Kahwen

"The most important part appears to be the fact that the guards patrol at regular intervals. If we time things properly, we shouldn't have to deal with them. In fact, if we wait until just after they go their rounds we might be able to get in and get out before they do their next," Kahwen says.
"Hopefully, having the keys will help."
Rallas Linnderil
|
Aye...great minds do think alike, Kahwen. The quicker we get in and out...with minimal interference, the better. The sun isn't going to slow down rising just because we want it to...
Granny Cheechatkae
|
"Did you get close enough to check for magic?" Granny asks. It's expensive to set up, but you can cover an area with invisibility purge or dimensional anchor. I'd like to know if walking in will disable invisibility, or whether we can teleport anyone out if we need to. Those prisoners might be hurt too badly to walk out on their own."
Rallas Linnderil
|
No, unfortunately. I should have but didn't want to run the risk of discovery. I can make a trial run before we do..I can detect auras.
Granny Cheechatkae
|
"Only if it wouldn't cause you any trouble." Granny smiles at Rallas' suggestion. "Otherwise, one of us might be able to check for magic on the way in. I'm sure we're all used to improvising when something like that comes up."
Suddenly remembering something, Granny perks up. "Before I forget again, I have a few spells for everyone. One will keep anyone from tracking us, even if the next patrol that comes by has bloodhounds. One might let me move a bit quicker, and help others follow." She pauses before adding "...wish we had time to stash some of my equipment on the ship, but that can't be helped now. One for my health, and another to keep my senses sharp."
"Kahwen, would you like a Heroism spell?" She pulls out a wand and waggles it. "I also have three casts of Mage Armor if the frontliners want it, in case there are ghostly types in there."

"I'm no hero, Granny but I'll take any spell that will help us," Kahwen replies.
"And I may be able to carry some stuff for you, if you like. My pockets are deeper than they seem," he says and stuffs his hands in until he's contorted in what looks like an uncomfortable manner with his whole arms in the pockets.

"That may... wait a moment, please." Granny shuffles her own backpack off and peers inside. "I have a fair amount of space in here, but it's approaching the weight limit."
She pulls out a large bag of birdseed and some trail rations, moves a waterskin into a side pouch and straps a wayfinder to her belt. Then, gauging the space a little more, pulls out a bedroll and comfy-looking blanket, laying them aside. "Okay, if you can take my Sunday best, I think I can make this work." She hands Kahwen a folded set of nice clothing and matching jewelry. 12 lbs, or 19 if you can handle two sets of clothing.
She stands up and adjusts her shawl, which shimmers and reveals itself to be an obsidian-black breastplate. "Now, could someone please help me get this off and stashed in my haversack?"

I have an idea. Let me ahead alone and see if there are any magical wards where we want to go. That way, I can wave the rest up if the way is clear. And if I should get caught, it's only me they have...you can finish the mission. Rallas offers as he gets out his wands to ward himself for the mission.

Kahwen carefully takes Cheechatkae's clothes and slips them into one pocket, taking extra precautions to avoid rumpling or wrinkling them.
He then stands around awkwardly as everyone else goes about their preparations.
"At least if you get captured we know where you'll be and we're going there, anyway, Friend Rallas," he quips.
He also makes sure Rallas has the keys. The man can do his scouting and open the door for them, then.
"May I suggest we wait for the guards to do their round past the entrance and then start. That will give them time to get away from there but maximize the time we have inside. We should also follow behind them so it is longer between when they get to a certain point and when we are there."
Granny Cheechatkae
|
"If we're doing it that way, I should probably try something first."
"This morning, the wind offered to give me glimpses of where it can blow. You said the prison had windows?" She waits for a nod before continuing. "If there's somewhere safe within about six hundred and fifty feet of the window, I can ask for a peek inside. If we take a walk around and check a few different windows, I can probably get a good idea of the layout."
"Unfortunately, I think the glimpses would register as scrying, so if the prison had a ward up against that they might know someone was getting nosy. The hallow spell can't support that particular detection spell, though, so it's more than likely fine."
"Also, I never got an answer on the mage armor. Kahwen, Rallas, Trokkus, do you want it? Jory, of course, has his own wand, which I'm happy to use on you if you need me to."
Rallas Linnderil
|
I'll sneak in and see if there are any magic wards. I can differentiate between them...but just knowing there are some there is better than nothing. I'll wave you forward when I get in position to make entry. Rallas says before heading out, not making a sound as he goes.
i'm good for mage armour...got shield up...
Rallas sneaks forward, eyes and ears straining for anything that might endanger the mission.

I put Rallas and Kahwen on the map
The key stolen from the guard easily opens the door to the ill prison and no strange effects happen as it's open. The party didn't find any traps on the door.
Kahwen and Rallas see nothing in the "first room" ahead but hear quiet whistling coming from the left of the map
It's "Common" tongue if that's a thing for whistling.
Granny Cheechatkae

Before they took off, Granny taps Kahwen with her wand. Feeling the missing weight of her own armor, she also taps herself.
I think Rallas was checking for magic first?
Once Granny is given the all-clear (from a distance), she asks the spirits for a peek into the corner window.
"Wind Sight" (su) ability from the wind shaman (wandering) spirit. 1r clairvoyance, placing the sensor above the window on the inside.
After a quick peek in, she makes a circuit of the prison, doing the same for the other windows.
Plan and crunch in discussion thread.
She describes what she saw with those who'd stayed behind, then uses one of her scrolls of Invisibility and heads for the door.

After her invigorating early-morning jog (got to stay young!) around the building, Granny sketches out what she could see of the interior. "I didn't see anyone we were sent for, but I only had a few seconds to look. They might have moved the condemned already."
She points to the unknown area just northeast of the front door. "I couldn't see this area, but that room looks like the warden's office. It might connect to the cells, but I imagine the only access is around to the left."
I only saw one group of people, gaming just left of the entry door. Estienne is with them. I didn't see anybody else outside of the cells. There's ways to hide from divinations, though, or they could just be invisible. Or in that closed-off room to the west. Do be careful, everyone. I'd hate for anyone to get hurt here."
Before approaching the building, Granny uses one of her scrolls of see invisibility (the one she'd forgotten about, stuck to a half-melted candle.) It seems strange that they wouldn't have anyone directly watching the prisoners.

Rallas fumbles with the lock but isn't able to get it open.
Jory easily slips behind the other Pathfinders.
I'm going to assume Kawhen tries. It's not trapped

I'm going to assume you go through the drawers. You find a note in common. Posted above on slide 2
