The Hanging Bough Tavern lies on the southern outskirts of the Whispering Hollow and is run by Rhodan Vorl. Technically it sits beyond the Whispering Hollow and the road into the valley lies just beyond the door. All are welcome here, and none are refused. It is neutral ground and travelers often visit here.
Calaster enters the Hanging bough at his ease, taking the time to study the patrons as well as locating the nearest exit from the bar. He takes a seat on one of the free stools, orders a glass of wine and begins playing with one of his copper coins "Let's see what this day holds in store for me" he says with a winning grin on his face
Rhiannon can't remember the last time she entered a tavern and didn't go right for a corner she could set up in, but this was not the usual business. She got comfortably at a free table, drumming her fingers idly against the wood as she scoped out the area.
Before entering the tavern, Cyrioul spends time among the locals, learning about the local rumors surrounding the Whispering Hollow. , .
He then goes to the tavern, removing his gauntlets after striding through the door. He takes in the scene, trying to distinguish between the locals and the obvious visitors. He sits down the bar from the lithe elf, a few seats from he human woman, and orders dinner and whiskey if both are available.
- Saying "The God of Magic" is fine, but a bit impersonal. Do you have a preferred name?
- Related to the first, should we generally avoid inserting our own world creations into the story (people and places), and just let you fill in the details?

Thorin enters the inn a smile upon his face.
"two ales and whatever that gorgeous lady over there is having."
He called out to the barkeep, throwing a wink Rhiannon's way. He made his way to a table seat drumming his fingers along the top of it until his drinks were brought in. He drained the first ale quickly setting it aside after wiping his mouth.
"A fine day isnt it?" He said to no one in particular. He was evidently feeling quite gregarious today.

I can honestly say, mercenary background or not, I dont see Thorin as the... kill them all bloddthirsty this treasure is mine sort. Hells he might even be the 'oh look they are battling cave trolls and being overrun....charge!' sort. He would expect something for his troubles. If my idea of him being a mercenary is anything like my time in the army *lawls* I see this as more of a ...'hey we can get rich and never have to work again! lets do it! sort of mercenary group.
That being said. . . He would certainly no hesistate to return fire if the others wanted to go that route.
I'm willing to play nice and not peek at things meant for other players.
Then we'll stick to the forum posting. Please never ever ever peek under spoilers that don't have your name. It will make it that much more fun for everyone.

At the same time, how else might we "check in" with the overall state of the campaign? Is it even necessary to do so?
Do not fret, player communication will still be a thing.
The little things can be waived for this kind of free roaming expedition. You have fine cold weather gear.

Pretty ambitious, i guess. Losing that map was probably a big setback.
Sorry for the huge delay, the map has been remade from scratch since I couldn't remember by heart how everything looked. Your zones are all still unchanged so don't worry.
I've had a lot of stuff this week as well but I'll post this afternoon after I take care of the laundry and cleaning.
