Onye rushes across the clearing to try and help is companions from getting ravaged by the fey. Daehalya's staff misses the Temagyr as it snarls and crouches low, though as she repositions herself the Temagyr strikes...

Here's the second Strike.
finesse weapon: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 1 + 2 = 15 damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 Flank.

In 2E there is no longer a +2 modifier to attacks but rather I take -2 off of the oppoenents AC for the attacks as they become flat-footed. While it generally does the same thing in the end this status condition can open up other avenues for abilities later on.

Nicholo's first attack hits hard as it severs a major artery in the fey, killing it in a single stroke. The 24 was a critical hit with flanking for 8 damage.

Turning on his heels Nicholo slashes at the second hound and misses. Rearing back the hound leaps on the tieflings shoulder and begins biting at his arm.

"We’re running out of time!" screeches Ezgara, watching the birds frightened by the booming cannon fire. “Bolan is coming. He must be now. It's what I would do. Gorgas soften fools up. Ezgara sneaks up behind. Kill them all while they're miserably mewling. Hee hee! How much clearer can the strategy be?"

He slips sideways through the trees and points at Nicky. "Hurry!" Verdant light shines over the tiefling, healing his wounds.

"Onye Dinta will protect Nicho--," he cuts off in his statement and growls as the remaining temagyr pulls the tiefling to the ground. He steps forward and thrusts his blade at the corrupted fey in retribution, but finds only shadow. "The Goddess of Eclipses finds your abuse of shadow despicable, gorga!" he chastises the fey as they try to consume his shadow.

While Ezgara calls upon the primal forces to bring Nicholo back from the brink of death, the amurrun thrusts with his flyssa blade at the shadowy hound and raises his kudu-hide shield defensively. "Onye Dinta is glad to see Nicholo is not dead!"

Nicky defends himself as best as he can, not wanting to stand up with the shadow biter so close.

@Onye- I didn't have your retributive Strike go off on that Crit as the 3 resistance wouldn't have mattered in that instance. That and you were also out of range of your strike back.

"Nicholo!

Odioki sees a new side of Ezgara when the old elf patches the wounded tiefling up.

Eager to kill this creature now, Odioki pulls out a coin and rubs it between his thumb and forefinger as he studies the temagyr.

He then fires his hand cannon at the creature, but his mind is still lost in his thoughts.

Daehalya gasps at the sudden violence, and the respite from death. In the north, death was often a solitary, quieter affair, and she's surprised that she's not more immured to it.

Unwilling to see any of her other companions fall, she quickly dashes around the tree and brings her staff down on the remaining gorgas. As she does, the color suddenly leaches out of her body, seeming to rush toward her staff, where it emerges in a burst of dawn-like light. In the meantime, her bleached body looks like it was carved from ice for a moment before all the color rushes back.

Nicholo delays to better defend himself as Daehalya absolutely smashes her staff into the fey's skull, ringing its bell as the hound runs away yelping in pain.

Looking out further into the clearing you notice something strange as the voices seem to carry across the expanse.

A shadowy line seems to cross the clearing here, beyond which the tall grasses look dark and colorless, like charcoal sketches of themselves. The dark line seems to be creeping close and closer towards you as the ritual begins to take effect.

A field of unstable reality created by the ritual tears tiny micro-portals between the planes. Though each is no bigger than a pinprick, enough of these wounds can have negative effects on living creatures.

DC 17 Arcana (trained) to will the Material Plane’s hold on the area back into firmness and disable the effect for 1 hour, or dispel magic (1st level; counteract DC 15) to end the effect permanently.

The amurrun hisses as he notices the shadowy effect upon the forest. "This corruption cannot be allowed, but Onye Dinta does not possess the understanding to stop this," he laments.

Odioki puts away his gun, concern on his face, having seen the encroaching tear between the planes.

"This can't be a good sign."

Odioki concentrates, rubbing a coin between the thumb and forefinger of each hand, and tries to slow the effect with his mind.

As Ezgara rambles on he produces a mason jar full of a pungent paste that smells vaguely of vinegar and mud. He smears the sticky stuff on his comrades' wounds. 2 10-min increments; he will Treat Wounds as long as allowed

Hey, Odioki? You got two more of those coins? That rubbing on the dead emperors thing seems to be working. It focuses the mind. You got a Nirmathian dead leader in your coin purse? Or any Ulfen coinage? Those Ulfen die all the time trying to kill Linorns and stuff.

He hopes to get a couple coins from Odioki and focus the holes in the world to congeal back together again.

"These? My granddad brought them from Lung Wa. Besides, it's got to be something special to you to have a little magic in it. What's in your pockets?"

Daehalya watches the rift with concern, eased only slightly by Odioki's mending. Perhaps this is why the goddess has brought her here?

She's ready to object to Ezgara's smearing, but the paste does seem to be working. A reminder there: You don't know everything, she thinks, knowing she needs to be better. She's sure her trip through the aiudara was for a reason, and she will find out what it was.

Not sure you would have time to complete both treat wounds as you know the ritual is started and you can hear the druids. I can see possibly one though.

Nicholo and Odioki are able to will the Material Planes hold on the shadowy effect long enough to not be hindered by it too greatly.

Ahead of you seven arches of gray-brown basalt loom around the center of the forest clearing. In the middle is a crude wooden altar carved with vines. A hogtied unicorn bleats deliriously upon the altar. Despite two lines of lit torches around the altar, shadows clog the area like thick mist.

Bolan has sent three of his rebel Oaksteward minions to prepare the Seven Arches for his sinister ritual. Having heard the battle the trio stand with magic cast upon their staves. "Let's deal with them quick. It will give the pison time to work its course on the Unicorn. Then we can break its horn and slay it with it to finish this."

The catfolk strides out of the shadows and moves around the outside of the arch to engage with the rebellious Oaksteward. "You threaten the tapestry of creation," he growls. "Onye Dinta must stop you." He thrusts his long, thin blade at the druid and raises his hide shield.

Odioki, who never imagined he would see a unicorn in real life, is mortified to find one being tied up and sacrificed!

He moves in with Onye Dinta and eyes up Oaksteward #2, hoping to exploit their vulnerabilites. He draws a broken lock from a pocket to represent the Oakstwards' betrayal of the people of Seven Arches.

@Odioki, the DC varies by the creatures level but I will certainly let you know the results.

Onye and Odioke rush the druids, though Onye's rapier misses as the druid blocks the blade with his staff. Odioki has a great flash of insight as he finds his own personal weakness against the druids. Crit Success, though they have no Weakness, Immunity, or Resistances. So Personal Antithesis for 3 it is.

Odioki's hand cannon cracks a small divet itno the ground as it barely misses the druid.

The druids move in to sweep Onye from the ground as they begin to beat him mercilessly with their magical staves.

Ezgara offers a bit of guidance, that is if one is willing enough to read between the lines. Nocholo slashes out with his blade but it is easily deflected by the druid's staff as it is knocked out of the way.

Daehalya manages to thump one of the druids right in between the shoulder blades with her staff as the druid loses his breath. Onye pierces the man's throat quickly taking him off the scene before healing himself and moving to safety. Odioki's hand cannon cracks twice into the night, removing several dead branches from the trees.

The pair of druids remain on Onye as one circles wide around the group. "It doesn't matter, the curse will remain!" They seem bolstered as the Unicorn cries out in pain, the pool of blood growing larger around it.

"Kill the pretenders! Erutaki: attend my genius strategy! Listen carefully. Shoot them in the throat!" With screeches full of hatred for these fallen druids, Ezgara pulls at his hair with his free hand as he lends Guidance to Odioki. Guidance

Ezgara cuts the unicorn free. Immediately upon release the unicorn rolls off of the altar and rolls to its feet on unsteady legs. Neighing the unicorn's eyes look wild and frantic with the orbs purple from the poison. Currently out of its mind and hallucinating the unicorn is unable to tell friend from foe.

Doubting his original plans, he goes with his gut instinct and attacks the Green Oaksteward instead of his original target.

Nicholo's makes a small cut on the druid's arm while Daehalya's staff knocks him out, bleeding out on the ground. Odioke reloads as his shot misses the remaining druid.

Onye bleeds out further as the Oaksteward tosses his staff to the ground. "This isn't worth losing my life over. I surrender." The druid holds her hands up in defeat.

The unicorn frantic and afraid stabs its horn at Ezgara as it gets to its hooves.

Ezgara grips his stomach, looking surprised all his guts are in place. He glares at the unicorn. "Friend of Donkey, are you? Know this, ass: Ezgara is anchored to the currents of stone! He has watched deserts trickle away grain by grain! He cannot be horned!"

He points his gnarled stick at Onye. "Now… bask in awe of his power."

He stabilizes the amurrun and then hisses at Nicholo. "Punish him! Kill the druid! Kill him!" Guidance, which you may use however you want.

The Druid smirks ruefully. “You’ll never understand. The curse is the world’s way of restoring the natural balance. If we had it our way, this curse would affect not only elves, but all who call themselves ‘civilized.’ Just look.” She points to the carnage all around—her fallen comrades and the unicorn blood upon the altar. “Do you really think any of us have a right to be here?”

Odioki lowers his gun, but still stands alert.

"Yes, we've walked through the portals and returned. Now we have questions. If anyone deserves to be here it's us."

Nicholo ignores Ezgara's exhortations and calms the unicorn:

The surrendering rebel Oaksteward looks up at you. "What now?" She asks dejectedly.

"Do you think you are any better, with what you are doing to that poor unicorn?" Daehalya asks the druid. "Even in my frozen home, we know of their pristine nature. Corrupting that is what led to this violence. If this is what Bolan has led you to, it's clear his faith has been corrupted. A dark druid indeed."

“We wanted to bring back the obnubilate curse, obviously!” She looks a little uncomfortable. “We didn’t want to kill a unicorn, of course. But it’s a small sacrifice in the long run...” She falls a bit silent as Ezgara calls for death.
