”Screech think author was not nice person. Use captives for labor, that not right. She must be duergar, and was raiding dwarfie tombs.” Screech thinks out loud, almost like he doesn’t have an inner voice!

”Me wonder, if maybe dwarfies have problems like in Osirion when dead are disturbed, or maybe like what happened in Lastwall?”

You discuss the translation and its meaning, wondering if the duergars survived or not, as well as their slaves.

You leave their quarters into a long and wide corridor. It is lined with several sconces containing everburning torches, making this the most litten portion of the underground that you've been to.

To the east lies a large altar topped by a massive warhammer intricately carved out of stone. Ancient magic causes flames to flicker along the length of the warhammer, much like an everburning torch. From where you are you can see that altar contains carved symbols and phrases that could be read from closer distance. To the other side the corridor passes into natural caves where there is the path described in the journal.

To the south, there seems to be a large chamber.

Where to?

Yeah head into the room, it is roughly empty, some time ago the floor was cleared from any debris and in the corner, there is a chest and next to it a pile of clothing and other personal items.

Don Jurri steps closer to investigate chest when...

This is a discussion thread for 3-10 Delve the Pallid Depths run as part of Outpost V. The recruitment for that game is managed by the Outpost V spreadsheet and only players that sign up there, should post and dot to this campaign.

Few things about myself:
- I still see myself as a beginning GM, I will try to make the games fun for both you and myself.
- I will post once per workday and expect the same from you, I will try to post at least 1 during the weekend, but this is subject to other duties. There could be times when I end up posting more than 1-time per day, but I will not push the story faster than that.
- I expect this to be a nice and friendly game.

I will create a presentation, macro sheet, and RPG chronicles link later on for you to fill.

Before we all start the game we need to cover a few things:
- In the campaign header I added a couple of links:
- Slides - please head to slide 3 and provide an avatar for your PC, please make them round as bad guys and NPC's will have square ones.
- Macro sheet- please fill it in for the secret checks, it aids me getting your modifiers whenever I need them as well as rolls for initiative
- RPGChronicles - this I will use to generate the chronicles after the game, since the reporting happens via the Outpost reporting sheet, I will take information from there, please make sure that it is correct.

I am almost certain that you have enough glyphs to make everyone start with 2 hero points, but please say how many glyphs do you have.

Every 1,5-2 weeks I will be giving Hero Points, I try to track it in a presentation to remind myself as well as to serve as a tracking tool who got it and for what.

1-3. Filled in slide / macro sheet / RPGChronicles.

4. Have 4 glyphs to hand out, plus campaign coin.

5. I have Protective Mentor which isn't the best. Would give an additional 3 max hit points (so +13 max hp instead of default +10 map hp).

6. GM'ed 2-19 on another character, but haven't played it on Zenith

--------------

Excited for this! Will do a full and proper IC introduction when we get closer, but in the interim Zenith is a L4 gymnast swashbuckler with champion dedication.

Also @Rainzax I saw you switch away from your swashbuckler, hope that wasn't on my accord! Zenith would play great with or without another swashbuckler.

@GM
I am a 2-Glyph GM!
Will get my HW completed today or tomorrow or the weekend.
Both characters I am considering have participated in #2-19 Enter the Pallid Peak (one GM, one play).
Also: Hello!

@Tandang Boreas
To improve upon your Level Bump, so far you have the following options:

1) Zenith's Protective Mentor (bonus Hit Points)
2) Hammid's Worldly Mentor (bonus Perception / Initiative)
3) Don Jurri's Magical Mentor (bonus Spell Slot)
4) ????
5) ?????

@redeux
Hammid (my cleric) just recently came back from an adventure which I wasn't sure was going to finish on time (but we did). Don Jurri (my swashbuckler) was on deck as he was already and is currently available. That said, if you wanna get down to some double-swash derringdo-shenanegans, I am open to it! But yes, it does look like we "need" a cleric. I enjoy both characters equally, and if nobody "favorites" one over the other below, may end up leaving it to a 1d2 to decide...

Hello, everyone. GM Farol, I will take note of those instructions and will do the necessary adjustments. I do not have a GM glyph yet nor mentor boons to share. Also done with the Slides, Macros, and RPG Chronicles.

Hey @rainzax, it is great to have you at my table. I haven't seen neither your Don Jurri nor Hammid. Happy to meet more people from your family ;)

@Redeux! Awesome to be playing with you once again. The last time you played Zenith I was beginning my Gm'ing adventure, and now ... it is not going much better :P Kidding ;) awesome to see Zenith again, I wonder how they changed, have you played him that 3 levels or stuffed him with vitamins and GM chronicles?

It is pleasure to meet you @Frozen Frost, I don't think we played at one table but there always have to be that first time ;) I suggest you to update your profile tag (the ac, hp and saves) with the level bump +boons as well as macro sheet. @Rainzax, I'm good with either character! I was just worried that my playing a swashbuckler made you switch. A Cleric is always welcome, as is another flanking buddy.

@GM - they/them* :) . Ha, i'm sure you'll do great! Zenith has only player credit! I'm trying to do all of the season 3 metaplot on them which requires some careful planning. They just have the Qadira arc left for tier 1-4 metaplots. Zenith will look quite a bit different since last you saw them. Made heavy use of the lvl 1 rebuild. Different heritage (duskwalker), ancestry feat (ghost hunter), class feat (flying blade), and different preferred weapon (Starknife)! Their personality/motivation remains the same, and they still prefer to not spend the night in the same place twice in a row ;)

Don Julio, based on my experience playing a swashbuckler (in a game with GM Farol, no less), you should put your riposte roll in a spoiler.

That way it is there and ready when needed, without requiring the GM to have to pull it off your sheet, or wait for you.

Just a strong suggestion.

Ha! I'd rather Rainzax have it anyway :) Plus technically the promotional service award boon is still a hero point, just a special one that can be gifted for a reroll. So Zenith is 3/3 hero points atm.

I would recommend using all those hero points, let me assure you, you don't get extra gold for finishing the scenario with pockets filled with Hero Points ;)

===================

Regarding shields, disarm etc. I am leaning towards the interpretation that shield is strapped to your hand (unless we are talking about bucklers) as a result, you don't drop them when falling unconscious but also need an action to drop them. That leads me to believe that disarming a shield could work differently than disarming a weapon. However in this case the creature is undead and some of the equipment could be old, the move itself was cool so I rolled with it.

Radiant Oath

Fair, I didn't know if it would work or not, but was determined to try! Originally I typed OOC that Zenith would try to disarm the sword if the shield looks strapped. Then I remembered Zenith is 8 INT and has never disarmed before so it would be fitting for them to try to disarm a shield even if it was strapped and didn't work!

FWIW my interpretation on Shields:
At my tables if it is a specific magic shield then it is in their statblock. Pretty much all specific, magic steel shields (like sturdy shield) specify that they are held. Specific, magic bucklers generally specify they are strapped.

Of the non-magic shields, only bucklers specify they are strapped. Other non-magic shields (like steel shield, wooden shield, and tower shield) do not specify. There is some gm variance on whether a non magic, non buckler shield is held or strapped. I'm of the opinion they are held, since only bucklers specify, and because the magical counterparts specify the are held. But as you mention, this also means at my table if a PC goes unconscious then the shield is dropped

Don Jurri, would you mind breaking up that string of rolls somewhat?

It was eye-rendingly long, and all ran together. Also, I have heard it if one happens to be colorblind, the colors of the die roller make it even harder

Here is how I macro it for my swashbuckler

[ dice=+1 striking rapier]1d20+11[/dice]
[ dice=Piercing+precision]2d6+1+2[/dice] | [ dice=finisher]2d6[/dice] | [ dice=deadly]1d8[/dice]

Note, I leave either the precision damage on the rapier's damage, or the finisher. Breaking it up like this helps to see what is the finisher damage, in case you you miss. The | characters (hopefully) help sep

This ends up looking like this:

+1 striking rapier: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Piercing+precision: 2d6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (6, 3) + 1 + 2 = 12 | finisher: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4 | deadly: 1d8 ⇒ 4

Thanks for understanding!

Re: Don Jurri's strike

I think that the hero point was just missed. 6+11+1=18 to hit vs FF. And since Screech crit with 28 vs FF then Don Jurri probably should've hit.

If Don Jurri did in fact miss (but not crit miss) then the precision damage uses the same damage type as the weapon you're using. Meaning that it's possible no damage is dealt if there's some resistance. I mention this since this seems to be a less known caveat of precision damage that usually doesn't matter but comes up with confident finisher misses.

Yeah, that would be a hit, I retconned it. The truth is that I missed that a hero point was even used.

And yeah I would prefer to join hero point with all the bonuses, less likely that I miss it or make a math mistake ;) Adding numerals is hard!

Hey folks, As you most likely know, most scenarios have 3 fights. Well this is not one of them ;) The story is not over. The options that you have are:

- explore section 2 and 3 on the map
- Select one of the tunnels (white - safe, red - trapped) that should lead you closer to the tomb of the undead necromancer

Order of those does not really matter, so please express where would you like to go ;)

===============

I stopped giving HP as I wanted for you to use some, But I guess you want to finish the scenario with your pockets full of those :|

I shall give HP to Tandang, nicely done with that pool disable. Good move, nice use of Hero Point. If the fight would last longer the poison would make some heavy damage to you.
