Will Save: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 Mav's flying ability comes from the Devolved boon, so it does not involve wings. During his turn he can make another will save roll because of his Mentalist's Bane ability.
Mentalist's Bane
OPERATIVE EXPLOIT
If you fail your Will saving throw against a mind-affecting effect with a duration of 1 round or more, you can attempt another saving throw against the effect 1 round later at the same DC. You get only one extra chance to save per effect.
Does one round later mean during his next turn, not his current one?
Will Save (Mentalist's Bane): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
| GM Zoomba |
So for Maverick:
1) save needed as the android cast the spell. He failed and is paralyzed
2) on his turn, he can spend the full action to attempt a new save -> and second save also looks to have failed
3) One round later, that exploit gives you another chance to break free. You can roll now for ease of PbP play, but even if successful that extra opportunity to ‘break free’ will be at the start of the android mage’s turn, so Maverick still is paralyzed for his turn this round.
4) and if that Mentalist’s Bane fails too, on each of Maverick’s turn he can still continue to spend a full-action to try and free himself of the effect
Make sense?

I'm not exactly a mermaid Rani replies as she rests. But that sounds rather cool. Thanks Azara.
So is there anything interesting in that datapad they dropped? And all this talk about the Fourth fixing the Drift ... wonder what that was all about?
| GM Zoomba |
The figures all do seem to have succumbed to their wounds.
The datapad is another story. There is some basic encryption on it, but not remotely of the caliber that can stop your group from breaking through. The tablet has a set of coordinates prominently flagged in its files, the location labelled as a Drift Beacon. Tracking details from the datapad shows repeated travel to and from the coordinate in over the last few weeks.
There's also a messaging app that contains numerous conversation threads. The conversations - both one-on-one and in group chats - are filled with lament and grief. All parties talking report tales of losses suffered from the Crash, from ruined home to family members and partners vanished in an instant. Throughout these conversations repeatedly bubble up with rage against Triune, who the conversers blame for causing the Drift Crisis. But the chats are also filled with hope and enthusiasm for the rise of some being referred to as 'Fragment'. the messages refer to him as a being they believe can complete the imperfect and ailing Triune, merging the god with something called 'the 4th' that will save Triune's life and repair the Drift to its original state.
The most recent message receive indicates the sender has “used the priest to access the first terminal; reconfiguration underway; power absorption to begin thereafter.”
Yith, Neroo, and Charli all can tell that the fervor and belief of those sending these messages is genuine, but there is no clear evidence for the basis of those beliefs in the conversation logs. You know that Triune themselves was once three different divinities before mergin together to form a new tripartite God, but the process through which that was able to occur has never been fully understood. And its potential replication is something you have no idea if is even possible.
Charli Poshkettle
|
"Someone is trying to hack Triune by grafting this 'Fragment' on them!" Charli, who has never been a Triunite, is nonetheless indignant. "I've always respected Triune - after all, Brigh, the Precurser, is a gnomish goddess. No one should be forcing her into union with a murdering cultist interloper!"
Rani Silvermist
|
Sooooo ... they think they can merge this Fourth with Triune and produce Quadune? Rani ponders. I think we're going to have to go to this Drift Beacon. But first, I suggest we secure this ship and check to see if Accordant is still aboard, or any of his crew survived, although I suspect the priest referred to is Accordant. Hope it's okay.
She smiles over to Azara and says cheekily . Wanna see me as a mermaid then. Complete with tail?

Intrigued, Neroo starts looking deeper but after a few seconds realized that her attempts are futile.
Guys, I’ve found an hidden password, but don’t sees to access anything on this datapad. Could be of use elsewhere… but first, we need to find the missing triunit. May be the logs of the ship computer will help us in some way.

Neroo and Maverick turn their attention to the Chronicler systems. The computers remain at least paritally intact, and records show that the ship was engaged in starship combat 30 hours ago, from a much more powerful vessel. The engines and communications systems have been heavily damaged and are currently nonfunctional. Records show that some initial repairs had begun being made by several people over the last day but they will need significantly more time and resources to complete.
Suddenly you hear a *clang* from above you! Several scuffling sounds echo, centered around a vent near the bridge's ceiling. Then the vent grate opens up and a purple moth-like creature squeezes tightly through the gap. As it emerges it spreads its wings and flutters while yelling out:
“Starfinders! Oh, thank goodness. I’m in desperate need of real heroes! Thank you for saving me from these horrible murderers. I’ve been hiding in the vents since they arrived."

Azara is ready to fight when he hears the approach of something through the vents. The ankh shaped blade that is his solar weapon is in his hand and he's reaching out for the song of the spheres.
He relaxes only a little when the person who comes out sends greetings rather than threats. They wouldn't be the first person to try to deceive Starfinders, after all.
"You know who, or at least what, we are. Who are you? A survivor, I assume? Can you tell us what happened? Do you know if there are any other attackers on the ship?"
| GM Zoomba |
"My name is Nainiimii," the creature says, wings fluttering at a rapid pace. "and I’m an acolyte for the church of Triune serving under Accordant-Contemplator-16. I was doing maintenance work on the engines when we were attacked. I tried to keep the Chronicler running but...”
Nainiimii looks down, her face suddenly mournful. “The fight was over quick, and then we were boarded. I was too scared to come out of hiding, but I could hear the battle. These people, they claimed we were worshipping an “incomplete god” and said Triune was to blame for the Drift Crisis. They tried to get my friends to join them in worshipping something called the 4th, but my friends refused. They took Accordant-Contemplator-16 and killed everyone else.”
Nainiimii’s antennae droop and she releases a shrill keening. After a few moments, she refocuses. “Most of them left, but these four stayed behind, so I had to stay hidden. But you’re here now! The great, civil-war-preventing heroes—the Starfinders! Please, you must save Accordant-Contemplator-16 from the clutches of those horrible people! I’m sure there must be some way to track them down using the things these ones have! I’ll help however I can.”
