traverse! Area within Mist Cloud aura becomes Difficult Terrain. It then ◆ smacks Lil Brute with its water tentacle without difficulty in its own mist, thanks to its Mist Vision (see below)!

Re-reading the text, you are right. Mimi does not need to roll Reflex then.

Mimi moves and pokes Wispy on its critical part. Wispy takes 13 damage from first Strike. She pokes it again and does not miss/ Wispy takes another 8 damage.

Welcome to the game, everyone! Here are a few rules to abide by for everyone:

Kindly fill up the information needed in Slides and Maps (pages 2 and 3 for Character Info and Marching Order, respectively) and Macros (any available Sheet among Player 1 to Player 6 Sheets, for core stats and skill modifiers) linked above before we formally start the game. Also, please make sure to at least have the following information on your character's stat block for easy reference: Hit Points (HP), Armor Class (AC), Saving Throws (Fortitude, Reflex, and Will), Perception bonus, and Speed.

2. If you need templates for your spells (Emanation, Cone, Burst, and Line), you can copy them from pages 4 to 7 of the Slides linked above and paste them on the encounter map of the same Slides. There is no need to resize them because those are already adjusted for the Map we will be using. You can also find them under my alias as Spell Area Templates.

3. Kindly post at least once every day, and once on weekends. As we play the game, I would like to remind everyone that per the Organized Play Foundation Community Standards and Expectations, it reads:

No Character-versus-Character Combat

In keeping with the “Explore, Report, Cooperate” motto of the Pathfinder Society, engaging in non-consensual character-versus-character conflict is prohibited. While accidental friendly fire happens due to missed attack rolls or other factors, players must obtain the consent of other players before deliberately including fellow PCs in damaging effects [emphasis mine]. Engaging in character-versus-character conflict will award Infamy points and may render a character unplayable. This rule does not apply in situations where a character is not acting of their own free will, such as if they’re being mind-controlled by an NPC and forced to attack a fellow Pathfinder.

Mimi has Doubling Rings. They occasionally come in handy for when she uses her agile shortsword for a 2nd or 3rd attack. If you use a second weapon often, then the Doubling Rings are probably worth it.

I see that you have a Disrupting rune on your fauchard? That's not available until Level 5. Way before getting a Disrupting rune on my main weapon, I would pick up a Level 4 Striking rune. That way you get the extra die of damage on everything, not just undead.

Up to you really. The Fauchard has some nice things like Reach and Deadly d8, as well as Sweep and Trip if that's your thing. With 2 hands, the Bastard sword bumps you up 2 dice in the damage department, but you don't get the extras.

Dennis uses a Halberd with Reach, so if you go Fauchard, the rest of us will have to duck a lot when the two of you go into action. :)

You're probably strong enough that you can carry both around, except that the fauchard being 2-handed, you cannot wield them both at the same time, so doubling rings won't work with them. Only one of them will have the runes.

The Crimson Reclaimers do not require the use of a fauchard and none of the images in the LO:Character Guide and LO:Knights of Lastwall show anyone wielding a fauchard. In fact, I can't even find a mention of the weapon in LO:Knights of Lastwall, but I do see plenty of pictures of Knights wielding swords though.

So if you prefer the sword, I don't think there's much of a reason not to make it your primary weapon; you'll have plenty of company in the order.

A fauchard is similar to a glaive, save that its cutting edge is along the concave side. Fauchards are favored by Crimson Reclaimers for hacking through waves of zombies. The fauchard is a martial melee weapon.

The material was under the Knights of Last Wall entry in the character guide.

Just confirming that the only ways to disable the trap are Dispel Magic and Thievery.

Dennis isn't great at Thievery, but he's trained and he'll give it a shot if there aren't better options.

Your math doesn't quite match mine. If the first strike is a crit, then that's 8 doubled plus the deadly 5, for a total of 21. If you then add in the 8 damage from the second regular success, that should be a total of 29 rather than 21, unless there is something weird going on with resistances or immunities I don't know about.

Actually, you are right, I forgot to double the damage from your first Strike. I will adjust Wispy's HP in my next post. Wispy should be -29 HP now. Thank you for noticing that.

Here is my official Earn Income roll for Mimi's 8 days of downtime.

Between adventures, Mimi can usually be found at her grandfather's fencing academy in Gralton giving lessons on the proper use of a rapier.
