Haha, all good :D Last time my magus played she was the one rolling hot and I've been expecting the RNG Gods to balance things out eventually.

With that mission/skill challenge behind you I can say you all were remarkably successful there. I think with circumstance bonuses from strategies, spells, and resource uses you essentially had a 'net' single failure across 36 skill checks :P Well done!
This is also a solid time to hand out some Hero Points. At the moment I am going to dispense one to Moonlight for their invisible bravado and another to Zenith for repeatedly boldy diving directly amidst the undead even when their very plot-important albeit not here weapon wasn't always as effective as they'd hoped.
Zenith by redeux |
Terribly sorry-- its been nonstop today. I'll try to post before bed in 1-2 hours, otherwise will post first thing in morning

Remind me to learn Hammid some Necril after the game, cause frankly it’s an oversight that he isn’t currently fluent.
As an Uncommon language, is it a matter of getting that boon that connects him to one of the two home regions described in it’s entry, and then taking a week downtime to retrain?

Every living one of you (so everyone but the skeleton) needs to make me a DC 21 Will save (auditory, divine, emotion, fear, mental, necromancy tags)

The what in the who now?

I have >Counter Performance<???
If the GM is OK with this, Manny will gladly attempt.
Edit: It would help more if I could roll over a 5.
Zenith by redeux |
@Manny - From the GM side of the screen i've seen enough bards get crushed when failing counter performance that if you'd like to reroll it then feel free to use my campaign coin.
or we can save it for anyone who needs a reroll later. Your call

I certainly don’t know what your’e talking about. Clearly just a mistyped forum tag….
I also needed to double-check to confirm if that was a default class ability or a featup to you Manny if you wanna take Zenith’s offer. If hearing nothing before tomorrow AM EST will assume not and proceed

Should any of you want to try to Disable the haunt, it would involve either exorcising the spirits with Religion or Occultism or comforting them with Diplomacy. Either option mouse be performed within the room, is a 2-action (◆◆) activity, and has the verbal trait
Would Moonlight know whether a Heal spell would also be effective?
Zenith by redeux |
Botting Zenith Will v the haunt: 1d20 + 10 - 1 ⇒ (10) + 10 - 1 = 19
There we two Will saves involved there Zenith (sorry if unclear): first one v the wight's moan (which Manny successfully counter-performed), then a second vs the haunt. If you would like to re-roll that above w/ an HP or other ability let me know - otherwise you'll have taken the listed damage and be currently suffocating/holding your breath
Sorry I misread, Zenith will keep it. Thanks!

Unlike some haunts this one doesn’t have HP to be potentially put to rest that way, but if you expend a Heal as part of your Religion/Occultism check to Exorcise it you’ll get a Circumstance bonus.

I have the >Haste< spell. This would give you enough actions to Stride in, try to disable the haunt, and then Stride out before the haunt can mess with you.
But the spell is only a 30 ft range. So I can help you out next round.
Anjo Aroh |
No need to waste your Haste spell. A better way to approach this
Person A pushes person B into the Haunt area.
Person B performs the ritual and then steps out.

Perhaps misremembering, I had presumed the bonus was +2, and included that in my dice rolls so far. Adjust accordingly!

I am unsure how the rules would handle this without using the Ready action.
And too, it seems a little bit of a linear interpretation of how to run a mechanically turn-based yet narratively simultaneous Encounter Mode.
Do appreciate the creative thoughts though!
rainzax |
Is the 'skull' icon closest to the party meant to be the tossed wayfinder? Throwing that ahead (to illuminate further ahead) would take an Action, whihc would mean you couldn't do that and summon a creature this turn.
(Or is it meant to just indicate where the skull was created, prior to it then flying forwards?)
The latter - I get a little carried away with the narration.
Hammid's wayfinder is around his neck.
=)
Anjo Aroh |
Anjo is 35 feet from either mummy, so I thought the Frightened condition ended immediately.? Also, a crit save doesn't ignore the effect?
GM Zoomba |
Crit save does not ignore the effect, but I missed just how far away Anjo moved. He is no longer frightened (though that shot would still miss)
rainzax |
Players,
For the life of me I can't seem to wrap my head around the Poison rules during Encounter Mode. For example, if an injury poison says "Usage: held in 2 hands" and "Activate: ◆◆, Interact", and a character is currently wielding a 2-handed ranged weapon, what would be their sequence of action?
** spoiler omitted **
Is there a chance I accidentally poison myself?
Can you apply poison to the bolts way before combat? Like, beginning of the day?
It is really hard to find info on applying Poison during Encounter Mode that seems consistent.
Anyone know if applying a poison to crossbow bolts during Exploration Mode for later use during Encounter Mode is as straight forward as it appears?
That is, no chance of accidentally poisoning yourself, and the poison dose remains on the ammunition (which you can choose to load into your weapon as part of the same Interact actions to reload) until it is used, even if that means hours, days, or weeks?

Lovely PbP Games.
I am beginning a two week road trip tonight, anticipating for that time my posting to be spottier and lower quality. I am bringing internet with me, but my ability to move my token on the slideshow will be diminished, and I will most likely request some assistance there.
Cheers!
GM Zoomba |
Yes, I hope your trip goes great!
And, while we are at a bit of wrap-up and conclusion, you all have finished the final encounter of scenario 3-09!
As I said, some wrap-up still to play out, but soon we'll be continuing on to 3-14 "The Tomb Between Worlds". If for whatever reason things have changed and you/your character will not be continuing with us into the next scenario just let me know. For prep/purchasing between sessions reasons, you have all achieved all 10 treasure bundles (of a value appropriate to your respective levels) and 4 XP and 4 Reputation (I'll get actual chronicles out to you shortly too).

With Moonlight/rainzax traveling and a bit of work stuff for me this week, enjoy a few days of more relaxed RPing of how your crew is spending their week or two between parts (or just a break) and I plan to post the beginning of 3-14 this coming weekend.

@GM, so with the night goggles, is it that once you turn them on, they stay on and you have to use them for an hour straight?
Also, forgot to ask if Anjo is able to collect some herbs for his natural medicine in the morning before entering the portal?
GM Zoomba |
They always grant the Perception bonus (assuming you've invested them), but yes: once you activate the darkvision effect that lasts for 1 hour
And yes: he could have grabbed some herbs while the others were preparing spells/doing last minute shopping.
GM Zoomba |
So 'North' for this map is technically to the right; in order to better fit visually in Google Slides I rotated everything 90 degrees.
Not that important - just mentioning now in case I accidentally fail to adjust some descriptive text from the scenario later on!
Itka Biklest |
Apologies for being absent earlier. I had no idea today would be this busy!
Unless that "something" gives her a reason to do otherwise, Itka will cast Guidance on the folks she can see on her turn.
rainzax |
Disrupting Weapons is a touch spell, and only three PCs were adjacent to me at the time of casting, so I chose the two who didn’t already have a disrupting weapon, but would have chosen Anjo due to the nature of his attack routines, were he within range, or if I had the time to make a stride instead of a knowledge check.
