Initiative: I will roll initiative for everyone. Enemies will use block initiative to keep things as simple as possible. Player actions will be resolved in initiative order.
Knowledge Checks: I will be rolling knowledge checks for players. It’s faster for me to give you the info in spoilers immediately rather than having you roll and wait for me to respond. Rolling for you also allows me to customize what people learn to their characters rather than giving the exact same information to everyone who meets a DC. If you’re curious about something I haven’t rolled for already, just ask.
Perception: For similar reasons I will be rolling all Perception checks. I will assume your characters are not brain-dead and are regularly checking for things like traps, secret doors, and anything else that might require a Perception check even if you don’t specifically say so.
Sense Motive: I will roll Sense Motive for you whenever you are being outright lied to. If you want to get a general impression of the person you're talking to feel free to roll it yourselves.
Every Other Skill: I’ll call for rolls as necessary, but if you’re writing a post and feel one might be required go ahead and roll it.
Rule of Two: In the interest of keeping things moving, once two people have agreed on a course of action I will assume the party is taking that action. For example, if one person says ”I think we should go to the tavern first” and another person chimes in ”That works for me!” my next post will move the story forward to the tavern. If someone later says ”Wait, but I’m a teetotaler who has vowed never to enter a tavern,” we can always retcon.
Doors: Ah, the great bane of PBP adventurers everywhere. Once two people have agreed on which door to open I will assume the party checks it for traps, the person at the front of the agreed-upon marching order opens the door, and then everyone goes through it into the next room. (Unless there’s something you would see upon opening it that might change your mind about entering.) I will not wait for someone to specifically say “I am opening the door now” because for some reason that seems to really slow things down.
Stat Lines: To help me keep track of people’s bonuses I would like you all to have a stat line. For anyone who hasn’t used a stat line before, the information in the Race, Classes/Levels, and Gender boxes of your profile all appear underneath your name every time you post. Please put the following information in one of those boxes: Alignment, Race, Class, HP, AC, Saves, BAB, CMB, CMD, Initiative, Perception, Sense Motive, and any daily resources that need to be tracked. Here’s an example of what Jassminder’s stat line might look like.
Combat Statuses: During combat things change rapidly and stat lines don’t always keep up. Therefore at the end of every combat post I would like you to include a spoiler that lists your current HP, AC, saves, any effects you’re under as well as their duration, and any resources you need to track. Here’s what a mid-combat status from Jassminder might look like, taking a variety of different effects into account:
Status Example:
HP: 25/36
AC vs Boss: 24 (T: 17, FF: 21)
AC vs Mooks: 20 (T: 13, FF: 17)
Saves: F +4, R +4, W +6
Effects: Divine Favor (3/10 rounds), Smite Evil (Boss), Sickened (1 round)
Lay on Hands: 3/4
Smite Evil: 1/2
Spells Prepared:Divine Favor
