Sorry I haven't posted, I've been feeling really crappy the last couple days and I'm having trouble figuring out how I should voice my character...

* Saltmarsh *

Thanks for telling us. How long should I wait for you before advancing?

Thanks

I am picturing disturbing in appearance and wild in outlook. Just decades as hermit with some sort of magic mushroom disease. LOL

My wife and I have been watching "The Chosen" one of Jesus' disciples keeps referring to John the Baptist as Creepy John. He lived in the wild and ate locust and honey. So you are welcome to pull out your voice of the prophet.

I just remembered one annoying thing about playing 5e monk pbp-style: Stunning Strike. Its the best ability ever and one reason I love monk but has a quirk.

That's because when I for example attack 4 times a round and Stunning Strike, Ill not know the result of the save vs my stun. That means I likewise don't know if I have advantage on the other 3 rolls that round.

IIRC, I started just always rolling with advantage and letting the DM sort it out. That still prevented me from describing my rolls narratively until after. Anyways its a ways off (5th) but just remembered that being sort of unpleasant, if you have any thoughts.

I hope we get that far soon. ;D

We'll figure it out.

cheers

I'll give Mithrandir another day, then move on tomorrow.

@Argyri you are hilarious. I want to read the chronicles.

Years ago I ran a Pathfinder game, skull and shackles. I created a magic item based a group Andoran propaganda novels. Basically the good democratic forest animals were fighting evil scary predators who were thinly veiled a helipad stand ins. The hero was the Crimson Hare a man a bit Zorro like figure.

I just realized I have to come up with some fishing stories and read up on my varieties of FIsh!!!

Also do you think using Thunderwave as a sorta Water Dynamite would be cheating fishing wise?

* Saltmarsh *

Does dynamite fishing damage and devalue the fish? Thunderwave would be the same.

Cheers

@Badger, heheheheheh, thanks. I see her as a light-hearted hero...and I like the idea of a kid raised by morally questionable pirates who decided to become a Dashing Hero based on the pulpy stories she got obsessed with.

And here he is

Not sure what your talking about. But I love what you have been doing. Almost as much as I am going to enjoy Badger pestering you about it.

As for my bow I have no problem using whatever you determine. If we are talking about what seems realistic a gnome couldn't use a human sized longbow. In previous editions, (3e and Pathfinder probably others) small characters used small sized weapons. In 5e it makes no distinction. Nor does it say that they can't use whatever weapon they are proficient in. Without the restriction I simply went with the best option because the rules don't have a prohibition. The PHB does talk about gear made for the size of the creature and it might need to be resized. I just assumed a longbow for a gnome was sized for a gnome and had comparable range and damage to a medium creature's bow.

Are there other weapons that small characters can't use or work different for them than in the PHB. My intention was to go dual wield and use shortswords.

Hi Badger.

I’m not being arbitrary. The longbow has the Heavy feature which prevents small characters from using well. Don’t take my word for it. Please google it. I’m at the grocery store or would provide you the link to the rules.

Cheers

Thank you. I had not caught that before. It makes sense. I had not it was a heavy weapon. Sure I feel silly but I like getting a better handle on things. Play a game for years and still learn little things.

The brave heroes marched towards the supposedly haunted house. They were viciously murdered by a family of weasels. Papa weasel, mamma weasel and baby weasel ate very well that day. As it turned out, the house wasn't haunted at all. It was just an old ruin. But when the villagers came and found the savaged bodies of the adventurers, it was decided that the haunting was far too severe. It was decided by unanimous consent that the house would be off limits, and that any who approached were to be punished to the full extent of the law. From there, the legend of the Ghosts of Saltmarsh only grew, taking on a life of their own.

- The End

I guess the rumors were true. Previous attempts to investigate the house did NOT return.

Weasel fodder.

Badger, remember that you have an all new round to take now.

Good luck!

I think Blacklock should get the nickname The Weasel! Defender of Salt Marsh, he falls into a Burrow and meets Weasels who put fear in him. Now he wears the pelt of a Weasel to strike fear in the hearts of those that wish to destroy SaltMarsh as the WEASEL

OK Players!

Mithrandir has been replaced in this game with Kvin Avassar. So in the Opening, please ignore any mention of Mithrandir.

Kvin joined the "Curious townsfolk" who followed the official team of five from town, but he didn't leave like they did. He only arrived in town three days ago.

It's currently Kvin's round in Gameplay combat. You're 35 feet away from the melee. Make it good, since one character is already down.

After Kvin finalizes his backstory, you all can include retcon posts to address how you reacted to the only person who stayed.

Kwin Avassar:
Welcome!

Would you please work this into your backstory. "You spent years shipwrecked on a deserted isle. Finally, you were recently picked up by a passing ship on its way to Saltmarsh. You were stranded after pirates attacked the ship you were aboard and killed everyone else. You survived by leaping overboard and swimming for hours."

Kwin arrived in Saltmarsh three days ago. The mission to the Haunted House was the talk of the town. You just decided to show up and joined the crew walking to the House, south of town. Please read the opening.

Thanks! I am very pleased and frightened to join you at this point! I feel a lot of pressure to somehow turn the tide. Let's see what I can do.

* Saltmarsh *

Whew! You survived your first combat and avoided a TPK!

Two actions, besides continuing posts in Gameplay:

1. Please put your Backstory in your profile. I really need access to it to remind me.

2. Please include in your Gameplay posts retcon RP interacting with Kwin before Black stuck his head in an RUS hole

cheers!

* Saltmarsh *

Another request as we're starting out:

I would greatly appreciate if you would account your consumables in the line under your profile. Something like this:

HP 6/9 | HD 1/1d8 | 1st 2/2 | Recovery 1/1 | 2nd wind 1/1 | Inspiration!

thanks

* Saltmarsh *

@Kwin, in Greyhawk Lendorian Elven is a separate language from Elven. Drusilla knows both. It wouldn't make sense that Kwin knows it. It would make more sense that a Wood Elf knows Sylvan.

@Everyone. Decide if you’re going to short rest. Then, take it and post what TPK tactic you will take next. I kid. I kid. Just let me know what you’re doing next.

cheers

* Saltmarsh *

I'll move forward when I get 4 votes of consensus to progress.

thanks

I missed the request to rest/heal. Makes sense!

* Saltmarsh *

Ok. Take your short rest. And I'll progress with one more vote to open door number 2.

cheers

I am fine with that marching order. Though I am likely to go duel wield when the time comes so Badger is happy to mix it up. He just believes that arrows are a great pastime while enemies approach.

In any space wide enough he will be off to the side so as to cover with out shooting over allies.

He also knows that rapier wielding swashbucklers like adjacent allies.

Rapier wielding swashbucklers really appreciate that you're tracking that! ;-)

Looking at the marching order question. What has been proposed works.

But this is really an interesting group combat wise. We are very skirmisher heavy.

@Tarn you cast Armor of Agathys. Does that mean you are thinking of tanking?

Blacklock, Badger and Drusilla, when she casts mage armor, have the high ACs at 16. But Dru is likely to as she said stick to the middle. Blacklock is mobile. Argyri has cunning action. LOL we are a shock toop force that's sure.

Lvl 6 Warlock Tarn Copperlocks HP (49/49) AoA (15/15) AC (19) Saves (5/2/4/0/2/5) Spells (1/2) Current Buffs ( AoA ) HD (5/5) Flight (3/3)

Tarn is pure close combat. No ranged options! And at lvl4 he’ll be able to wear heavy armor. Not so much a tank as “he won’t die right away”

Drus wrote:
Blacklock, I didn't see it, but Drusilla hugged you and was happy you lived before we went off. Not sure if you saw that or not.

I did thanks, couldn't think of anything at the moment. Must have been your charisma 10, he only goes for the babes. ;) jk

Eventually I'll get access to light armor and get SHIELD! I'll be a power house with a Scimitar

But still going for middle. As I hope to have a lot of middle range spells.

* Saltmarsh *

@Drusilla, perhaps I wasn't clear. The tracks run between the inside door to the trapdoor in the floor of this room. Clearer?

More importantly there's another door in this room that is concealed from everyone but yourself that goes into the basement

cheers

What's the plan? There's no obvious heavy object to place on the trapdoor, except characters.

Tarn started waling downstairs and then reversed and returned.

Need to know how to progress
