Ok. Cool. Fendel is the only one we lost, right?
GM Redelia |
OK, team, I need to know how much you want me to push you in the right direction to get the plot relevant stuff here and move on to the next part. So you can answer that, here's the general adventure structure:
-the mines: these are sanctioned, and give two chronicle sheets, already completed
- the outpost: not sanctioned, so no chronicle sheet, but included in the seeker adventure since that is play everything. This is where you are now
-the next dungeon bit: sanctioned, gives the third chronicle sheet
-the story finish: also included in the last chronicle sheet.
There is a fourth chronicle sheet that you get for playing in seeker mode.
The reason I ask is that this outpost has a lot of rather uninteresting filler encounters. If you want to get the story relevant stuff, including any clues or evidence that will be helpful later, but mostly skip the fillers, I can push you in that direction. Or we can play more organically, expecting you'll walk into most of the filler encounters. I'm OK with either.
Ranalus |
Hmm... I have some cool new abilities that it might be fun to try out (like the Shades spell), so I'm not adverse to combat. But I would rather it be an actually challenging one. It's not in this character's nature to throw out spell slots just for the sake of feeling like he contributed, not if the fight is well in hand.
So I might say skip the trivial encounters but by all means please do retain any challenging ones.
Or, I'm fine doing everything.
Arcturus of Shelyn |
I'm fine skipping the fillers. Maybe not all of them. I don't want to miss out on chronicle items or boons, especially if they're not "always available" items.
Arush Al-Fasi |
Hey guys! I'm back, I've dealt with most of the most vital things that have accumulated over the two weeks of my absence, and I'm going back to the games (by the way, the retreat was amazing!). As I expected, there are several hundred messages waiting for me on the forum, which I will read smoothly. The deadline for returning to absolutely all games is Saturday. I hug everyone! See you in gameplay thread .)

There is no chronicle sheet for this dungeon, so absolutely nothing you can miss out on that impacts your rewards. I'll make sure you don't miss out on plot relevant things, like evidence who is responsible.
Actually, I don't think you can miss out on any items by not finding them when it's a module played in this weird half campaign mode way. This adventure just has lots of combats that appear to me to be present only for the purpose of gaining neede EXP if playing not in society.
Slash 916 |
I fall into the camp of trying out new abilities so I do not mind encountering the filler encounters. But I guess if others want to skip I can skip as well.
Arcturus of Shelyn |
Take your time to get better, Redalia. There's been no need to rush this game. I hope you get well soon!
Slash 916 |
I am leaving for a 2-week+ trip in the morning. I will bring a laptop and will be able to post some but there will be stretches where I will have no internet for 3or more days. So bot me as needed if I am slow to post.
Arcturus of Shelyn |
Just giving a heads up that I'm still here. How's everyone doing? Good, I hope!
Arush Al-Fasi |
I'm here, everything's fine. Other games continue as usual, so I'm on this site every day .)
GM Redelia |
Thank you so much for your patience, team.
I've been basically nonfunctional with anxiety about a medical procedure I'm having done tomorrow. Even posting that I can't post has felt like too much. I'm sorry.
In terms of moving forward, they've told me that recovery could take as long as 8 weeks, but that they generally tell people to take a week off work afterwards. I don't know when during that recovery I'll feel up to posting. I may even post for a while and then not. It's also quite possible I'll have extra time to post. IF you are content to wait, I'll come back as soon as I feel up to it, posting slowly/intermittently for a while, and then getting back to normal posting when I can.

Hey, Redalia,
If you want, I could finish up this scenario for you as GM.
I figured with your health issues, wrangling kiddos, and other responsibilities, I could get a load off your shoulders and help ya out.

I really appreciate the offer, and I will keep it in mind. I'm not completely better, but it's time to grit my teeth and push through the fatigue, I think. If I can't keep up after this at about a post every other day type pace, I will consider handing the game over. At that point, for me to continue would not be fair to all of you.
I really appreciate your patience with me, team. We're about done with this chapter of the adventure, which is the one that does not give a chronicle sheet. After that, we have one more chapter in Megator Facient, and then the final showdown. I think we will be done well before the end of the year.

Hmm. Arush looks thoughtfully at the gun. I've always preferred bows. I don't know anything about it.
Rolling a Nat 1 on a skill check doesn't mean automatic failure. You still got a total of 21. That's really good!
Arush Al-Fasi |
Yeah, I know. Maybe this will be enough, but also there is an obvious auto-leveling of skills DC in PFS. Tier 1-5: with 25 at knowledge local, you know who the main bandit in the city is, where his lair is and how often he goes to visit his mom. Tier 15+: with 25 at knowledge local you barely remember that Oppara is the capital of Taldor ))

I had offered to bring Arvanor to safety using my many travel options, but Arcturus waved off the idea here.
I didn't "wave off" the idea of bringing Arvanor to safety. I offered to do it as well, hence the post that one links to saying that "we'll take him off your hands". With how slow this game is going I just didn't want to roleplay, and thought others didn't want to waste the time, the whole trek back to the entrance and all that. I assumed we just led him out.
Ranalus |
I was offering three different Teleportation-type abilities to get it done really quickly IC, thereby not needing to waste time on the matter. You told me not to do it because you had it covered, despite lacking such capabilities. I didn't press the matter.
I was offering to step in and do one of the problem-solving things that my character is good at (he certainly isn't good at combat or Diplomacy). I was not expecting anything to be hand-waved, as the journey with an NPC could indeed be quite perilous. The two-and-a-half-week IRL hiatus after that point unfortunately did leave Arvanor in limbo with an unresolved fate.
I'm not looking for a fight here, I'm just saying what happened IC. I offered to bring Arvanor to safety, you told me not to, and then nothing happened with him. As far as we know he is still resting his head on a pack.
I would rather have solved the situation "on-screen" with my character's capabilities. You would rather have it solved "off-screen" for understandable reasons about pacing.
Slash 916 |
I am still here and catching up. Glad to see we are moving again.

Ok. Understood. I did assume it was all going to be resolved off-screen and I didn't want you wasting spell slots. I suppose we should have just roleplayed it out since we had the time. Sorry.
Well, on our way back to town to talk to the minister, let's get Arvanor and bring him back with us! ;)
GM Redelia |
OK, team. Based on how the adventure is written, that's the end other than a bit of narrating; you would get full rewards. The point of Megator Facent is to give more evidence and more chances to make the checks to figure out what is going on. If you as a team would prefer to still do the dungeon crawl, I can have the ministers ask you to go back and finish cleaning up the facilities used in the plot; otherwise they will send their forces to do so. Which would you prefer?
Slash 916 |
I like challenging combats so vote to clear IF we believe the fights are not too simple.
GM Redelia |
It's borderline. You have five level 14 characters, which should mean that CR 15 or lower isn't a big deal. There are two fights above that CR, both of which will not allow themselves to be talked out of fighting. However, I'm not so sure those fights will both be challenging for this party.
Ranalus |
What do you think, Redelia? I see that you are running Academy of Secrets for the next Gameday. Would you rather wrap this up?
This might be the last adventure for Ranalus, or maybe he will get to do Moonscar. I've played most (but not all) of the high-level PFS content. I kind of would like to do the last part so he can try out his new high-level abilities like Shades, but if you need to wrap this up then I understand.
GM Redelia |
I have a slight preference to end here, but that's because the story end is so satisfying, but not because I mind continuing to run this for you. After this big diplomatic encounter, to go back and do the dungeon crawl would seem a little anti-climactic. If you don't feel the same way or it doesn't bother you, we can certainly do the last dungeon.
Arcturus of Shelyn |
Aww. I'm kind of sad. I actually thought this game was going to go another few months. I'm all good with ending here, though.
Is there any possibility you could give us a quick rundown of what would have happened or what we encountered in the final dungeon?
This was a very exciting and though-provoking game. My heartfelt thanks to you all for a wonderful game! It was my first game with a level 12+ PC. Wow!
Thank you, Redelia, for a great game!
That gives a total of 58 on a DC 35 check.
Holy Cow!
GM Redelia |
OK, that sounds like a consensus. I'll tell the rest of the story later today.
I'll also work on reporting and chronicle sheets.
I believe you all qualify for the fourth sheet, so I need to know what you want to do. The text is:
Alkenstar Hero: When you earn this Chronicle sheet, you may choose to receive 3 XP, 6 Prestige Points, and 70,000 gp (1.5 XP, 3 Prestige Points, and 35,000 gp for characters using the slow track method of advancement). Alternatively, you may choose to gain no XP and gold, but you earn 2 Prestige Points (1 Prestige Point on slow track) and still qualify for all of the boons and items on this sheet.
Arcturus of Shelyn |
I'm going to go with the alternative.
Alternatively, you may choose to gain no XP and gold, but you earn 2 Prestige Points (1 Prestige Point on slow track) and still qualify for all of the boons and items on this sheet.
I'm going to just take the 2 pp. I don't want to level up too fast.
If any of you are wondering why there are 2 choices on the chronicle, here is the post from John Compton explaining the reason.
