Will need a Stealth check from Gottfried, with a +10 bonus for the crowd, to follow the Reeve and her crew, and probably a Perception check from him. If you want to talk the woman into getting revenge from her drunk husband, you will need a -10 Leadership or Intimidate test. You can take matters in your own hands too, and delivers some rough treatment.
The crowd seem to slowly lose any interest, as nothing unexpected happens, and it thins until a handful of lazy onlookers remain.

Well why stop a trend? If nobody moves us forward I’ll get a post up in a day or so

DM Lil" Eschie |

The apprentice looks at Udo, and says jokingly
Hey, mind your step. Its not a time to sleepwalk, it's only mid day.
His eyes lose their focus, and his voice becomes graver, more solemn
I do hope you will find your true calling. Hear them caw.
Then he comes back to his senses, and his voices again shows his young age, and he seems happy to chat
You really got talent as a stonemason, Udo. That strike with the hammer was impressive.

Udo Steinspalter |

Udo almost smiles, then steps aback at the apprentice's words...
The Ravens... He speaks of Ravens!
As the man's words turn to stonework , he nods awkwardly;
"Aye... tho' it could have been a lucky swing..."
Udo's idle chatter trails off as he focusses on the cawing crow;
"S-Sorry. I need to catch up with my companions. Good luck with both stone and chisel."

Konrad Brandt |

Will post soon, I'm here!

Imrik Farstrider |

Imrik is leaving the humans to deal with their own issues.

Konrad Brandt |

Charm Crowd: 1d100 ⇒ 32
"Nothing to see here! Like we said, nothing here except catching a cold. Head on home. Go on now. If there was anything exciting there'd be a whole lot more noise than this. Off you go now, off you go!" He said, while making eye contact with the abused woman, subtly motioning for her to stay.
Once he had a moment to talk to her without any of the crowd here, he said:
Charm Woman: 1d100 ⇒ 8
"We understand." Konrad said. "Come, walk with us. We'll protect you while the monster sleeps in an alcohol fueled stupor. With a blade, you can finish it by your own hands. Or we can wake him and give him a proper scare. It's up to you on how you want to handle this."

DM Lil" Eschie |

The crowd parts its ways, and the woman listens to Konrad's words
She seems at first receptive to his words, and then a little frightened.
She looks at the young one she cradles in her arms, and seems to find her resolve.
Guided by Konrad and Felver, followed by Udo, Imrik and Brunhilde, she enters the barn.
I don't want to kill him. I just want him to go away and never come back. But the trouble is, I will never be sure he won't come back... unless I kill him. How can you scare him? Can you beat him so bad he won't be able to hit me? I want my daughter to live in a home where she doesn't have to fear her own father, you understand?
..........................................................................
Gottfried: still need a normal (+0) Stealth roll
The group with the Reeve enters a big, solid barn, and someone closes the door right behind them.
Gottfried can't be sure if he has been spotted or not...

Konrad Brandt |

Konrad glanced at Gottfried. "How you want to do this? We can cripple him, for sure. Make it so he can't walk again." The duelist mused. "Or just threaten to remove his manhood if he shows his face in town again. Few would risk that." He offered, thinking as he talked. "Suppose killing him would be somewhat tricky, as we'd have to dump the body. That is, unless we claim self defense? Yeah...that could work. Say that we brought her and the little one to bring him home. He got physical. Tried to assault us, so we defended ourselves. Nice and legal, right?"

![]() |

Felver looks at the man sleeping and says the enemy of this sort never rests nor sleeps. It is his weakness which is his enemy and he takes that weakness out upon you. There is no guarantee that should we tie him up and march him out of town he would not return. Many laws now support this man. However, if you pay me a coin I will remove this outfit and become something more then a guard. I will become justice. And in that name I will kill him after I slap him awake until I am satisfied and hand him a blade. Alternately you may also hand Konrad a coin and he may also do this for you. Either of us I think will do it for a low price.

Gottfried Daimler |

The street kid, well out of the mean streets, tries to shadow his marks in a place where he has neither hustle, nor bustle to mask his efforts...
Made it about 10 posts earlier... but if you need a 2nd roll? Stealth (AGL) 28: 1d100 ⇒ 49
Can I burn a fortune point?

Konrad Brandt |

Konrad chuckled. "I'm more into legal duels. And for that I'd happily kill the man for a home cooked meal." He said with a smile. "It's pretty simple really. Trial by combat is quite civilized. You challenge him to a duel. I act as you surrogate in this. We throw him a knife. I run him through, and he bleeds to death, with my friend here being our legal witness." He motioned toward Felver. "Or give him his coin and he can do it less civilly. So really, it comes down to whether you want to give him a quick death from my rapier with the veneer of civilization, or you want him to beat him to death."

DM Lil" Eschie |

Gottfried
Perception roll: 1d100 ⇒ 78
As far as Gottfried can tell, he hasn't been spotted, even if his trailing skills were rusty.
Now its time for the street kid to decide how much risks he want to take: will he rather try to get near the barn, to listen at the door, maybe find another way in? Will he be more careful and find back his friends?
Gottfried: You can try a last Stealth roll at +0 (but the people inside the barn will get a -10 to Perception roll) to get close to the barn, then a Perception roll (with -10) to listen. You can try a +0 Perception roll first to find a crack in the walls, and a Stealth check +0 to get close. Finally, you can go back to your friends, without any roll needed
..........................................................................
Rest of the team
Konrad see a flash of anger in the woman's eyes, all the pain and sadness she had to get throught, and he knows his words hit the right point.
Her voice is full of cold resolve.
I don't have a coin. He drinks all our money. But I can cook for you. And you can take his coins, if he has still any, when the deed is done. Just make him suffer a bit before the end.
She enters the barn at a quick pace, eager to see the end of her nightmares, expecting at least Felver and Konrad to follow.

Nice touch!

Konrad Brandt |

”In a duel.” Konrad said. ”And obviously I don’t believe in such. Death comes for us all and it can come from anything. If this were true then I could be as reckless as I wanted for anything but a duel!”

Udo Steinspalter |

Udo holds his gaze on the two men, then nods slowly;
"I only ask. Believe or not you should ware the portents..."

DM Lil" Eschie |

Still unloading boxes after moving homes, but will post quickly now
The man from the barn seems to emerge from his stupor, barely , and gets up (after a few tries). His bad instincts and hot temper get the better of his judgment, as he vomit quite a list of insults to his wife, accusing her of cheating him with other men_The three of you, you suppose. He then details the atrocities he will do to her, before threatening her with death.
He quickly unsheath a big, sharp hunting knife, and slashes at the air.
Anyone in the barn can roll an Intuition test, with a +10 bonus for Felver and Konrad
Come one, all of you or one by one. I'll show you what a real man can do, the gods be damned...

Imrik 51: 1d100 ⇒ 86

DM Lil" Eschie |

You or anyone else. You need a lesson, stealin" an honest, hard working man's wife!

Konrad Brandt |

Konrad shrugged. He'd get to duel someone eventually. Or perhaps he'd change careers. Avoid his dooming completely. Whichever paid best, he supposed. But at the moment it seemed like this was going to be a good old fashioned pit fight. He motioned for Felver to go on.

Initiative Felder: 1d10 + 34 ⇒ (1) + 34 = 35
Initiative bully, Drunk: 1d10 + 30 - 5 ⇒ (5) + 30 - 5 = 30
Bully defense, Drunk (35): 1d100 ⇒ 60 SL -3 (Felver hits with +0 SL)
Bully Attack, Drunk (35): 1d100 ⇒ 35 SL 0
Felder strikes first, his axe passing through the drunkard defense easily and hitting his head.
He has no armor, just his thick skull, obviously, but Felver's blow didn't hit as hard as he would have like Felver does 1+4 Weapon+3 Str dmg+0 from his SL, +3 from foe's SL; - 4 Tough from his foe, total 7 dmg
The drunkard is still standing, aiming his knife at the pit fighter's belly Hit SL 0, Location body
@Felver: need a defense roll from you (WS test) to parry

Felver easily counters the knife attack +1 advantage, so +10 to the roll, and delivers another swift blow SL +2 with Advantage, Dmg: 1d10 + 4 + 3 + 2 - 2 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 3 + 2 - 2 - 4 = 5... but the seasoned warrior is surprised when the man's knife rides his axe's shaft and cuts deeply in his left hand.
The drunk bully is barely standing, 0 Wounds but Felver, to his shock, sees one of his finger laying on the ground, and blood on his left hand. He has an hard time focusing on the fight, as the hay seems to dring feverishly his blood... and his opponent laughs!
That will teach you not to point fingers to hard working men enjoying some rest after a few drinks..
Either there is a god for drunk men, or there is something even more sinister happening!
Defense (35): 1d100 ⇒ 22 Critical! SL 2. Crit-arm: 1d100 ⇒ 90 Cleft hand critical: Lose one finger, Bleed 2 wound per round, Stun 1 round. Take 2+3+2=7 dmg
Sorry for this unexpected result, Felver. You can use a Fate point to avoid the Critical, taking no damage.

DM Lil" Eschie |

@Felver: Unfortunatly, if you can use a Fate point to avoid getting critically hit, you can't use one to inflict a Critical hit "out of the blue". You can roll a new attack and defense. Remember you have +1 Advantage (+10 to both attack and defense)
For the onlookers, it seems for a few seconds that Felver's fingers were fewer.
But he manages, at the last moment, to dodge the worst of the blow, getting "only" a minor cut on his hand.
Tis barely a scratch!
says with relief the woman Felver fights for. Her husband is the one receiving quite the beating now.
Udo senses the drunkard is near to the grave, and Konrad appreciate the fight, who wasn't so one-sided he would have believed at first. The man, even drunk, knows how to hold a knife, and how to use it. His stubborness won't carry him much longer, anyway.
drunk defense 35 : 1d100 ⇒ 14 SL +2
drunk attack 35 : 1d100 ⇒ 26 SL +1
Meanwhile, Gottfried hurries back to the barn, doing his best not to be trailed. It doesn't seem to be the case, as far as he can see. Sure, here and there villagers spot him, as the little town lives in alarm and people wander into the streets, hoping to get reassuring news about the Dullahan. There is fear on the faces of the villagers, but no one looks twice at somebody who seems to have an head above his shoulders.

Gottfried Daimler |

Konrad Brandt |

"Come on, pitfighter. Take him down. Or is he going to have to fight me next?" Konrad said, his hand resting on his sword.

DM Lil" Eschie |

Gottfried
You hear nothing intelligible inside the barn, even if you hear many voices, with one leading the discussion. That's probably the Reeve.
As you move around, you surprise yourself with how silent you are.
Duel
Felver presses the attack, hoping to bring a bloody end to the fight. He feints an high blow, and lowers the axe toward the drunk man's leg at the last second
Base Melee 51, with +1 Advantage 61; Attack SL 1, target 95 Right leg
Dmg: 1d10 + 4 + 3 + 1 - 2 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 3 + 1 - 2 - 4 = 3
His axe hits, and the man falls on the ground, his tendon slashed and torn from the bone, mortally wounded, without having been able to retaliate
Critical wound: 1d100 ⇒ 75
His widow-to-be held her hands on her pale face, and seems to be in shock.

![]() |

Felver looks and ensures the man is dead and says a prayer to Morr for him placing two coins he knows the woman cannot afford over his eyes since he is dead. He turns to Konrad and says I will stay here. Go outside with the widow and bring the captain of the guard so you and the widow outside can witness this duel and I can be cleared of wrong doing

Udo Steinspalter |

Udo nods as Felver pays proper respect to Morr.
"Another to be planted in The Garden."

Konrad Brandt |

Konrad shrugged. "Well. He was drunk, armed, and attached a member of the watch. Legally, all seems to be in order." He said. "Frau, if you would come with me, you are safe now and have nothing to worry about. I'll need to report this. Just remember, when the Captain asks..."
Konrad proceeded to coach the widow, so that they would all have their stories straight when the inevitable investigation happened.

Gottfried Daimler |

Leaving time for the other characters to react, as I don't want to handle a PC
If this doesn't kick things on, let me know if you want something more from me

DM Lil" Eschie |

With the recently widowed, Konrad goes to the captain of the guards, who should be in his small guard post near the entrance of the town.
She seems to be a little in shock at first, but as they walk through the streets, she regains her composure.
The deed is done. The deed is done, now. A new life begins. I should have thanked your friend properly, but it wasn't the time or the place.

You all feel suddenly observed, wherever you are, and you are quite sure whatever spies on you isn't natural. How you know that, you have no idea. Your stomach knots for a few seconds, leaving you in a state of uneasiness.
Gottfried
You see the door of the barn you were spying on opening, and the stonemason gets out. He doesn't seem suspicious, and you are pretty certain he didn't spot you. He turns toward the town, and looks on the buildings, his eyes lingering sometimes on some of the houses
Gottfried ( 30): 1d100 ⇒ 90
Unfortunatly, you don't know which buildings he was looking at.

Gottfried Daimler |

I suck as a spy :)
Well hidden, the young man has decided to camp in his current location till the main parties all leave.

Konrad Brandt |

”Not until we know for certain. Murdering someone due to a bad feeling won’t be a good look.” Konrad said, his own blade in hand. ”Lets go investigate.”
