I'm working on a long-ish (but complex) post. I thought I would have it done today but I got my COVID booster yesterday and I've been feeling meh. Tonight or tomorrow!
Fundin Goldenoak |
I would like to add to that request Hatchet for Fundin ;) I have the money, just need to plant them and find a hatchet under the rock ;)
GM Watery Soup |
Sorry, I think it was lost in the shuffle.
Yes, you're free to retro-purchase anything you forgot. I'm on my phone so I don't have ccess to the spreadsheet, but maybe at the end of every day if there is anything you want to purchase with gold you found, a mischievious fey can steal your gold at night and you'll find the item sometimw the next day?
The only other option is to organize a multiday trip to the nearest city. I think other groups are doing this but there's already a lot that goes on every night.

Hi players, I know I was a bit AWOL on Friday but Monday's going to be tough too. I will try to get caught up Monday night or Tuesday.

Yeah, no worries. Real-life always take priority before games, take your time.

I'm sure similar posts will be making the rounds, but I am off tomorrow and Monday so my posting will be slow or non-existent.
I hope everyone has a Merry Nonreligious Season of Joy, Renewal and Gifts.
Also, I hope you got your test results back and they were negative, Deevor.

Good news it's not covid and I've now get penicillin and other medications, so I am feeling a lot better than I have been. Last night was the first night I actually got some proper sleep, so hoping for the same tonight. So things are looking up and hoping a full recovery is on the way. I'll be posting again after Xmas.
Wishing you all a Happy Christmas and a brilliant New Year, (with less Covid).

I noticed someone moved the tactical slide to Slide 1. That's fine with me (if people prefer, I can do that at the beginning of combat from now on), but in the future, please make a note of it in Discussion. I thought someone deleted it, and was about to clip in a backup slide from my GM deck. :P
Pourrimenmots de Sibelius |
Apologies to you all, I've still recovering for whatever got me before Christmas, it's not been a great time.
However, I'm ready to start up again, if you're all OK for me to restart the annoying gnome lawyer...
Just about to start reading up what I've missed...

Sorry for the delay, prepping research results in a big post.
GM Watery Soup |
I'm really sorry guys, but some of the things in the post I was prepping don't seem like they make sense on a metagame level, and I finally realize I've fundamentally misunderstood part of it, and I need to re-prep it (and go back over the dream post and see how to adjust so that the research properly discloses everything you need at the pace that it needs to be done).
One possibility is that we begin moving through some of the other rooms, and I'll retcon what you learned at the library here (none of it should affect your decision where to go next).
GM Watery Soup |
Yeah, it's not very obvious, and I didn't read it carefully enough the first time around - I just kind of instinctively made a big spreadsheet that I thought would just organize it all for me.

Uhh, Doug H and his spreadsheet :) I would have to look through it when we finish playing this.
I played at his Lodge of the Living God scenario, where you perform a number of tasks, and he had a project plan prepared in the spreadsheet, it counted effort, resources etc. That guy is insane!
Fundin Goldenoak |
And one more thing, I don't know if it helps or not, but I would not expect horrors and dreams to be completely accurate. So a bit of misleading visions could also spice things up ;)

Have you see the tracker that Doug H created on the GM Shared Prep? I haven't looked over it at all to avoid spoilers but he creates some pretty helpful trackers.
Sweet Iomedae, I'm going to have to thank Doug for this.
Fundin Goldenoak |
just an FYI, I am dm'ing with Doug and told him about us 'finding his sheet':
The malevolence sheet has a couple of errors in it, regarding knowledge thresholds. If you’re in that game let the gm know to just double-check. It was built for live play where I didn’t have time to flip back and forth through pages of the module in game
So delivering the message
GM Watery Soup |
We've been at this for a bit. How about some hero points?
I keep forgetting about these. It's been a while, so I'm going to take the easy way out - everyone gets an additional Hero Point.
Lazlo Gorog |
You know that Lazlo is a conman that used occult trappings to act as a fake spiritualist and trick people out of their money by performing seances. I kind of picture him being exactly the sort of person that Harry Houdini would have tried to debunk back in the 20s. My intention is that in attempting to truly appear be able to contact the dead, Lazlo somehow stumbled upon true occult power and the mysterious stranger has some sort of plan for him. If you like this idea perhaps you could use this dream mechanic to have the eidolon deliver whatever message to Lazlo that you deem fit.
My original intention was for the eidolon either not speak at all or to speak sparingly in the manner of Terry Pratchett's Death character IN ALL CAPS WITH NO QUOTATION MARKS. I don't know if all this will mean more work for you than you are willing to undertake. If this is the case let me know and I'll just have Lazlo dream of a specific subject like the others.

Hey folks,
I am ill and actually after three days feeling a bit worse. I hope that my dwarven stamina will let me fight this, whatever it is. In the meantime please bot me.
Pourrimenmots de Sibelius |
As for the paintings, de Sibelius is happy to leave them in the house as a part of their value will be added to the charges his firm make to Lazlo, from his point of view.

Laurel, if you were undamaged at the beginning of your turn, you should have taken -28 hp from the crit fail (13/41), and then the persistent bleed does another 8 at the end of your turn (5/41). You should still be up even without Fundin's reaction. I'm marking Laurel and Fundin as having not acted, let me know if I've missed something.
Um. I crit-failed at math. Hero pointing now!
Fundin Goldenoak |
Hey folks, so when I checked the loot, we found roughly 200 gp in valuables. Would we want to get something? Or are we hoarding money for the 4th level to buy striking runes?
Anyone have any 'wish list' of items, scrolls etc?
Galimus |
I'm terrible when it comes to equipment for spellcasters. If anyone has any utilitarian scrolls to suggest, I'm happy to opt for them.
Otherwise, I'll probably wait for an armor rune.

I don't know honestly. I think around those levels scrolls could be of use. In one of the AP's that I played we ended up buying Restoration scrolls as on one session my Wizzard got stupefied and for the rest of the dungeon, I rolled flat-check DC5 on every spell.
Halgur |
Fundin, you would have your shield in hand [I believe in PF2 they are actually strapped to your arm, I recall a discussion in a past game {and think it was actually one of Halgur's characters, perhaps they can weigh in} and remember the ruling was "it's strapped to your arm"], just not a weapon. As a reuslt, you have an extra action.
So our GM in that discussion was the one that decided that all shields are strapped. I have been unable to find anything in the rules to indicate that any shield other than a buckler is actually required to be strapped.
Historically the Viking style round shield with shield boss was held and not strapped. In fact it seems that the shield boss on any shield is there mainly to protect the hand that holds a shield whether it is round or a 'kite' shield. It does seem that some shields were strapped to the forearm but those seem to be mostly kite shields used by mounted combatants. Admittedly my research isn't particularly thorough and I am likely missing many examples. Oddly the buckler was historically held and not strapped but this is the only shield in the game specifically mentioned to be strapped.
Since there does seem to be evidence of shields other than bucklers being both strapped and held I've been asking GMs which they prefer when I begin to play a game if I am playing one of my shield users. When I GM I simply ask the player which they prefer at the start of the scenario.
GM Watery Soup |
Yes, the exact ruling was that because the Wielding Rules specify an action is required to drop a shield (vs free action for held items), it must be strapped.
Honestly, I'm okay with Halgur's method - your shield can be strapped or not strapped, and if it's strapped, you don't need an Interact to draw it.
