Tanaterra Tibeth |

Tanaterra takes a deep breath, looking up at the woman for a few moments, before exhaling and nodding. "Apologies, ma'am. We were, perhaps, being somewhat overzealous. At this particular point in time, we do not have a warrant, nor any cause to believe there is immediate danger or harm to a person, such that would require a search and entry." Without waiting for a response, she pads over to the apprentice, her bare feet slapping on the cobbles, and reaches up to gently take his hands.
"Young man. You're going through a lot, and it's not fair. But it's part of my job to make it as fair as I can. You came to this place, searching for your master, for a reason. Please, let us know what that reason is."
Tanaterra's speech here is trying to serve a dual purpose; she's trying to get the apprentice to open up, but also trying to send a message (through the emphasized words to the shopkeeper) that if he thinks his master might be dead or dying in her shop, then that legally gives them probable cause for a non-paperwork-based search.
I'm going to assume a Diplomacy check is the way to go, here; I'll post a Deception check as well, for the sort of "send a coded message" idea; feel free to ignore if it's not needed.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Deception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Hero Point! Deception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

Marcellus Horax |

Marcellus frowns at the door and the woman, but is happy to let Tanaterra take the lead for the moment since she was doing such a nice job of trying to lead the apprentice into realizing he could possibly give them the probable cause they needed to enter the shop.
Even as she talked, the inventor wracked his brain for a legal loophole they might have available if they needed to just make entry anyway.

Greyjay |

Greyjay nods at Tanatarra's question. A good point. He considers for a moment, remaining silent and listening to the pulse of conflict - of battles, albeit of words rather than of swords or magic - to hear where to start looking for the party that might be responsible for this disappearance.
Using Glean Lore. Religion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10. Oof. Doubt that's enough.
Blood pulses in his head, the screams of the dying and the injured filling his ears. There will be no answers from the clash of the universe, not now.

Lazverinus |

Lazverinus nods as Tanaterra asks the boy.
[b]"Yeah, we wanna know all the details. We don't wanna throw to jail an innocent or commit a procedure fault."[/]
Aid Tanaterra?

Marcellus Horax |

suppose my thinking would maybe be helped by trying to recall any nuances of probable cause law that might help us get in if we can’t do it the diplomatic way
Lore:Legal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
if applicable
