Calm down, Xila. We’ll help you find Babs. Katniss comforts Xila while trying to figure out what happened to Babs.

There could only be two things that happened to Babs. One is she escaped the enclosure and got lost and the other is she was stolen by whoever left these footprints and destroyed the fence. But why do I have this eerie feeling that it’s the latter.

I did assume that Babs was a girl. Haha!

Katniss’ instincts are telling her to follow the footprints as it might lead them to the whereabouts of Babs. She calls Kupa and the two try to track down the mysterious creature that left these marks.

"One!?!" a baffled, incredulous expression "We have recovered 6d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 5, 3, 1, 4) = 16 out of 17! That should be sufficient!"

Xila probably let's the hobgoblin have it. Chuck takes it in stride. After all, she is the one paying. Stowing his polearm, he draws his bow once more, and prepares to follow Katniss anyway.

"We're with you Katniss. This had seemed like easy money until now! I suppose we'd better finish the job!"

Cal draws his bastard sword and follows along.

Shanti looks concerned at Xila's outburst. "We must find the young one. Fear not, we shall go at once. Lead on, Katniss."

As a precaution, Shanti pulls out her hand crossbow and loads it.

Grace-13 nods and follows along with the others, sword drawn.

We won't leave you behind, Babs

Her eyes light up as you give your offer to help find Babs but still with tears flowing. ”Yes, please. Please find Babs. She is too young, she maybe is lost right now and crying. Or maybe…” she now has a grim thought about Babs. ”No! Quick, go and find her. I will stay behind here while you search so that no more of the clutch goes missing. I will reward you the gold as promised, yes, if you return with Babs. Please find her. Oh, here,” she rummages in her bag and gives you two minor healing potions and two lesser eagle-eye elixirs. ”Take and bring these, would be helpful in your search.”

She heads for the tracks Katniss found and returns a few minutes after. ”The tracks head west, go there, it leads into a wooded valley. Oh, poor Babs! She must be taken by a dinosaur thief! No!” she wonders aloud. ”Maybe that thief has also taken other dinosaurs!” she has many unfounded thoughts in her mind. ”If you find other dinosaurs, bring them back to me. I will help them reunite with their herds too.” Xila instructs you, now more worried than ever.

You can count on us, Xila. We’ll bring back Babs, and possibly other dinosaurs too!

Katniss and the team head west, guided by the thief’s footsteps. As they approach the wooded valley, Katniss senses danger.

Whoever stole the dinosaur should not be taken lightly.

She equips her longbow and arrow, and continued to track the dinosaur thief.

”If you find other prisoners, bring them back to me..."

That is what our warmongering hero heard, anyway, even as it amounts to much the same.

He salutes the druid "You got it captain: Bring 'em in alive" and follows Everdream, keeping his eye peeled for unexpected ambush!

Scout

With the rest of the herd secure, the only stegosaurus still in danger is Babs. The creature that opened the enclosure did so to cause a distraction, allowing it to kidnap the smallest hatchling and skulk into the wilderness before anyone noticed the missing dinosaur.

Katniss takes the lead to follow the footprint trail she found. Everyone follows as she tracks the trail but she loses it somewhere. As you travel through the wilderness for two hours for just a one mile distance, you eventually find the path that leads to the dinosaur thief because you find that Babs left plenty of broken branches, trampled undergrowth, and churned mud along the trail, which is no small amount of trouble to the dinosaur thief.

The path leads you to a hill in which the ground is drier as you ascend. When you are within sight of the top of the hill, you find gruesome decorations framing the lair’s entrance. Bones and body parts of various animals hang from ropes and sinew in front of crude paintings of dried blood depicting the skeletons of mammoths and dinosaurs.

Tempest starts moving along the edge of the cliff face to the left, intending to swing around and check out that plateau.

He also listens for the sound of a stegosaurus in distress.

Keeping her hand crossbow trained ahead, Shanti moves towards what appears to be a cave.

Katniss uses her survival ability, survey wildlife, to study the details of the area in an attempt determine the presence of nearby creatures.

As ever, Cal wanders around at the front of the group. He looks for danger and has his bastard sword ready.

Currently Searching

As the party ascends to the top of the slope, Katniss is so focused on surveying the place and may have not recognized the young dinosaur and gets past Babs. She does not notice Babs tightly lashed to a massive wooden stake a short distance west, toward the hill’s face. Though the hatchling is unharmed, she is frightened. She strains against her restraints.

”UNGGGHHHH!!!” she says with throaty cries when she sees Katniss but to no avail.

And to her surprise, Katniss finds himself next to Glorzia and the two other young dinosaurs which she recently captured and trained to fight with her.

”SURPRISEEEE!!!” Glorzia growls. ”How dare you come into my place?! Glorzia does not want uninvited visitors!” she shouts at Katniss.

Clearly, whatever narrative echoing through his skull that drives his actions is... different than how others might perceive the situation...

And of all the words Chuck has said, none makes sense to Glorzia except for the word thieves. She is too stupid to understand the rhetoric implication of Chuck's message to her and she isn't get intimidated at all.

"Thieves, you say? Ha! You all are thieves, trying to rob me my pets! How dare you?!" she growls back to Chuck.

Katniss was able to dodge Glorzia’s first attack, however, the second attack caught her off guard. The venomous jaw attack from Yellow also slowed her down. She had no choice but to drink one minor healing potion. Due to the close distance of the enemy, she decides to switch her longbow with her elven curve blade.

You have no right to steal and manipulate these creatures! They have feelings and families too! The elven gods shall punish you for all your actions against morality!

Katniss, feeling revitalized and ready to counterattack, wields the blade on her left hand.

Yellow bites Katniss, turns around and bites Callistos as well.

Shanti gives the final blow to Glorzia with her graceful yet powerful strikes. Glorzia falls to the ground lifeless with blood flowing out from her gash.

Yellow runs away through everyone out of fear that she will be next and retreats into the nearby rock crevice and no longer attacks any of you.

Now that Glorzia is defeated, you rescue Babs but she is afraid.

You can calm Babs and coax Yellow to get out of the rock crevice with DC 15 Nature checks.

Shanti crosses over to the injured Katniss. Pulling out a dagger, she makes a quick incision and begins treating Katniss' injuries.

"Hmm... oops..."

Now that's interesting.

Shanti risks doing a quick incision to let some blood out on one of Katniss' wounds but it did not go well.

Grace-13 quickly mixes up a minor elixir of life and hands it to Katniss. ”This should help”

Cal looks at the group.

"We should head back, get paid and then find a bar for the evening. I reckon Hillcross could get lively." He smiles and helps Katniss to her feet.

Tempest tries to coax Yellow out with a piece of dried fish.

Yellow finds the piece of dried fish interesting, takes a bite of it and follows Tempest out of the rock crevice.

Anyone who would like to calm Babs?

Tempest keeps feeding the compsognathus dried fish until it's stuffed and goes to sleep

He then tries calming Babs

It goes as well as can be expected

The potion Grace gave relieved her from her fatal wounds. Callistos helped her stand on her feet. She also reaches out to the minor elixir potion Xila gave her and drinks it to further heal her wounds.

Thank you Grace and Cal. But, there is something I must do first.

She moves towards the direction of Babs. She gently pats its head and caresses its body.

You can calm down now my darling. You are now safe. You’ll meet your family and friends very soon.

She smiles at the small dinosaur and calms it down.

Tempest tries to calm Babs but she seems elusive at him. Katniss makes her way to calm her after she healed herself with the potions. Babs eventually calms down and rubs her head on Katniss. Having able to defeat Glorzia and manage to take care of the dinosaurs, you all return back to Xila.

Thanks to your dedication and bravery, Xila can now reunite the wayward clutch with their family in the rest of the valley. She is very happy to see Babs and gives her a tight hug. She also notices you rescued another dinosaur in which she says she will take care of it as well.

”I hope you would come with me and tag along to return this clutch.” she says and you join and witness a heartwarming reunion.

”For this one,” looking at Yellow that now always follows her, ”I assures you that while finding this little dinosaur’s pack may take longer, I am certain I’ll be able to return her to her family.” she syas.

After the reunion, Xila bids you farewell and wishes you luck on your future adventures.

Yeah .... it can't come home with me Tempest replies as he hands the little dinosaur off to Xila. He stays to watch the reunion then heds off to find a river or pond or something to nap in - unless someone comes up with a better suggestion.

Witnessing the reunion warmed Katniss’ heart. This was indeed a priceless reward, captured in her memory and will live on through her journey.

I guess my job here is done. I will be heading back home to rest and fully heal my wounds. See you guys around. C’mon Kupa, let’s go!

She bids farewell to everyone and heads south towards the elven forest.
